Then his assistant power walked into the office moments after the group left. She leaned over to Jason with a sly smile on her face. “We should hook you up with masterclass.com; Commissioner Jason Lynn on how to be so savage.”
Jason chuckled at her compliment. “I wouldn’t call it a skill, Diana. It’s more like a talent.”
“Whatever it is, I kind of like it.” The assistant Diana blushed happily.
“Oh, please. You’re the one that should go to masterclass.com and teach some courses on how to insult someone in a different language. You knew one of them can read people’s minds, but you didn’t even care.”
Diana shrugged, “So?”
Then suddenly, Jason’s landline started to ring. He answered the phone, “Jason Zayne speaking.”
“Cody Boyd,” a young man responded as Jason wholeheartedly laughed.
“Detective Boyd! How are you this morning?”
“I’m doing fine. The precinct I am working with just caught the same case we were on yesterday. Two of the surviving old guys didn’t make it to the hospital last night, making the death toll exactly twenty-three.” Cody informed.
“So I heard. Hey, Diana is here with me. I’ll put you on speakerphone,” Jason pressed a button on his phone and hung up the receiver. Now, the three of them can speak to Andrea over the speaker, “Okay, go ahead, Cody.”
“We did a routine sweep of the unsub's weapon choices: a hunting knife and a 357 Magnum. The victims were trained professional killers themselves, yet one person did all of this…” Cody sounded confused.

“Maybe it was one person,” Jason suggested. “This wasn’t done in a fit of rage or improvised. This was mapped out. Every killing was carefully planned or graciously improvised.”
“That’s what I picked up,” Cody confirmed. “Even left a calling card in Aramaic.”
“‘Do you understand?’ I saw the pictures, but couldn’t make out the symbol underneath it…” Jason reminisces.
“We did a routine toxicology report on the late Killer Queen. According to her medical records, she had type I diabetes. In her blood work, there was no trace of insulin that was prescribed to her.”
“Maybe she was undiagnosed with diabetes,” Jason suggested.
“Oh, she knows. Shayna was hospitalized twice for high glucose levels,” Cody debunked. “However, in this victim’s blood work, there were no abnormalities of any kind.”
“Strange…” Diana contemplated as Cody continued.
“Even stranger, this girl went under the knife too many times. The x-rays show dental implants and plastic surgery for her nose, cheeks, and chin. she even had color contact lenses and hairline realignments.”
“Thousands of dollars of dental and facial work. That makes sense. The Killer Queen, who died in the warehouse last night, was a fake,” Jason concluded.
“Most of the cosmetic surgery was done recently, so I ran her mitochondrial DNA in the criminal databases, and he has no criminal records.”
“Try checking for civilian records, like blood donations,” Cody suggested. “Just a hunch. But up close, she seemed awfully young. Maybe the woman donated blood for money.”
“Yeah, the woman was in perfect health and was clean for drugs. But then again, we did find some fresh needle marks. If she donated blood, there would be a record of it to prove he was clean. Since this is a criminal investigation, me getting a public search for her medical records won’t be a problem. I’ll contact the Medical Examiner’s Office in order to do different searches. Good day, Commissioner,” Cody concludes.
“Later, Cody,” Mordechai chimes in.
“I guess that’s one unsolved case for us to solve…” Diana stated.
“While Cody investigates this matter with Meridian, we will keep Lady Memento in the loop,” Jason said as Diana nodded in agreement.
