Wesley is absolutely devastated by the news of Delsey's disappearance. He runs home and spends the next three hours going through every letter that Delsey had sent him. He makes a list of all the places Delsey had mentioned she was interested in visiting, which was a very long list. Delsey was not happy here in dark city. With all the fighting and arguing going on and her father losing interest in his Pokémon's well-being and instead pushing them to be stronger just to fight, not to mention many of the people in town began hating Pokémon and anyone involved with them because of everything involved with the rival gyms, she was ready to visit anywhere. She talked about Viridian City, Mount Moon, Sunny Town, Cerulean City, the Seafoam Islands, Pallet Town and those were just the places in Kanto. Delsey wanted to travel the world and with a two week headstart finding her could be impossible. But Wesley was determined, he decided that in the morning he was going to head to the Seafoam Islands to begin his journey to find his lost friend.
Before his father returned home he packed his bag and tried hiding it under his bed. His father wouldn't understand how strong Wesley and Delsey's friendship is and how important it was for Wesley to find her. Obviously everyone wanted to find Delsey, but Wesley knew that no one else but him could. Her father didn't understand her or even really know her. All he knew was the story's she would tell and the go team attitude she would portray. When in reality she didn't like living every moment of her day at the gym with her father, always being pushed to be the best trainer she could be for the wrong reasons and in the wrong ways.
When Wesley's father returned home Wesley layed in his bed pretending to sleep. His father sat down on his bed put a hand on wesley's shoulder and says
"I know your awake son."
Wesley roles over in his bed and sits up. Waiting for his father to try and comfort him that Delsey will be found.
"I see you've packed a travel bag and I know what your thinking." His father says
"You cant stop me dad. I know i can find her." Wesley says to his father very determined.
"And I won't try to stop you." His father says with a low tone and a half grin "When I was your age I was already out in the world starting my Pokémon journey. I could see it in your face when you left the gym that you had a plan. If you feel you need to go than go. This journey would be much more important than any Pokémon journey, but please be careful and try to keep us informed."
His father gives Elekid a rub between the electrical prongs on its head and then walks toward the door to leave. Before he can Wesley simply says
"Thank you, dad."
His father smiles, nods and goes to bed.
Stunned that his father is not only okay with Wesley's plan of finding Delsey, but encouraging it, Wesley sets his alarm for 5 a.m. so he can begin his journey to find Delsey.
Wesley tosses and turns for hours before he is finally able to sleep and even when he does his mind wonders and begins to play games with him.
Visions of a serpent in the distance flash in his head. Delsey's screams begin echoing in the background. A sight of her falling into a black abyss of nothing, a black two headed bird grabbing at her as she continues to fall. As the bird caws it sounds like delsey shrieking in fear. Than a final vision of giant red eyes and delsey falling into the jaws of a large black wolf like Pokémon. As the teeth close down to swallow her wesley sits up waking from his nightmare in a cold sweat.
Wesley, shaken by his nightmare, gets up quickly and gets dressed. He returns his sleeping elekid back into its pokeball. He grabs his backpack from under his bed and quietly sneaks downstairs. When he reaches the bottom of the stairs the light in the kitchen is on. On the counter is delsey's missing poster, a pokedex and a small box with a note. The note reads
"Wesley, we know your not a child anymore but we will always worry. Please be careful and write us when ever you are able. Inside this box is an electirizer it will evolve your pokemon when you feel the time is right. we have been saving it for you ever since your egg hatched. Take it and use it when you and elekid are ready. I know the school doesnt want you to have a pokedex yet just so you dont start to rely on it for answers but you may need it on your journey. We love you son and we hope your journey is successful.

Love mom and dad"
With tears in his eyes Wesley rips off a corner and simply writes
"Thank you, I love you both too." And leaves it on the counter
Wesley puts the box, pokedex and letter in the front pocket of his backpack and heads out the door with the missing poster in hand.
Wesley heads toward route 20. It's very dark and eerily quiet along the path. Every time a pidgey flies the vision of the two headed black bird pokemon flashes in Wesley's mind. Around every tree he sees the red eyes of the wolf Pokémon and every time he hears a twig break he invision the jaws clamping down swallowing Delsey. His walk turns to a run as he begins leaping over fallen tree trunks and ducking under branches Rattata and Raticate are spooked out of their hiding places as wesley charges by. Caterpie and weedle move quickly off the path the get to safety as he determainly runs to get to the shore line and off to the Seafoam islands.
