Chapter 43: Devil Smile
Despite the wormhole’s growing size, Jason knew he still had a chance to close it before it was too late as it is still in its initial stage.
He was aware of the risks involved but determined to fight to the end rather than simply wait for his inevitable demise.
As he is aware of the fact that he is eventually going to die even if he succeeds or fails, until or unless some miracle happened.
So, if he is going to die then why not, he dies while trying to save his planet.
It didn’t bother him a little bit at the same time it made him proud as this is the first decision he made after accepting him fully.
Hence, he rather chooses to die while fighting and saving his planet instead of quietly watching it and waiting for his death.
Therefore, without delaying any further, he placed his eyes towards the Glendin.
As he prepared to take action, however, he was suddenly interrupted by a sudden rush of wind passing him.
When he turned, he saw no one other than the demons that are running out of the room but they had a panicked expression on them and he had no idea why.
When he turned back to face the Glendin his Jaw drooped on the ground from what he saw.
He was shocked to see a man in his mid-thirties standing beside the teleportation gate, holding the Glendin aloft by the neck with his right hand.
The sight of this mysterious figure filled Jason with a sense of dread and foreboding. He could sense that this man was no ordinary mortal, and he knew that he was in grave danger.
Nevertheless, he stood his ground, determined to face whatever came his way with courage and determination.
Despite what transpired right now deep inside he felt a sigh of relief as the person didn’t attack him but instead attack his enemy another thing is that the person is also a fellow human.
That’s what it seemed from his appearance but Jason is not 100% sure about whether the person has ill or good intentions.
So, despite all his senses telling him not to act against the man and yet he still raised his weapon and form a defensive stance.
Nonetheless, the man completely ignored Jason almost as if he never exits there.
The person caught the Glendin with his right hand and despite how much the latter is struggling his hand never moved an inch.
Seeing that it’s clear that whoever he was, he is not someone that Jason even stood a chance to put his finger on.
To put it another way, he is someone who exceeds the power level of both Jason and the Glendin.
Even so, he still didn’t kill or put any harm on the Glendin except for only holding his neck for preventing it from running away.
While Jason was thinking that the Glendin was struggling to somehow break free but someone more powerful and skilled person is there.
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
He would have known that the creature is not struggling to break free instead it is squirming and wiggling in pain due to someone forcefully reading its memory.
Nonetheless neither any sort of person is here to tell Jason that the Glendin is wiggling in pain instead of struggling to break free.
While Jason was thinking that the person is going to do something towards the Glendin but the person only stood there with the struggling Glendin in his hand.
10 secs passed, 20 secs passed but the situation remained the same, just like that 40 secs passed still the situation remained the same where the person is standing motionless with the struggling Glendin in his hand.
As time passed tension, Anxiety, uncertainty, doubt, fear all these types of different emotions started to arise inside Jason.
If someone else had experienced these same emotions, they may have still felt the pressure, but ultimately, they would have found a way to handle the situation.
Given that Jason was experiencing a range of emotions for the first time and that his desires, emotions, and feelings had been heightened due to his thirst for knowledge, it was understandable that he became overwhelmed.
As a result, he began to experience panic attacks one after another.
However, before the situation gets out of hand, The Glendin stopped his struggle and the person moved for the first time after more than 1 min.
Furthermore, after Glendin had stopped struggling, the individual threw the creature aside, and just like before, the body rolled over the ground a few times before coming to a stop. However, this time it was not Jason who faced this situation, but rather Glendin who had been tossed away.
After tossing Glendin aside, the individual made his way towards the beast's core. Before Jason could say anything to warn or stop him, the individual launched a couple of groups of punches on the core.
Each of the punches landed on the core with a deafening sound, resembling the impact of a nuclear missile strike on the ground. The intensity of the strikes was consistent throughout the assault, each one delivering a powerful blow to the beast's core.
At last, the punches finally stopped and surprisingly not even a single scratch appeared on the core but the same cannot be said for the individual.
As both his hands are ruptured everywhere bones were peeking out still it was not the most horrible thing that happened to him.
The once healthy skin of the Individual was now completely dry, with deep cracks running throughout its surface.
Blood leaked from the wounds caused by the strikes, adding to the already gruesome sight. Its hair was gone, seemingly burned down to the scalp and to make matters worse, the lower half of the individual body was now entirely burned away, leaving nothing but a charred, blackened mess.
Jason has now come to understand why both Rotarr and Archimedes had warned him against touching the core with his bare hands.
The severe damage inflicted upon the individual before him serves as a grim reminder of the danger that lurks within the core.
If Jason had disregarded their warnings and touched the core, it would have undoubtedly resulted in his demise given his current state of being at death's door.
Though before he can go towards the individual to provide him with medical care, his wounds start to heal hair started to grow on his head.
Just like that within less than 10 secs, he was back to his current peak, seeing that Jason got blown away which again increased his desire for knowledge and discovery of the secrets of this universe.
"Hmmm, this is much stronger than I initially anticipated. Let's see if this will cause any damage," the individual spoke loudly to him.
“Wait”
This time before the individual could take any further action, Jason shouted towards him.
To his surprise, the individual actually listened to Jason and stopped in his tracks. For the first time since his appearance, he turned his gaze towards Jason, and looked directly into his eyes.
However, as soon as Jason's eyes met with his, the look he received from the individual sent chills down his entire body.
At that moment, he regretted ever having stopped him. The expression on the individual's face was so menacing that it seemed as though he was contemplating Jason's demise.
Despite the overwhelming sense of fear that overtook him, Jason summoned all of his courage to speak up. He drew some assurance from the fact that the individual had listened to his words before, which gave him a glimmer of confidence to speak his mind.
"S-sir, I have something that can not only break this core but can also stop the teleportation gate,"
Jason said, his voice trembling with fear. For the first time, he felt himself fumbling while speaking to someone.
Even when he had faced Rotarr, he had never fumbled, but the overwhelming fear had left him struggling to speak coherently.
In stark contrast, the individual's expression suddenly turned ugly, as if he had heard something displeasing.
Despite his expression, he spoke up still maintaining his expression of disgust, his voice filled with nonchalance and disgust towards Jason.
"How could you possibly assume that I would destroy something that I have my hands to bring into existence?" the individual spoke up with an air of disdain towards Jason.
Upon hearing these words, Jason felt as though the ground beneath his feet had given way. A sense of fear unlike any he had ever felt before suddenly consumed every part of him.
Surprisingly, even though he had no intention of speaking, his mouth seemed to move on its own, as if someone else had taken control over him.
These were the exact words that came out of Jason's mouth, even though he had no intention of saying any of it.
Despite the harshness of Jason's words, the individual refrained from attacking him and allowed him to finish speaking. When Jason had finished, instead of getting angry, a smile bloomed on the individual's face.
As he observed the individual's smile, Jason couldn't help but feel as though he was conversing with some sort of devil. The smile on the individual's face reminded him of the devilish grins that he had seen in movies and read about in books.
