Wesley Kazario, a boy who grew up in dark city has been studying at the pokemon school for boys for four years. He is confident when it comes to pokemon knowledge but even though he can rattle off all the statistics of nearly any pokemon, he has never felt the urge to go out and capture them, hes just never felt that taking a pokemon from their home was the best way to build a bond or trust.
Five years ago Wesley's father, a man who works hard to become a certified gym leader, returned home after one of his many trainings. He spoke to wesley of the importance of the bond between trainer and pokemon and gave Wesley a pokemon egg. His father told him that if he ever wanted to succeed as a trainer, the egg was were to begin. It would teach wesley responsibility and it would be up to him to learn from and form a bond with what ever pokemon came from it. Wesley took this special moment with his father to heart. At the end of the summer his parents sent him off to the Galor region to begin his studies of pokemon.
Wesley has never fit in with the other kids at the school and spent much of his first year in his room studying and caring for the egg his father had given him. One day after class a bully was picking on Wesley and pushed him cracking his pokemon egg. That would be the last day the bully picked on him, at least this year. When the egg cracked it began to shake. As the shell began opening up a cute little face looked at Wesley and saw the bruise on his chin. A small electrical jolt burst out of the egg shocking the bully. When the sparks stopped flying a small Elekid stood, standing up for Wesley. Wesley and Elekid have been inseparable ever since. Being the only kid with their first pokemon Elekid made him feel strong.
His second year was tough. When all the kids returned to school after summer vacation they were given their first pokemon to train. Their Pokémon progression would determine their grades and battling was not Wesley's area of expertise. The first half of the year went well, learning about different attacks and defenses was fun, but the second half of the year was a big struggle. When he was starting to be paired with other kids and told to battle Wesley's brain would shut down. He had no strategy and would just call out attacks. Wesley and Elekid rarely ever won unless he was paired against a water type. he had no idea how to adapt to different situations or what defensive moves to direct Elekid. When the final exam came around Wesley was scared to death. The exam was a pokemon battle against his professor. The professor would pull a random pokeball out of a box and battle each kid with a different Pokémon. When it was Wesley's turn he stepped onto the battle platform shaking like a leaf. He could feel his classmates eyes on him and hear their snide remarks. The only reason wesley passed his final exam was his professor pulled out a pokeball containing Piplup. He won the battle but was still graded a C as his only strategy was to hit piplup with electrical attacks. Elekid took on a lot of damage in what should have been an easier battle.
When his second year ended and his father learned of his grades and struggles with battling, he began bringing wesley to the gym everyday. It was not the year for Wesley to be at his father's gym. Another gym leader hopeful had moved to town while wesley was at school and his father began pushing his pokemon harder, and quit focusing on building a bond with them. He started recruiting trainers to face off against the other gym hopeful. Wesley did not learn much at all from his father that summer. The only thing that came of all of it was Delsey, the daughter of another one of the trainers at the gym. She was nice and adored her pokemon. She was also a bit rebellious from all the fighting going on between the gyms. Delsey and Wesley would sneak away when ever there was confrontation and just take walks with their pokemon around the woods nearby, than sneak back with far fetched tails about how they beat up on the other gyms pokemon making their fathers feel proud.

His third year of schooling was focused solely on advanced attacks and things like Dynomaxing or Gigantamaxing, Z-moves, Mega evolution and the process of how to make these things happen. Lucky for wesley it was almost all book work as no one in school had pokemon capable of such things yet. There were several feild trips to different regions so everyone could see these things in person and not just on screens or books. It was an easy year academically. Socially Westley struggled as usual. He did however have comfort at the end of the day when letters from home would arrive. His father and mother rarely wrote but Delsey and Wesley wrote each other everyday building a great friendship.
When summer vacation arrived Wesley was excited to return home and spend the summer with Delsey through out the school year they wrote about not just the happenings with the gyms but also delsey wanting to help wesley learn how to focus when it came to battling. When Wesley arrived home he went straight to his father's gym and delsey was eagerly waiting for his arrival. They trained every day. Delsey had a Geodude which made training very hard for Wesley and Elekid but with Delsey's help he learned how to get over his fear of battles and slowly he was able to think on his feet and use the knowledge he had learned from school on the battle feild. Even though Delsey and Wesley grew to enjoy battling they still had no interest in the gyms shenanigans. They would battle and train hard in the gym but when it came time to fight the other gym Wesley and Delsey would continue sneaking away. Walking and playing with their Pokémon building the bond between trainer and Pokémon.
His fourth year of schooling the focus was on gyms. He learned all about championship brackets, badges and different styles of battles that gym leaders would use. With all that Delsey had taught him during summer break he became much more confident at school. When bullies would begin picking on him, he quit running and challenged them to battle. He may not win every time but the battles helped him learn more and clarified everything that his professor had been teaching. By the end of the year wesley was getting straight A's not just in the book work side but also when exams came and he was put through the gym specialist's test. Delsey and Westley wrote each other everyday the fourth year until one day, about two weeks before Wesley would return home, Delsey's letters just stopped coming. Wesley continued to write her but nothing would come back.
When Wesley arrived home for summer vacation he hurried to his father's gym. when he got there, his father and Delsey's father were waiting for him. They sat Wesley down and informed him that Delsey has gone missing.
