Inside a quiet hallway, with concrete walls on the left and right. I leaned against the wall while catching my breath. My chest was a little tight these days, even though I had adjusted the clothes I was wearing to fit my body shape.
Have I gotten fatter? It's strange, as far as I'm concerned, I should be past my growing years?
Even my face looks like an office lady who wears work clothes all the time.
"There's nothing strange."
Looking at my palm which was covered by a red leather glove. There was nothing there, everything looked normal.
"No, it's the world that's starting to look strange."
I was still thinking about that in my head, the abnormal phenomenon of humans being able to summon lightning. At first glance, it clearly contradicted all modern science.
Humans couldn't possibly create lightning of that magnitude. That's for sure.
Shaking my head a few times in order to erase any form of irrational thinking, for example something like magic or something like that. I've always believed that science is the truth, there's no such thing as magic. That word would only be said by humans who are lazy to use their heads.
The idea of magic is obviously a bunch of nonsense that has been left over since humans started evolving in ancient times. Yes, evolution, evolution.
Wait-
"Evolution? Human, body?"
My feet began to move. Passing through the dark, silent hallway while placing a finger just below my chin.
I then entered a nearby elevator and pressed the button. The elevator moved down through all the floors, until it stopped at a quiet floor.
This was the floor where all the research journals were kept. Most of the data was printed out on paper and some was stored on computers.
But because this room was filled with frozen ice, important data could not be read because the ink was mixed with a lot of water when I melted the ice. This is very unfortunate.
If only all these Journals could be read, I would definitely find something.
Okay, stop, if I give up now, it will look like I'm a pitiful woman.
I won't give up. Let's think carefully, what's really going on.
Firstly, I suspect that the genetic engineering that was done in this bunker might not be just biological engineering, there might be something deeper than that.
Secondly, that strange man with the stick looks like an ordinary human. In fact, the biological structure of living things will always adapt to its environment so that organs capable of creating unique abilities will give rise to differences in body structure. A corrupted world on top of this bunker should have forced genetic mutations in humans so that there was some kind of oddity in the man's physical body, and of course it should be visible to the naked eye.
Thirdly, that strange lightning is a fact that I cannot possibly refute.
If all the clues are in order, perhaps humans mutated to be able to create lightning? Since the beginning, the human body can store electricity, that's also the reason why some devices using the touch of a hand as a trigger are possible to make.

Wait? Wait?
"What if, the human body is the trigger and there are other objects as energy sources. But what kind of genetic engineering would make a human capable of going that far?"
I then looked to the side. There was a stick with a strange gem, the wooden stick belonged to the man in the isolation room.
Is that the source of energy strong enough to create lightning?
....
In the isolation room, David blinked several times.
His mind was filled with questions. What kind of place was he in now, an all-white room with only a metal table and a soft bed.
Although it was strange, this place felt more comfortable than an inn room in a nearby town. The air was very fresh and David didn't feel hot either.
He then whispered to himself.
"What a strange place, I didn't think ruins could be a comfortable place to live in."
Before long, a strange metal door in front of him made a small sound. From there white smoke came out then faded in the air replaced by a woman's small voice.
Strangely, even though what was in front of David was a woman, the voice sounded so heavy.
The woman had short white hair with black bangs, her eyes exuding a mysterious aura but filled with confidence and a hint of arrogance.
It was as if she looked at David as nothing more than an animal. As far as David knew, this kind of arrogance was usually possessed by nobles, but David knew, there would be no normal humans or nobles living in this ruin.
After David thought about things, he finally reached a conclusion.
"Is it possible that you're a reawakened ancestor?"
Not caring what David said, the mysterious woman then approached David. She then placed the cup of water and the meat steak on the table.
In silence, the woman then opened her mouth.
"Is your body feeling better, ****?"
David instantly became confused, he understood part of what she said, but he didn't understand the other part either. It was as if the woman herself had deliberately said something in two different languages.
