The two Pokémon that had been deployed were Koffing and Ekans, staples in Team Rocket's arsenal, typically issued to new members upon joining.
"What's going on?!" Trainers and staff in the Pokémon Center were taken aback, puzzled as to why two Pokémon had suddenly dropped into the lobby from above.
Without needing orders, Koffing sprung into action, familiar with such scenarios. It immediately released a Smokescreen attack, spreading thick smoke throughout the lobby, which quickly engulfed the area!
"Cough, cough..." The smoke caused everyone in the lobby to start coughing and obscured their vision. The sudden attack left many disoriented, only a few staff members grasped what was happening.
"Attack! Someone is attacking the Pokémon Center!" a staff member shouted loudly, using a walkie-talkie to notify others and to call for help.
Alarms blared throughout the Pokémon Center.
However, his actions only added to the chaos. Although not many trainers were in the lobby, about ten to twenty, some panicked upon hearing it was an attack, scrambling around looking for places to hide.
A few trainers quickly regrouped, intending to send out their Pokémon, only to realize that their Pokémon were still under care at the center's facilities, leaving them defenseless and unable to confront the immediate crisis.
Meanwhile, Arbok seized the opportunity. Unaffected by the smoke, it slithered with precision to the power room, broke down the door, and effortlessly destroyed the power supply with its powerful jaws.
The moment the power supply was destroyed, the entire Pokémon Center went dark, all machines and vital areas including the emergency and care rooms ceased operation.
"Ha ha ha ha…" The Rocket trio, floating above in their Meowth balloon, laughed heartily as they watched the chaos unfold below. They began to lower the balloon, and once at a suitable height, they leaped down to the ground, boldly entering through the main entrance, their faces now covered with masks to protect against the smoke.
"I remember where the Pokémon are stored—it's over there..." Meowth pointed toward the northern corridor. Given their intent to steal Pokémon, they had naturally researched the Pokémon Center beforehand.
"Let's go, Jessie, no time to waste!" Although the situation was favorable, James remained vigilant. He had a bad premonition and urged the young woman and Meowth to move quickly.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
"I know, I know! Don't rush me!" Jessie, the woman named, nodded impatiently as the duo and their Pokémon hastened toward the storage area.
...
"What's going on?!" In the dormitory, Ash woke up to the sound of the alarm, instantly alert and out of bed. He caught Pikachu, who jumped into his arms, and went to the balcony to see what was happening. But the next moment, the entire Pokémon Center went dark—the power was out!
"What happened?" Misty also woke up, still groggy and her face showing tension and worry.
"I don't know..." Ash paused, then it hit him. He finally remembered what he had forgotten to think about before bed—the attack by Team Rocket!
In the series, Team Rocket's trio—James, Jessie, and Meowth—launched an attack on the Pokémon Center, aiming to steal the Pokémon stored there.
Although Ash wasn't sure if they were acting under Giovanni's orders, he highly doubted it. Giovanni wouldn't be foolish enough to expose himself by letting Team Rocket operate so blatantly in Viridian City.
"So, what do we do now?" Misty was at a loss, so she looked to Ash for a plan.
"Let's go out and see!" Ash said decisively. He didn't know what the actual situation was like. If it were like the series, Team Rocket's trio would never succeed, but this was reality, not the series. He wasn't sure about the real capabilities of the trio!
"Okay!" Misty agreed without hesitation, trusting Ash's judgment. She grabbed two Poké Balls from beside her bed and followed Ash out of the dormitory toward the lobby.
Many trainers emerged from their dorms into the hallway, their expressions ranging from panicked to composed. Yet, all were converging toward the lobby, despite the dimly lit corridor causing some chaos.
"This could get dangerous," Ash stated, standing at the doorway and surveying the chaotic scene, his brow furrowed. With so many people rushing, a stampede was likely, which could lead to serious injuries.
"What should we do?" Misty looked to Ash, finding solace in his calm demeanor.
"Step back a bit..." Ash motioned for Misty to retreat into the room, then turned to Pikachu on his shoulder, "Pikachu, I need your help, use Thunder Shock to calm everyone down!"
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu hesitated, then nodded vigorously, jumping from Ash's shoulder and unleashing its electric power. Golden sparks lit up the dark environment, making it visible to most people.
But Pikachu didn't stop there; it launched the electric shock, turning the densely packed crowd into an effective conductor. In an instant, everyone in the corridor was hit by the shock!
"What are you doing?!" Misty, in a panic, grabbed Ash from behind, shocked that he would use Pikachu's Thunder Shock on so many people.
"It had to be done!" Ash was even more composed, "The shock isn't strong, it'll just make them tingle without causing any harm. But if they kept going like this, it might not have ended well."
Misty paused, then looked down the hallway to see the situation had indeed changed. Most people were lying on the floor, occasional sparks flickering over them, clearly paralyzed.
This action had calmed the chaos significantly, with most trainers quieting down, though a few who couldn't see what happened were still shouting.
"Ladies and gentlemen, sorry for the shock. Please, stay calm and once you've recovered, we can head to the lobby to see what's going on," Ash called out in the corridor, then, leading Misty, stepped over the crowd toward the lobby.
