Draconic Vampire

1000 AD, 7th Month of 12, Aokigahara Forest, Planet Sky, Mirror World Of Earth

Deep in the forest of what would soon be known as Aokigahara Forest, Japan, a bright white light that pierced the skies shone, illuminating the entire forest with its brilliance, turning the darkness of the night into day.

All the chakra within the immediate area began converging into a central point in the forest. In the middle of the clearing where the chakra was converging, a small sphere of light was formed. Inside the light, there was a small formless ball of golden light in it along with a single drop of blood that directly entered it. Immediately, blood red lines covered the ball and slowly, the ball began assuming a humanoid shape. The chakra that was surrounding the orb began to converge and was used as nourishment for the orb to continue growing into a humanoid form.

The blood that was revolving around the golden ball of light was the blood of Volkarin. Once the blood entered the golden ball, the ball began to be discernible as the silhouette of a small curled up dragon foetus. As the chakra in the surroundings was absorbed by the foetus, it began to slowly grow.

After a few hours, the bright lights finally started to dissipate, the darkness returning once more. In a clearing, a dragon hatchling that looked barely past a day of age with dark black skin could be seen lying down, wrapped in what seems to be a bone blanket.

After a while it opened its eyes, an ominous black to them.

[Where…am I?]

It looked at itself.

[Dragon? It seems I really turned into a dragon.]

A few high-pitched chips escaped its throat, making them sound pitiful.

[It seems my vocal cords haven’t developed enough to allow speech. Okay. I’m Shawn Dillon, number one assassin on Earth. I met up with Lazarin after I died and he offered me reincarnation. Good, my memories seem to be intact.]

Righting himself from his belly-up position, he looked around.

[It seems besides a few insects, nothing else is around. Now to get a good layout of my surroundings and what species of animals I might be working with.]

He strengthened the bones and muscles in his body using chakra and struggled to stand up. He couldn’t walk properly for a while but after a few minutes, he started galloping across the forest floor. A few seconds later, he was sitting by a tree while trying to regain his breath.

[Damn baby body! Damn old man! Damn forest!]

He sat down on his stomach because he knew he wasn’t going to get anywhere.

[Okay Shawn. Let’s try this chakra thing first and see if I can fly.]

He tried to direct his chakra to his little wings and then force them to push off against the ground. Besides not even floating, all he managed to do was make his wings cause sounds like a dried bed sheet in the wind.

He didn’t give up though. He kept on trying and soon, he managed to ascend a few metres into the air after having a running head start.

[I will need to learn how to purely use my chakra to fly because this is very tiring.]

At first, he was clumsily flying and had to use his bones to protect himself from crashing on more than a few occasions, but he eventually got the hang of flying. He could comfortably travel at a 100km/h after an hour of practice but soon, the hunger was starting to get to him.

[I hope this technique I’m thinking of works or else I’ll just look like an idiot.]

He landed on one of the branches of a thick, tall tree.

[Locate]

Pulses of chakra were released from his mouth, forming a 3km radius that worked like a sonar. Everything from the water in the trees to the movement of air in the soil. He could feel EVERYTHING.

[IT HURTS!!!]

His brain was being overloaded with tons of information that he just wasn’t able to process properly. His front legs were clutching his head but the pain soon subsided.

[That hurt. Luckily, I sensed something that looked like a boar 2km from me.]

He groggily flew over to the destination, giving his brain some time to cool down. He arrived a few minutes later and found a group of boars prowling about.

[Okay Shawn. I’m a dragon. I can breathe fire. I just have to follow my instincts.]

Observing them from high in the canopy, he opened his mouth, a sphere of golden flames forming in it.

[Let me try compressing the flames for piercing ability.]

Pursing his mouth like a tube, he released a golden flame bullet and it immediately penetrated the skull of the boar as it exploded on the ground like a grenade. The other boars immediately ran away from the site while Shawn slowly jumped down from branch to branch. He looked at the mess his soon to be dinner was in, it’s neck completely blown off and blood leaking from it.

[At least it saves me the hassle of draining its blood, though I’m now feeling a bit…weird.]

His eyes started glazing over, changing from a dull yellow to red in the process. He unconsciously walked over to the boar. He first sniffed the blood before dipping his tongue in it and immediately, he felt like he could no longer stop. He directly shoved his head inside the carcass, lapping up the blood into his mouth, drinking it directly from the boar’s neck. He was drinking like a man who had been starved of water for days.

But all things must come to an end. Shawn could feel the blood running out so he made his bones protrude from his ribs to encroach the boar forming a ribcage and began squeezing, trying to get every last bit of that heavenly blood. The crunching of bones shattered the silence of the forest as Shawn squeezed harder. Soon, the blood truly ran out and the boar now looked like a crushed bottle of water. His bones retracted into his body while he licked his lips.

[I actually feel full now.]

He looked at the crushed boar before him with disdain.

[I guess some lucky beast will be getting a free meal today.]

He silently flew off into the sky, taking his time to process what he had experienced.

[Right. Looks like I’m not restricted to human blood…]

His eyes showed a dangerous glint.

[...though I am curious how it’d taste.]

He couldn’t help but smile, but quickly shook his head.

[Calm down Shawn. I have to familiarise myself with this new body of mine before I even think about interacting with humans.]

He plopped himself down by a river and looked at himself.

[I’m not giving off the aura of a dangerous beast in my current state.]

He was barely thirty centimetres long. He had a few tiny horns running in a single row on his back and two very small horns on his head. His claws were tiny but were very sharp.

He tried roaring but all that came out was a pitiful high-pitched yelp.

[Enough. I should find a shelter for tonight and fully understand what I can currently do.]
