Ever since Pretty could remember, she had a pink renisas.
Everyone she knew had white renisas, but hers was always pink.
When she was a kid, everyone in the Summit had deemed her to have no talent in renisas weaving. It was not because she had poor control in it, she just had no renisas at all.
It was not when she was ten that she found out that she had one and it was in the color of pink.
When she was growing up, everytime she was in intense emotions, a pink cloud of stuff would burst in her vision and it would disappear afterwards. She never equate it as her renisas. It was common knowledge that renisas were white. Most of those who were living in the Summit could see it and they have never seen any white renisas on her. She was literally blank.
So she thought that those pink renisas were just a normal thing for a person to see whenever they were too angry and too scared. Later, she found out in a quick google search that it was not normal to see pink clouds whenever a person was in intense emotions, so she instead thought she had an eye or mental defect.
It was not until one normal day that she found out what it was.
One day when she was ten, she was hiding in some bush near the Summit school when she heard one of the teachers come to the garden she was at and started educating his students. She was already having a hard time studying by herself that time as she only had herself to teach herself and the noise from the class would only distract her more.
In truth, the school did not welcome her.
She was about to walk away when she heard the topic that they were discussing. It was about how to sense one’s renisas.
Out of desperation and curiosity, she stayed instead and listened to the teacher's instruction. She might not have any renisas as everyone claimed but deep inside her, she had a fantasy that she might have one. She just had to unlock her potential just like those main characters in comics she had read before.
Even if it was a weak one or a small amount of renisas, she would take it. She knew what had happened to those who could not even wield their renisas properly.
Discarded and vanished from the summit. She did not want that, as a girl with a weak body, she was scared of the jungle outside the Summit. She did not want to die.
So she sat there quietly without making her presence known and listened to the teacher rambled to his students about how hard it was to sense one’s rentom and renisas. How it needed a lot of process and realization for a kid to understand. That they should be thankful that the Summit was teaching them how to, because they would not be able to learn it without them.
That day, she learned together with the students that even if sensing renisas was hard, there was an easier way to go about it, a shortcut.
She stared there with envy as the teacher probed the students body with his renisas. He was letting them feel his renisas, to be aware of its existence so that they would know what to sense within them.
She badly wanted to beg the teacher for her to feel his renisas too, but she was scared. She was a timid and unconfident girl back then. She also knew he would turn her down, and she did not want to hear any chiding and insult from anyone, especially in front of many students.
But she still hide in that little bush everyday for almost a month, watching the students tried their best to feel their renisas. She only left when a month later, when one by one the students finally could sense a little of their renisas. She waited all day that day for the teacher and students to come and start their class but no one came. She belatedly realized they must have changed their class venue.

She went home downhearted expecting to enter a cold and empty house but someone was in there. Her father had not gone home for weeks and she had not seen him even for a month. Her father usually slept and stayed at his labs for weeks, but that night he came home.
They were not close with each other but Fredrin was the only one Pretty had. Pushed by her dispirited day and desperation, she mustered her courage and asked him to run his renisas on her. She thought he would refuse as she knew he did not like wasting time but he agreed to her request that time.
She sat there excited and full of nerves while Fredrin started flowing his renisas on her. Suddenly, as if her eyes had opened to something she had missed her whole life, a part of herself just clicked and there, around her, were the pink clouds of renisas she used to see when she was in intense emotion. They pulsed with a beat like sound waves, reflecting the excitement she’s feeling.
By then, she had learned a lot from the teacher to know from the pink cloud’s behavior around her that it was a renisas.
She told Fredrin about it but he did not believe her. He was only skeptical as he could not see any renisas around her. When she told him it’s pink, he just assumed she was lying and making things up.
But it did not change the fact that she had a renisas. It’s just no one could see it. It took a giant feat for her in order to convince everyone that she had a renisas.
It was nine years ago, and in that nine years, her renisas never changed its color. But now, it had changed into a bright red color.
She had never seen or heard of someone who had a different color of renisas, it was always white. Simon had a gray one that time in the Summit, but gray renisas was not a rare renisas. It was the renisas of the dead, specifically those who have died badly.
Her having an invisible pink renisas was already a huge mystery in the Summit. They had tried to learn the reason for it but they have not found anything. With regards to her renisas changing colors, she had no idea where to get the answer from.
Besides, the answers were irrelevant to her situation. She was still stuck in the pit and her red renisas was not helping her. She also suspected that maybe her renisas changing color was the reason she could not use her ability but she doubted it, it still felt the same to her and she could control it with no problem.
Now that she thought about it, she was even controlling it better than before. It was little but she could feel the difference. Her control must have grown from her death excursion in the Summit.
Regardless, she still ordered her renisas to change its color. She ordered it to change back into pink, and was genuinely surprised to see some parts of her renisas changing into pink. She was just casually trying it and not expecting any result. Her renisas could change colors..
She immediately activated any of her ability and controlled the pink renisas to enter her body but unfortunately, like with her red ones, they were not doing anything.
She sighed defeated as the pink renisas turned back into red. She stopped marveling at the mystery of her renisas. She was just tired and hungry.
As she was thinking that, her nose twitched when a waft of something so bizarre in the vomit-inducing pit fluttered through her olfactory senses. It was for a second, but she smelt something good. As a proof that it was not her imagination, her stomach panged so hard of hunger and her dry mouth suddenly salivated.
She took another whiff but the smell was gone. She instead took an unwilling smell of the pit and it effectively removed any hunger in her.
Just like that she was left baffled and miserable. She must have imagined it then.
She did not let it bring her emotions down and tried thinking of things or solutions she could do to alleviate her situation but she came up with nothing. She was helpless and she felt it.
This has never happened before. Even if she was running for her life in the Summit or when she was lying in a basement floor, miserable and dying, she still knew she had options. She knew she could still try to attempt things to alleviate her situation even if the chances were low. She had options and a chance.
But as she was lying in the middle of a smelly garbage pit, tired, hungry but still alive, she felt lost for the first time in a long while.
Before, she had mystical things, abilities that normal people couldn’t even fathom to dream of and somehow, it had given her the comfort and the backing she needed to face the day confidently. But she had lost them. She was alone now, with only her useless body and defective renisas.
When she was hungry, she always had food with her. When she was bored she could just whip a lot of fun things in her storage anytime she wanted. When she’s injured, she could use her med kit anytime and anywhere.
She could even pull out makeshift homes from her storage. Anywhere was home for her. She was confident that wherever she went, she was still secured, as she could face anything and she could escape anything. But now, she could not even summon a drop of water.