"I feel better, thank you for your kindness...hmm..Miss."
"People of ****? By any chance, are you from ****? No, maybe your ancestors are from there."
It was very difficult for David to talk to such a woman. There were so many words that David couldn't understand, and he was also very confused about how he should behave.
Fortunately, the woman showed no hostility. So David should at least try to be nice.
He nodded slowly while grabbing the plate that the woman was carrying, David then placed it on the table. After a while, the woman took out a strange book.
"Do you understand what's written here?"
David's eyes widened slightly, he then tried to read what was written on the book. But he could not understand anything, because the book itself had very faint letters, as if the book had been soaked in water for a long time so that the ink faded.
"I'm sorry, Miss. I don't understand what the people of the past wrote."
The neatly dressed woman then opened the book. She seemed to be searching for something, eventually she stopped and asked David again.
An inscription on the paper showed small letters. David recognized the letters, they were the letters of the Scaramur kingdom, witches used that language to cast spells.
According to historical records, the language of magic itself is actually much older than the kingdom of Scaramur. However, there was no written record of a country or civilization before the Scaramur kingdom, so the wizards including David always believed that the language itself was handed down directly by the gods.
And now, the mysterious woman was also using the Scaramur language. Perhaps, she was a witch too? Or is she a blessed user?
David then read the writing.
"It says here, Pyro Resonance."
"Is that so?"
Hearing what David said, the woman nodded slowly as she closed the book and put it aside. She was silent for a while as if she was thinking about something.
After that, she then smiled to offer a cup of tea.
"Your body will recover soon if you drink this."
It was just a tea, but since it was offered by an ancestor, it might actually be able to restore David's body.
David immediately drank the tea. The warm water flowing down his throat began to spread throughout his body, his arms and legs were suddenly unable to move, this was probably some kind of side effect from the medication. Sometimes, strong medicine will feel so strange to those who try it for the first time.
But, all that confidence was a big mistake. David had made a mistake.
Just as David's eyes opened wide, his whole body didn't move an inch. The throat heated up as if it had been burned with fire, so all that was left was an excruciating pain.
"Ahtk...."
David couldn't even move his lips.
The perpetrator, the woman with short white hair in front of David now then moved her hand.
"Tongue, throat and number of teeth. All without the slightest change."
The woman kept saying something strange while continuously touching David's face. No one knew what the woman really wanted to do. She just kept saying random sentences. Over and over again without stopping.
"Do you know, the journal you read studied implanting a CBI chip in the human body. This should be research that was abandoned long ago, but why are similar journals piling up in many locations?"
The woman continued to move her hands, she then went to David's back to look at the back of the ear.
"The number of journals is quite large so it would be quite possible that somehow the scientists found something. And they managed to test it directly."
For some reason the woman was now hugging David's head. Her breasts covered by the uniform clinging to David's head made all his thoughts messy, what exactly did she want to do?
"CBI technology was originally used to enable the human brain to interact with electrified machines. In some further developments, the results exceeded expectations."
The woman paused before continuing in a weaker voice.
"The CBI is able to map all the nerve functions in the human brain as well as being able to communicate like human nerve cells, and that means, the CBI is able to control the entire human body. That's amazing, isn't it? It gives me great pleasure to show others the beauty of science but I'm sorry, I need you to confirm something."
The woman then stopped speaking. Her hand was now wrapped around David's neck, due to momentum, her hand then twisted quickly.
Crack!
The sound of bones breaking echoed throughout the room.
There was no rebellion or even the slightest attempt at survival, David was completely helpless when death came to him.
Before all consciousness was lost, he began to forget all the memories of his life, leaving only a belief that he should not have come to a place like this.
Behind the bloodless corpse, the woman with short white hair apologized. Her voice was so soft it seemed to blend with the air.
"Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is White Hazel, a former ordinary employee."
She did not seem to regret what she did, as she realized that her hands had always been covered in blood for a long time.
