REIGN CARNATE (Shounen-ai)
Chapter 2: Acceptance

Chapter 2: Acceptance

‘I seemed to have reincarnated… So I really did die at that earthquake huh… crazy…’

Though aside from that the weirdest thing was that I have the locket I made with me, it seems as though nobody could see it.

It’s a bit big on a 1 year old’s body but even if I leave it somewhere, it would somehow still find its way back in my hands.

As curious as I am with it, I would have to stop thinking about that and look at the problem I am facing right now.

I am currently being carried by the butler after they finished dressing me up in these extravagant looking ceremonial clothes.

We took several turns to get to where we are going, passing by numerous gardens made me think that this is really a palace and I am its Prince…

Just the thought of the word ‘Prince’ made me look like a wilted cabbage.

“We’re here now dear Prince” The voice of Elt the name of the butler, which I by chance learned while he was being called by the friendly employees of this palace, woke me up from my thoughts.

I came face to face with a huge door…. Makes me wonder ‘how do they even open that thing..?’

As I was contemplating the possible answers with my wild imaginations, the guards acknowledged Elt’s and my presence.

“Ah, sir Elt His Majesty has been waiting and… this must be our young Sun, Greetings to the Royalty.” The guards then bowed towards me, what a strange feeling that was.

“Dear Prince, we will now enter please don’t be alarmed” Elt looked at the guards, signaling that we are prepared to meet the person behind the huge door.

‘Even if you say that, a baby can’t understand you, you know. Well that is if I was a normal baby.’

I looked straight ahead ready to face whatever surprise or view I may see, but it turns out I wasn’t at all ready to simply accept my reality.

“The young Sun and Sir Elt is entering!” The moment the announcement was heard, the two guards took a step towards the large doors and placed their palm at each of its center.

I could then feel the slight disturbance in the surrounding air.

Their body emitted a soft glow then suddenly the door lit up or to be exact, symbols started to appear on the door.

The glow… ah no, the energy started to gather at their palms and with a slight thump they pushed the big doors with just one hand.

‘Cool…’ I gape in awe but I didn’t have enough time to digest that this world has magic due to the fact that I saw a familiar… no rather, a very familiar scenery.

The throne room, sitting at the end of it was a person who exuded dignity.

His hair that shone like embers were illuminated by the surrounding chandeliers, making it look like dancing specks of gold.

“Come forward Elt.” The man with a familiar yet distant voice ordered.

‘I feel like I’ve heard this voice somewhere before…’ But then suddenly it struck me like lightning the moment he called my name with that familiar voice.

“Veighnxer… 1st Prince of this country, by my power you are now to be officially recognized as a royal.”

He looked at my eyes or rather it felt like he was looking straight at my soul as he lifted a wine glass filled to the brim.

He then took a sip of the crimson liquid and began to swirl it around as if in a fit of boredom.

Maybe it’s a toast to my coming of age ceremony….

Or

Maybe it’s a farewell… Because it sure does felt like one!

‘But anyway… was that just now… My… name…? Haha… no way... you’ve got to be kidding me.’

I turned pale as I realised that I may have reincarnated in an Otome game world, the one I was playing just earlier… as the Crown prince, the perfect Crown prince of this nation.

Veighnxer De Hydrangea, the capture target with the hardest route. That he even friend zoned the Saintess in his route’s happy ending.

‘And he…’ I swallowed hard yet silently as I was afraid that just making a tiny amount of noise would get me killed.

“Engage the Ceremony.” As soon as the King ordered, a person in a magician like outfit came up to me with a glass filled with liquid and a crystal orb.

The orb reflected my baby face and soft silver hair lined with streaks of gold that seems to scream royalty… My repulsed expression also reflected onto it as I watch the magician pour the liquid on the orb.

The liquid began to float the moment it touched the orb and the magician then started to recite incantations as the orb begins to softly glow…

Watching this scene makes me feel like my throat has a big lump stuck in it, making it harder to breathe…

Maybe because I already know the results, this evidence just further concretes my theory… And I know it in the back of my head that if I don’t do anything starting now, I might just go down the bad end…

“….He… our young Sun is…” The magician continued while looking bewildered as my case was probably a first, if not, THE first ever in the royal family history.

[‘He doesn’t even have the ability to control magic!’]

A scene set in the future from the Otome game that was bound to happen but not now suddenly popped out in my head as the magician began to slowly say the next words almost as if it was in slow motion.

“Unable to… control magic” Like the lines that I have remembered clearly, the magician announced that I have no ability what so ever to wield magic.

‘Well I’m doomed’ Laughing at my own agony, the King’s dead reaction was the cherry on top.

“Haa… is that so.” The King, without an ounce of disappointment breathed a heavy sigh. Rather than no disappointment maybe it’s just that he didn’t expect anything in the first place.

“Congratulations Veighnxer, you are now officially a royal. Farewell then, I wish you luck.” The King then turned away as Elt began to carry me back to my room.

Slowly, we were moving further away from the domineering throne.

‘Luck? What I need is protection! Not your wish of luck!’ I could feel warm tears flowing from my cheeks but I made no sound as I silently cried.

Reaching my hands out towards him like it was a reflex, we got further and further until we were about to leave the room.

Then, the moment the door was about to close, the King looked at me but I wasn’t able to process what kind of expression he had with him.

The moment the huge doors have fully closed, marked my realization of my life here as a Prince and also my survival as a capture target in this otome game world.

Sounds of pitter and patter were heard as I stare blankly, the rain seems to have slowly turned into a light drizzle while Elt softly walked the hallways carrying me lightly as if to comfort me.

The moment we got to the hallway where we can clearly see the garden, the sun’s rays shone brightly while the rain was still in a light drizzle.

Along with the morning dew and fog, the garden that looked gloomy earlier started to look magical as the rain was softly illuminated by the light.

In turn it looked as if a soft veil was covering the scenery.

Just then, I looked up and a long band of colourful light slowly spread its beauty across the clearing sky, like it is saying ‘welcome’ to me.

‘Ah.’ I have no words to describe what I was feeling but, a sudden wave of emotions began to hit me all at once.

I cried very loudly for the first time in a while as I buried my face on Elt’s uniform.

Elt then began to pat my back as we made our way towards the room I have been to when I first heard the woman’s soft and embracing melody.

The ever familiar ceiling greeted me when I woke up from my nap.

‘I must’ve fallen asleep while crying… how embarrassing.’ After taking in my surroundings I then began to hear sounds of things being moved and Elt’s voice ordering the maids.

He seems to be talking to the head maid that I saw earlier. She was one of the employees that greeted Elt earlier when we were headed to the throne room.

I had this thought but Elt seems to be really loved in this palace.

Elt finished his chat with the head maid and made his way towards me, the atmosphere earlier kinda looked fluffy or is it just me?

“Dear Prince we will move to your new room now.” Elt slowly lifted me up and nodded towards the head maid.

“Understood, everyone it’s time” The head maid said and suddenly everyone began glowing as they gathered their energy towards their palm.

The air slowly felt disturbed and now the heavy furniture floated.

I think they made a void of air to carry the heavy furniture, while some seemed to have enhanced their energy using magic and carried the heavy furniture like it was a piece of ordinary bread.

It seems Elt and the others plan to move me in another room.

I knew it at the back of my head that I won’t be seeing this room anymore along with the woman that used to sing me that melody, the melody that will forever remain in my mind.

‘Now my top priority: To survive! Challenge is on! Time to clear you again, Otome game.’ I steeled my resolved and looked away from the room we were slowly distancing from.
