Chizuki was for the most part, afraid of what Uehara’s reaction would be. She believed that he would find her and Sakura. That much she was sure of. But the one thing she wanted to avoid the most was earning his disappointment.
But when Uehara appeared in that room where they were held in, she saw no fury in his gaze but she knew he was angry. His facial expression was always neutral the whole time but she knew through the soul-link they shared that he was barely holding back.
When she had found out that the soul-link between him and her had become foggy a few days ago, she was afraid. She was afraid that the only proof of her being his person was on the verge of being erased was more despairing than being kicked out of her clan.
But now, as Uehara was refilling her with chakra, she was happy at two things. One of them was that the soul-link remained as strong as ever. The other thing was…
[He’s not angry at me…]
She could feel his anger was directed towards her…elder brother. It left a bad taste in her mouth to share blood with such a man. She still hasn’t forgotten her original wish. She always wished to share the same blood with her master. She still wanted for him to turn her into a vampire and that wish had resurfaced with more force ever since she encountered her “brother”.
Filling her reserves getting close to full, she finally felt invigorated. But before she could speak a word of thanks, Uehara cupped her face and stared intently into her eyes.
Embarrassment caused her to subconsciously turn her head but Uehara didn’t allow that. Feeling his warm hands on her cheeks caused her face to become flushed.
“M-master?”
Uehara looked straight into her eyes. Although his face was expressionless, Chizuki could see the hidden concern.
“Let me see what happened to you.”
Realising that Uehara wanted to go through her memories, Chizuki gave a weak nod.
“Mm…”
She then felt his chakra gently flow into her head while his eyes turned golden in colour. Uehara went through the memories of the last few weeks she experienced.
[Oh?]
He was genuinely impressed with her information network and her ability to quickly catch a lead in less than a week.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
But as he got to the memories of the last few days, he started to get angry. But reigning his budding anger in, he focused so that he wouldn’t harm her by losing focus.
As soon as Chizuki and Sakura were captured, both were subjected to torture. He could see how their limbs were repeatedly broken and sledgehammers were slammed into their ribs. He could see how much determination the two women had in not divulging his teachings.
It honestly irked him as to why they were so tight-lipped on the matter. They knew full well that no human could ever hope to learn them without his or another demon’s help. They knew that even if they spoke, it wouldn’t cause him any inconvenience since he could always kill them later.
To suffer so much pain just for a secret the enemy could never hope to exploit was simply stupid in his eyes.
Pulling his hands from his head, he looked down, not meeting her eyes.
“Why? Why did you do something so stupid?”
Chizuki was confused. She could feel the bubbling rage threatening to burst forth. But she couldn’t understand what he was angry about.
“I-I don’t understand master. If I did something wrong, please tell me so that I can rectify it as soon as possible.”
His voice came out in a low whisper.
“Why didn’t you talk?”
Chizuki finally understood. Straightening her posture, she righteously spoke.
“Master’s methods are sacred to both Sakura and me. Because of master, we both got immensely strong within a short time. To honour master, we both agreed that we must never divulge master’s methods, no matter what happens to us-”
“YOU FOOL!!!”
BOOOM
Uehara released an overwhelming amount of aura that was red with streaks of black in colour. His eyes were red but there was a change. Around his pupil, there was now a single black concentric ring. The entire room had been destroyed by the explosive burst of power released by Uehara.
As for Yaroi, his arms were the only things remaining within the vicinity while his body was blown away. Sakura was safe since Uehara subconsciously didn’t blow her away with his aura. The entire area right now looked like a sort of hole since even the house above the basement was completely destroyed.
Chizuki was strangely happy in front of Uehara’s explosive aura. Right before he exploded, she sensed the extreme concern hidden beneath the rage.
Uehara glared at her while his aura slowly diminished.
“You could’ve died.”
He expected her to be ashamed or afraid. But instead, she was smiling. With rage threatening to take him over again, he was rendered mute by what Chizuki did next.
She hugged him.
“Thank you for worrying so much about us master. But you also don’t understand just how grateful we are to you. As such, even if you view our actions as stupid, we don’t regret our decision.”
There was silence. Chizuki was very nervous right now. What she did just now was a massive risk and she half-expected her stomach to get blown out as soon as she hugged him. But since it didn’t happen…yet, she was using the chance to enjoy the experience as much as she could. After all, it’d probably take another decade or more before she could manage to hug her master like this.
Figuring it was about time she stopped, she was about to let go when she suddenly felt Uehara’s smaller arms go around her. But as soon as that feeling came, Uehara suddenly felt like a jolt of lightning awoke him and immediately, he kicked Chizuki away.
He then appeared next to Sakura and picked her up. He glared towards Chizuki who was slowly standing up with a gaze that could kill.
The newly formed concentric rings on his eyes rotated as he spoke.
“Never. Do that. Again. Or I will kill you.”
With that said, he vanished, leaving Chizuki alone to decide what she wants to do with Yaroi, who was probably still alive.
