~34~

GMD Shipyard Corp. was located within the world-renowned Brooklyn Navy Yard and was the largest dry dock facility in New York City. The shipyard itself boasted three graving docks in addition to 1100′ of the wet berth and offered twenty-four-hour operational capabilities.

Complementing the yard’s full-service machine, pipe, and valve shops was a professional staff of experienced marine fabrication and repair craftsmen.

Also, that was where the Nether Elite was. Their shipment arrived on time, as Noel promised it would. By their paperwork that Adrian had wisely taken from the meeting yesterday, the numbers matched up to the crates they were looking for. Scouring the area, they wasted little time finding the first container; crate number 0147.

Natalia and Ayeka unlocked the door and opened the first container together. Adrian and Kayla turned on their flashlights to look inside only to find nothing but ruin. The crate was not empty, that’s for sure. However, with their discovery, they wish it was.

One by one, the original contents of the crates were gone and were replaced by a lifetime supply of dog and cat food. To make matters worse, one container even had scratching posts for cats and chew toys for dogs. And a dollop of whipped cream on the insult sundae was four comically large eating pet bowls engraved with all their names on the front to them, respectively.

Adrian went inside one of the crates and tore open one of the cardboard boxes containing the dog food. She took one of the cans and examined it. She couldn’t help but find some humor in this. “How very thoughtful of them. Those cheeky bastards.”

“I… I guess N-noel was right after all…” Natalia relented.

“Now we know our next move, ladies. I will set up set up the meeting, but I would like for you all of us to go back to Madrid,” Adrian announced.

“Cool, we get to see what his house looks like!” Ryoko was excited.

“Yeah, yeah, lucky us,” Natalia fretted.

As the group take their leave of the shipyard, they are met with a few SUV trucks. Making an immediate stop, Killer Queen got out of one of the vehicles from the backseat and walked up to the Nether Elite with purpose.

Natalia was stunned by this. “What the hell are you doing here?!”

Not responding to Natalia’s question, she met with the with the group face-to-face. It was about time somebody gave her answers. Natalia regrettably repeated herself, “Motherfucker! Aren’t you supposed to be dead!?”

The Killer Queen was breathing heavily, “What does it look like? Where’s the cargo?!”

To answer her question, Adrian tossed Shayna the can of dog food she was holding. “Here you go, Killer Queen. Money well spent. So, what are we supposed to do with that?”

Examining the can of food, Shayna shrugged. “I don’t know. Go nuts with it. Why don’t you give it to your brother? I mean damn, he eats everything in front of him,” Afterward, she tossed it over to Ayeka as she instinctively caught it. However, Adrian didn’t take Shayna’s insults very lightly.

“Well, that’s what is inside the crates,” Adrian emphasized. “You know, a part of me actually had faith in you.”

Shayna scoffed. “Oh, faith in me? You should really talk. That’s why you told me to stay behind?”

“Yes, that’s why. If you are stupid enough to let one of your little actresses get herself killed and everyone else, then yes. Then again, you are dumb enough to get punked out by Xerxes’ kids.”

Shayna immediately had a coughing fit. She went through her jacket pocket to pull out her inhaler. She shook the inhaler and took two puffs from it. “The info was spot on. You knew I was good for it.”

“At a time, you were ‘good for it.’ But not anymore,” Adrian corrected.

Shayna always knew she was in great danger, dealing with the Nether Elite. It was only a matter of time before she made a mistake, and she would die for it. “What, you going to kill me now?”

Fortunately for Shayna, Adrian found humor in it. “Like I said before: You are good for it. But not anymore.”

With those words, the Nether Elite left him behind. Not before Adrian gave Shayna some parting words. “It’s all yours, Shayna. You earned it.”

Walking to their sports car, the Nether Elite went in. Kayla decided to drive as Adrian rode shotgun, and Natalia and Ayeka rode in the backseat.

“So, the dead have risen again,” Natalia mocked.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if someone intercepted the info about the cargo on its way over here,” Ayeka suggested. “I’m betting the loadout crossed so many country lines and then landed into the United Kingdom.”

“Yeah, the same territory Redgrave operates,” Adrian agreed.

“So, we are going to his Majesty’s house,” Ayeka questioned.

“What are the options that are given to us? At this point, we have nothing to lose. We just need to know who this person is before we do business with him. So yes, but not right now,” Adrian confirmed.

“And we are not going to tell Shayna after she coughed up 27 million?” Natalia interjected.

“Easy come go, Natalia. Maybe she could try to break even with being a food distributor. Kayla, before we retire tonight, I would like you to drive me somewhere else and drop me off. There is someone I want to meet personally,” Adrian mocked as Kayla drove off the property.
