Chapter 9: Worth

Everyone was shuffling about and pacing with hurried footsteps, so much so that I could even hear their worries behind the door and straight to this room.

Wondering what the fuss was, I quickly got out of bed and put on some of the clothes that were inside the drawer.

Proceeding to stifle my presence, I made my way following some of the maids that seem to be bringing a large amount of food somewhere.

They are levitating the food using the wind and I'm guessing that in turn, it keeps the food at the right temperature.

Trollies and what not are seen but the workers don’t really use it that much, the cluttering it makes is also unbearable.

So most prefer to use magic as it is easier and convenient…

Come to think of it, I had been so busy that I never got a proper look at this world’s infrastructure.

Thinking so, I took my time as I pass through the halls and swiveled through the busy servants.

Looking at the intricate wall designs and patterned windows, the hall gave off a simple yet majestic feeling.

The designs were all fluidly crafted, was there some magic at play I wonder?

I soon found myself face to face with the big doors that once greeted me when I first made sense of the world around myself.

The doors were soon opened by the guards letting the maids in as I then swiftly snuck in while they were entering.

It’s really frustrating how this technique is what helps me all the time to the point I find it surprising that the guards didn’t notice me at all.

Bright light greeted me and once again beyond the hall was the King sitting on his throne.

Directly below him I could see a finely dressed woman holding a baby… in clothes that were all too familiar…

Those are…. ceremonial clothes…

Then that means…

“We will now begin the ceremony.” a person in magician garb announced.

Like the ceremony I had once attended, the person in magician garb would pour over a liquid on the orb causing it to glow as the liquid that touches the orb then floats.

While the orb shone softly on my ceremony… now, the orb instantly emitted a blinding glow.

It only meant one thing, a genius of the century.

My younger brother is now officially the royal family’s treasure as a huge amount of surprise and awe filled sounds reverberated across the room.

I couldn’t describe what I was feeling at that very moment.

…Was it envy? hatred? sadness?

I don’t know.

What I do know is that I want to get out of here, the sooner the better.

I then slowly moved away from the hall where the large amount of guests had gathered making me feel all the more suffocated.

Swiftly, I turn towards the door as panic was visible on my face.

My emotions wouldn’t calm down as I sprinted towards the now open doors as maids were clearing out the used dishes. I ran as fast as I can without any destination in mind and without even bothering to look back.

I could feel my heart heavily palpitating, my legs hurting and my mind confused.

Soon I began to recall the Crown Prince’s backstory.

Immersed in my thoughts and without looking where I am headed, I couldn’t see the tree root and thus got my foot caught on it.

Tripping badly, this time without anyone to catch my fall I slowly got up and looked at my bruised hands.

Drops soon began to fall and loud thunder accompanied by lightning ensued.

A terrifying yet accurate thought soon crept in my head.

‘I… am no longer needed anymore, right?’

Now I wonder… were those tears just now or just the eminent rain?

I walk towards the largest tree in the garden, its towering figure had this feeling of strength and unbending will in contrast to myself, making me feel very small.

The 2nd Prince… Vinter De Hydrangea crowned at the age of 18 when his older brother the 1st Prince Veighnxer De Hydrangea was banished at the [Good End] or died at the [Bad End] of the Crown prince route.

His birth was the start of the Crown prince’s road to demise…. And the starting point of the plot.

This time, the Otome Game had truly begun…