When Wesley arrives at the shore line he is completely exhausted from running but tries to remain focused. He begins walking down the shore line as the sun starts to rise. Now he just needs to find a way across the large open water. There are several places renting out boats but due to reports from others, high waves and no reason for them, they are not allowing anyone to take the boats out. Wesley keeps walking down the shore line. Asking anyone with a boat to take him across, but to no avail. Everyone who has been on the the water is terrified at the thought of even going back out. Wesley could hear one person recalling what he experienced.
"It was the strangest thing." The gentleman says "I was on my way to the islands and the sky was clear, the water was calm and there was no wind. It was perfect for throwing out a line and take some extra time to just enjoy the day. But out of nowhere a huge wave hit the side of my boat and I fell out. I couldn't reach my boat. The waves got so bad I didn't think I would make it. The more I swam the further I seemed to be. I got lucky one of the tie off ropes fell out and I was able to get hold of it to pull myself back onto the boat. Even when I got back in I had no idea which direction I was pointed. I just started moving forward. My compass started just spinning in all directions than boom it was over. The waves went down and it was calm again."
Many people were talking and speculating what could have caused it. Five or six others had similar things happen and no one could explain it. One of them was showing the damage their boat sustained during their experience. When wesley looked at one side there was sand and wood chunks stuck in the side and appeared to be from a collision with another boat. According to the owner they were out there alone for a little midnight cruise on the water. There wasn't any other boats nearby.
Wesley is beginning to lose hope already. If he can't even make it across the first bit of open water, how is he going to find Delsey with who knows how many other obstacles ahead of him. He keeps walking the shore line. He was about to give up for now until he sees a sign up ahead.
"Free Lapras rides" it says. Wesley begins jogging over and finds an older gentleman sitting in a folding chair.
"Hey there son. You lookin to take a ride?"
"Are you willing to today?" Wesley asks expecting to hear no.
"I ain't afraid of no storm. My Lapras has been through some mighty bad storms before and she is rock solid and ready to take on big waves." He says with a grin.
He takes out a pokeball and sends out Lapras. His Lapras was big and beautiful with a very large arm muscles from taking on the heavy storms.
"If your not worried neither am I than." Wesley says reaching out to pet Lapras on the head.
"Very good" the gentleman says. "Than hop on and enjoy the ride."
"Aren't you coming too?" Wesley asked with a confused tone.
"Lapras has made that trip so many times I won't need to." He explains "Once she drops you off at the island she'll come right back. Just don't get any ideas about stealing her. She's a tough nut and will make sure you live to regret it."
"Oh, no!" Wesley exclaims "I wouldn't dream of it! I'm not a thief. I just want to go to the islands and search for my missing friend!" Wesley shows the gentleman the missing poster "You wouldn't happen to have seen her have you?"
The gentleman looks at the poster and pauses. He turns his head slightly and grabs his notebook. As he opens the notebook he runs his finger down each page, scanning his notes. When he finds what he was look for he taps his finger on a page "ah-ha yes, Delsey right?"
"Yes!" Wesley says excitedly
"She took a ride on Lapras about two weeks ago. Said she wanted to meet Professor Oak in person. You'll need to go to Pallet Town. Lapras can take you there. Hand me that poster."
The gentleman takes the poster from Wesley and walks up to the front of Lapras and holds up the missing poster. "Lapras have great memory. She'll bring you to the exact spot that she dropped off Delsey. Now hop up and hold on tight. When I give Lapras the command she'll understand the urgency."
Wesley quickly climbes onto lapras and holds on to her shell tight. After looking at the poster a moment lapras closes her eyes. The gentleman tucks the poster into Wesley's pocket.
"You'll be needing that back. Now hold on tight." The gentleman says before snapping his fingers twice and letting out a loud whistle.
As soon as the gentleman whistles lapras opens her eyes and bolts toward the water diving in and swims quickly. The water is calm there is only a slight breeze and the sun is shining bright. It's perfect out and Lapras is moving just as fast as any of the boats would have. After about 20 minutes of smooth sailing, there is no shore in sight behind them and it's a nice straight shot to pallet with clear sky's ahead, Or are there?
