"I apologize Ivar for this being your first glimpse at a pokemon gym here." Thorkell says as they enter the gym.
"Is this what it's like every day?" Wesley asks
Thorkell grins and nods. "Yes, every one desires fame. Now that the wars are over being a champion trainer is as good as being a famed warrior. Sometimes their desire blinds them and they need to be reminded they are not champions yet."
Once inside the gym wesley sees a shelf by the door lined with raid balls.
"Are those all Pokémon you have taken from trainers?" Wesley asks
Thorkell smiles "No, those are for trainers to try and raid our Pokémon." Thorkell points at the back wall of the gym "Those are the raid balls we've raided Pokémon with."
The wall is lined floor to ceiling with shelves filled with hundreds of raid balls.
Wesley's jaw drops and Thorkell begins to chuckle at Wesley's reaction.
"What do you do with all of them? Train them?"
Thorkell laughes. "If only I had the time. We keep and train the strongest to help us defend the gym and thin out the trainers. Most of them we heal and care for, for a short time than release them back into the wild. Some we need to send off to other parts of Valhalla to make sure they are released into their natural home. We've learned not to get too attatched to all of them. Very few are ever with us more than a week. Even Revna knows that one day Eevee will be released."
Wesley is surprised that at her young age Revna had learned not to get attached. If his father had told him that Elekid was only sticking around a short time than released to the wild, Wesley would be heart broken. It's great that Thorkell and Yrsa return the Pokémon to their homes its just amazing that they can do so without being to attatched.
"Mommy!" Revna yells running to the far side of the battle feild. Yrsa is sitting in one of the two large throne looking seats on the gym leaders side of the arena. She has a small beaten down puppy with white fur and brown collar. It has a leather wrapping around the base of its tail with a brown strip of fur along its back and big sad brown eyes.
"Thorkell?" Wesley says worried. "Is that the puppy pokemon you talked about last night? The one that evolves into.."
"It is Ivar." Thorkell says before Wesley could say it's name in front of Revna. "Those moronic trainers beat it trying to toughen it up, but don't worry we will help heal its wounds and make sure it is given proper treatment from now on."
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
"Oh he's so cute." Revna says "Can we keep this one daddy?"
"We will need to." Thorkell says. "He is hurt pretty bad and will take a while for him to be fully healed."
"Thorkell." The guard says "Are you ready for your next challengers?"
"Revna." Yrsa says "You sit here with Pupinlore while your father and I battle. Ivar take Thorkells seat."
Thorkell waves his arm instructing the guard to bring in the next team.
Wesley sits in the large chair reserved for Thorkell as two preteenage Boys enter the gym.
"Welcome." Thorkell says loud enough for the boys to hear from the other end of the arena. "Are your Pokémon prepared for battle?"
"Yes Thorkell!" One boy shouts.
"Do you accept the raid rules we abide by?" Yersa asks loudly
"We agree Yrsa!" Yells the other boy
"Then let us begin! Go War Horn!" Thorkell throws a pokeball and a extra large Hornskox comes out."
Thorkell looks back at Wesley with a grin. "The mighty Horskox's son."
"Let's do it again Crystal!" Yrsa says tossing her pokeball and a large beautiful blue comoto dragon looking Pokémon comes out of the pokeball. It has large crystals shaped like spears running down its back. There are beautiful crystals around its head like a protectant crown. It's long tail has a very sharp spear tip.
The trainers look at eachother with worry as they both toss out their pokemon. A Raticate and a perrserker.
Thorkell looks over at Yrsa "Care to do the honors?" He says
Yrsa smiles shaking her head. "If I must. Crystal, Aqua Spear!"
On her command the comoto dragon Pokémon delivers a narrow and sharp pointed water gun sending both raticate and perrserker flying backwards against the wall. Thorkell tosses one raid ball with a rope attatched to it, than a second. When the raid balls closed down there was no movement and thorkell pulled the ropes dragging the raid balls to him. just like that the battle was over.
"Ratty!" One boy cried with both hands on his head
"No! Zerks!" The other says falling to his knees.
Thorkell hands one of the raid balls to Yrsa and they walk to the middle of arena. Wesley sees Thorkell wave to the boys to join them in the battle feild. When the boys approach Wesley can't make out what is being said but after some words Thorkell and Yrsa give the boys their pokemon back. The boys are thrilled and the guard escorts them out of the gym.
When Thorkell and Yrsa return to there side of the battle feild the guard sounds the horn announcing the outcome. As they wait for the next trainers to enter Wesley asks "What did you tell them?"
"What they needed to know." Yrsa answers. "Many of the first time trainers that come here are just like them. Eager to battle, but lack the experience with Pokémon.
We were happy to see their tears though. Most trainers get angry with their loss, they'll throw fits of rage at us for winning or storm out saying vile things about the Pokémon they just lost. But to see those boys unconcerned with the outcome of the battle but instead sadness for the loss of their Pokémon partners, it showed us that they can be great trainers one day. We do not take Pokémon from good trainers with love in their hearts for them, so they were returned. I'm sure they will be back. I just hope they don't rush it. Hopfully they will bring Pokémon who are more capable next time we battle."
Wesley hears the doors of the gym open and across the gym wesley hears a familiar voice say "Thorkell. Yrsa. Good to see you again. Hope your ready because ive got a little suprise for you." Wesley looks up and his heart starts racing. Delsey has finally arrived.
