"Pika pika!" Pikachu was also annoyed. It had just received its heritage and wanted to test its new strength, but this Pidgey looked down on it. How infuriating!

A spark of electricity flickered from Pikachu's electric sacs. In the next moment, a golden bolt of lightning shot out from Pikachu, targeting the Pidgey in mid-air!

After the attack was launched, Pikachu showed a hint of surprise. It felt that this attack was much stronger than when it fought Squirtle earlier, and the speed of the attack was much faster. This feeling was incredible!

Pidgey wasn't strong, but its senses were extremely sharp. It immediately noticed the change in the air, glanced back, and to its horror, saw an attack coming from behind. It quickly veered to the side, trying to dodge the attack.

However, the speed of the Thunder Shock was too fast. Although Pidgey reacted, it was still a step too slow and was hit by the attack!

"Pidgey!" Pidgey cried out in pain, bathed in golden lightning. It then fell from the sky, emitting smoke, and crashed to the ground, losing its ability to battle.

"Stronger?" Ash noticed the difference in Pikachu's Thunder Shock. Even with the type advantage, Pikachu shouldn't have been able to defeat Pidgey in one hit, given their similar levels. But now, Pidgey was no match for Pikachu!

He picked up Pidgey and placed it under the shade of a tree to rest. Ash didn't linger there but continued his journey to Viridian City. He needed to reach Viridian City before evening to avoid sleeping outdoors.

Not long after Ash and Pikachu left, a large group of dark shadows appeared in the nearby forest, numbering forty or fifty!

They had fierce appearances, with black backs and cream-colored chests and abdomens. Their heads bore messy crests of feathers, and their beaks were sharp like birds of prey, making them look formidable.

Some Pokémon on the ground, seeing this group appear, immediately panicked and hid, watching the group with fear and anxiety. It was clear they were very afraid of them.
