“Hey have you heard? The knights are back! They are finally returning from the borders!” A maid with a blue ribbon covered her mouth as she delightfully shared the news.
“I heard they were successful.” Then in response to that, a visibly young but calm looking maid with a red ribbon softly added.
“Really? I heard it was almost a failure…” A young looking maid with a yellow ribbon soon chimed in, seemingly rebutting the maid with the red ribbon.
The red velvet rays illuminated the corridors, the sun was nearly setting but that didn’t seem to stop the maids from their cheerful gossip.
“Oh but then the tides flipped when a knight with hair shining like copper, stood valiant and lead the others!” The blue ribbon maid smiled and delivered her findings almost theatrically.
“But wasn’t it a luster like that of glistening blood not copper? I even heard he didn’t wear armor…” After picturing the scene of the gallant knight soaked in crimson, the red ribbon maid could only blush at such a thought.
“Scary… But dashing!” The yellow ribbon maid then squealed after sharing the same sentiment with her red ribbon co-worker.
Sounds of shoes tapping on the floor then resounded in the desolate hallways, the rhythmical and elegant strides were clearly distinguished.
“I agree…” The red ribbon maid then nodded.
“So do I!” The blue ribbon maid also nodded in cheerful agreement.
Their excited voices could then be heard cheerful and constant but it was not as loud to have echoed down the long halls.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
“Maybe we should go and see the parade later in town!” The blue ribbon maid chimed happily.
“Oh my, that would be lovely! But being with the common folk would be too…” The red ribbon maid hesitated, fatigue visible on her face.
“I get what you mean but isn’t it exciting? Sneaking out dressed in commoner clothes?” The blue ribbon maid persuaded.
“Yes, I suppose so…” The red ribbon maid said looking obviously nervous but also rather excited at such a thought.
“Then let’s all meet up at the square after our duties!” The yellow ribbon maid announced as they all seem to have reached an agreement.
The 3 maids then continued chatting happily about the town and landmark terms as they lift dirty laundry using a [levitation] spell or [wind] magic and headed down the hallway.
‘They really should learn to be careful… The walls are thin these days.’ I thought to myself as I sat near the window of the hallways, the setting sun barely illuminating my small figure.
Anyways it seems that those maids from different departments all got assigned today to do the dirty laundry.
Which is, the hardest duty ever in the palace.
‘Hmm... I didn’t know techniques for gathering information that I read from a manhwa somewhere would be useful here.’ I smiled as I got the information I needed.
‘As they say, if you wanna know the inner workings and outer workings of the world you have to listen to maid gossip.’
Trivia
The different colored ribbons placed on their collars symbolizes their departments or where and what they work on.
The ones wearing red ribbons were mostly doing chores related to the kitchen, the ones with blue mostly doing chores related to the palace rooms.
Lastly, the ones with yellow ribbons mostly do chores related to Mana cores and Renal cores.
Those cores could be seen as the initial dominant technology here as the cores supply the running water, energy for the lamps and chandeliers around various areas in the palace, and many more.
In each department they usually assign a specific maid to do laundry chores as it is the most taxing job, the assigned maid would be changed daily though so as to lessen the burden.
