Chapter 25: Entered the Ancient city

"Thank you, Jason, for saving me," Lily said to Jason.

"There is no need for that. I know that if I had been in your situation, you would have done the same for me. So be strong, we have to go," Jason replied.

Jason and Lily started to go deeper into the city, which had been turned into ruins. If anyone looked at the architecture and design of the city, they would know that it had once been a magnificent place.

"Did all of you enter inside the door?" Jason asked.

Then, Lily narrated her side of the journey and how they ended up inside the door.

"But Jason, how did you end up inside the door?" Lily asked curiously.

The sudden question caught Jason off guard, but he quickly handled the situation.

"Oh, I don't know about that. I only remember that I was with you guys, and then suddenly a bright light blinded me. When I opened my eyes, I found myself in front of the door."

"When I tried to contact you guys, I didn't get any signal, so as a last option, I entered inside the door," Jason said.

"Oh, I see. But when we were there, the door was closed," Lily asked.

"How would I know? Maybe after entering the door, it automatically closes. Don't ever ask me this type of silly question again," Jason said somewhat angrily.

"I'm sorry. I'm just curious," Lily said, lowering her head in shame.

"Never mind. Let's focus on finding the rest of our team and the location of the core and portal," Jason said.

"Lily, do you know any spells that can help us find the location of our other teammates?" Jason asked.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

"No, I don't know that type of spell," Lily said.

Hearing Lily's reply, Jason became disappointed, as he would have to search the whole place to find them, and who knows how big this place is. As he was thinking this, Lily's next words made him come out of his disappointment.

"Don't get disappointed. I don't know that type of spell, but I know a spell that can detect any living thing in a 3km radius," Lily said.

"That will be enough for now," Jason said, knowing that something is better than nothing.

"Okay, it will take a few seconds," Lily said.

She started to chant something in an unknown language, and after she finished chanting the spell, a symbol appeared above Lily's head.

"Did you find anything?" Jason asked, as he still hadn't received a reply from Lily.

"Yes, I did. But it's coming from over there. I can't exactly pinpoint the location, and the other thing is that more than one signal is coming from there," Lily said, pointing towards an old-looking building.

"Approximately how many signals are you getting?" Jason asked.

"I don't know, but it will be more than 40 at a minimum," Lily said.

"Let's go, then," Jason said, and he dragged Lily with him towards the old building.

After entering the building, they didn't find anything. But after searching for a few minutes, they discovered a path that led who knows where.

Lily said that the signals were coming from inside the path.

Jason and Lily entered the path, and they slowly started to move forward, but they didn't have to wait for long.

The sounds of battle started to come, and Jason and Lily increased their pace.

After 2 minutes, the battle came into view, but Jason knew it was not looking good. Being in front of Lily, he saw Bhim, Suzzy, and Jerry fighting more than 100 rank 7 goblins, already on their last breath with injuries all over their bodies, trying their best to kill the goblins.

Jason jumped towards the battlefield, activated his mana circulation technique, and made his weapons start burning.

He used almost his full strength and slashed his weapons towards the horde of goblins.

A single slash killed nearly 20 goblins at once.

Then, he went towards the three of them and said something. After hearing his words, all three of them nodded at once.

POV shifted to Bhim

After emerging from the dark tunnel, I found myself in a mysterious forest, still unable to locate any of my teammates. With no other options available, I ventured further into the woods.

For the first ten minutes of my journey, all seemed peaceful. Suddenly, however, I detected movement in the bushes, and before I knew it, 10 to 15 green, humanoid creatures pounced on me.

Initially, I couldn't believe my eyes. The creatures were the type that only appear in movies and novels, and I knew them well from a film I had watched with a friend once before: Goblins.

Recovering from my shock, I quickly wielded my weapons and took down the goblins, who turned out to be quite weak. Yet, as soon as they were defeated, their bodies disintegrated into dust.

Despite my confusion, I had no choice but to continue moving forward into the forest, as I was still searching for my teammates. As I did, I encountered even more goblins, whose levels began to increase as I proceeded further into the forest.

After defeating a group of 30 rank 5 goblins, I paused to recover my mana, but I suddenly heard the sound of gunfire in the distance. Following the noise, I came across my teammates, Jerry and Suzzy, who had also been battling goblins.

"Thank goodness I found you both," I said in relief. "I was starting to think I was alone in this place."

"We were thinking the same thing," Jerry replied.

After a brief conversation and some much-needed rest, we continued our journey, encountering and defeating even more goblins along the way.

Finally, after an hour of fighting, we emerged from the forest only to be confronted by a blinding light. When we opened our eyes, we found ourselves standing in front of an ancient-looking city.

With Jerry and Suzzy at my side, I was less alarmed this time. We entered the city and began to explore, sticking together to avoid getting separated.

Soon, we stumbled upon a building with a path leading inside. With no other leads, we took a chance and entered.

Little did we know, we were walking into a trap.

After travelling for 10 to 15 minutes, we found ourselves in a large hall. From the air, Rank 7 goblins began to appear, and within a few moments, over 300 of them had swarmed the hall, surrounding us on all sides.
