Chapter 18: Strange feeling (1)

***

A few hours earlier I received notice of Klutzs’ engagement or rather his appointed marriage ceremony in a couple of days away.

Coincidentally, it seems that my language teacher is soon to also get married in a couple of days away as well.

Unfortunately, they both had the gall to confide in my advice.

Really makes me wonder just how hard they pondered about what they should really do with this dilemma.

Are they that desperate, to think they thought to ask a kid barely at the age of 5 to give them a piece of advice regarding the topic of marriage or whatnot.

Or they simply just had no one else to talk about the matter to.

“Just treat the person you will marry right and I’m sure they would do the same.” Is what I always replied with, as they persistently came running at my feet crying about their dilemma like a child.

For some reason though, they approach me only when the other is out doing something.

Are they seriously treating me as some sort of therapist having a one-on-one talking session with a deranged patient?

Oh but I guess a therapist isn’t really a job that existed here huh… doubt they’ll be familiar with that word.

Yet contrary to their ever growing worries I already know of who they were set to marry.

Not that I heard of it from the king or the servants but simply because it is part of the Otome game plot.

I mean if the two of them just sat down and think for a bit, even dense walls would figure it out.

Simply put, the Otome game had 5 capture targets.

All these targets are with respective themes and symbolizations.

One of which were a set of twins that have opposite personalities, the older one being quiet while the younger one being wild.

Yet the two won’t be separated no matter what.

Though once you get to their route, depending on which of the two you have more affinity with, the other twin would simply back off and choose to support your budding romance.

Oddly enough playing that game while I was 22 years old felt illegal somehow.

I could even hear it haunting my very soul as if a random passerby would just suddenly point at me and say ‘Officer he’s the one’

The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.

You can’t blame me, the twins were 14, the 2nd prince was 16… the same age as the saintess, the duke was 18 and finally the Crown prince was 20…

Looking back at it, it felt kinda weird now that I am Veighnxer or the Crown prince himself…

Remembering that I played an Otome game that has my route in it… is nothing short of strange.

It’s like watching an embarrassing… cringe-worthy show of oneself…. And only to embarrass oneself further while in the middle of reminiscing…

Back on topic, those twins happened to be the sons of the future ‘Commander Klutzs’ of the Palace Guards or rather Klutzs Lusterio, the husband-to-be of Marthiel Lusterio… My language teacher.

Yes, both of them are making a mountain out of an ant’s nest.

Well it’s not like I can blame them, they don’t know the future like I do.

That for me, it just became a basic thing to rely on that knowledge…

‘Once all of this is over and my knowledge have caught-up to the Otome game’s end… what will happen to me from then on?’

I placed the book down as I stop the short musings that came to me a while ago.

Soon I stared at the two next to me chatting away.

The scene felt distant… like that of a game’s CG.

A warm atmosphere was visible as the sun’s rays shone upon the two, while soft winds blew and the flowers danced with the dew.

The scenery was nice to the feel and it was… strangely warm.

Almost to the point of making me feel like smiling, although that was just a moment’s whims.

‘…It would be best not to think of something that hasn’t happened yet, I’ll just slowly plan things out.’

Soon the two got married.

Their atmosphere from before that was as if they were newlyweds…

Now, annoyingly after the marriage they are both keeping an appropriate distance towards each other.

Like that of what you would see in an old couple’s lover’s quarrel.

‘This awkwardness isn’t helping me focus on these books at all!’ I stood up and went away on my own, despite their insistence.

It seems that they need some alone time.

And I am caught between them.

If you use your eyes enough, one can see that they hastily and desperately needed my presence in order for the awkward atmosphere to be in regulated levels for talking.

But I am not the sort of person that will entertain such situations.

Your conflicts, your problem. So resolve it.

With haste please, as you both are not the only ones that are desperately waiting for this cold atmosphere to cease at once.

“Young Sun….”

“Student…”

“No, this isn’t helping. I can’t focus due to this atmosphere, fix it somehow.” One way or another I was filled with annoyance and so I fled from the scene and stifled my presence.

“I’ll go look for the young Sun.”

“Hold on, let me offer my assistance. You can’t possibly find my student- I mean the young Sun with just your keen intuition, you need to also use your senses and observe carefully.”

‘I see, so simply stifling my presence can’t escape the ones with keen observation. I did after all manage to kill those assassins before because they were far too arrogant.’

Peeking out from where I was, not too far from our picnic spot, I overheard their conversation and quickly adjusted my shortcomings.

With a bit of tinkering on my end, I was then able to hide any traces I could possibly leave.

After some time of waiting, I sat once again at the tree by the place we were having a picnic and thus decided to take a nap.

‘I hope that by the time I wake up, they would’ve dealt with that awkward atmosphere.’

Staring at the sky beyond the rustling leaves one last time, I closed my eyes.

And ironically, despite preaching that I could not tolerate the earlier atmosphere, for a long time in a while I had a good rest…
