"Even though I've seen this many times at Professor Oak's lab, the feeling of seeing it alone outside is still quite different..." Along the way, Ash observed the surroundings, noticing some Pokémon in the bushes and grass nearby.
These Pokémon were not very strong. According to the system's attributes, Ash could clearly see that the Pokémon he discovered were all on par with Pikachu, around the initial level.
This is because strong Pokémon rarely appear near human habitation. The main reason, naturally, is the Pokémon League. They have established human living areas, greatly ensuring human survival.
"Should we try to capture a Pokémon?" Ash stopped, looking at a Pidgey perched on a branch, grooming its feathers with its beak, and asked Pikachu.
Pidgey, one of the iconic Pokémon of the Kanto region, is known as the house bird. Although very common, it is not a weak Pokémon.
Pidgey is a small bird with unremarkable feather colors. Its face, belly, and the tips of its wings are cream-colored, while the rest of its body is brown.
It has black markings around its eyes, which help it see its prey clearly under the scorching sun.
Its sharp beak and claws are a pale purple, with three toes on each claw, two facing forward and one backward.
It has three tufts of feathers on its head, with the side feathers being cream-colored and the middle one brown, giving its young appearance a slightly stern look.
Ordinary Pidgey are weak, and even if their strength increases, they do not have an advantage at the same level. However, they have two normal evolutionary forms: Pidgeotto and Pidgeot.
After evolving into Pidgeotto, it gains a certain amount of strength, with further speed improvements. The Pidgeot form is even more impressive, with strength surpassing many Pokémon at the same level, making it a very cost-effective Pokémon.
In its Pidgeot form, it is more of an eagle than a pidgeon!
"Pika pika..." Pikachu didn't help Ash make a decision. It was Ash's Pokémon, and Ash, as the trainer, should decide for himself whether or not to capture a Pokémon.
Ash thought for a moment and decided not to capture it for now. It's not just about whether he can capture it; Ash is confident that Pikachu's strength can easily defeat Pidgey, given the significant advantage in attributes.
The main concern is how to train and cultivate Pidgey after capturing it. Although he had learned a lot from Professor Oak, Ash, who had just set out, was still a bit confused. It wasn't the best time to capture a Pokémon.

"Even if we don't capture it, though..." Ash's lips curled into a slight smile, and a glint of determination appeared in his eyes. "A battle would be good for both Pikachu and me!"
"Pika!" Pikachu nodded in agreement with Ash's idea.
"So then..." Ash took a step forward, and Pikachu jumped off his shoulder onto the ground, looking up at the Pidgey, who had already noticed them from the branch. "Let's have a battle, Pidgey!"
"Pidgey!" The Pidgey glanced at Ash and Pikachu, let out a soft snort, and flew away without paying much attention. It couldn't be bothered with a human and his captured Pokémon.
Watching Pidgey fly away, Ash and Pikachu's faces stiffened. Their burning enthusiasm was instantly extinguished by Pidgey's indifference. They were actually looked down upon by Pidgey!
"I won't let you leave so easily! Pikachu, use Thunder Shock!" Ash decided to strike first before Pidgey flew out of Pikachu's attack range and commanded Pikachu to launch an attack.
"Pika pika!" Pikachu was also annoyed. It had just received its heritage and wanted to test its new strength, but this Pidgey looked down on it. How infuriating!
A spark of electricity flickered from Pikachu's electric sacs. In the next moment, a golden bolt of lightning shot out from Pikachu, targeting the Pidgey in mid-air!
After the attack was launched, Pikachu showed a hint of surprise. It felt that this attack was much stronger than when it fought Squirtle earlier, and the speed of the attack was much faster. This feeling was incredible!
Pidgey wasn't strong, but its senses were extremely sharp. It immediately noticed the change in the air, glanced back, and to its horror, saw an attack coming from behind. It quickly veered to the side, trying to dodge the attack.
However, the speed of the Thunder Shock was too fast. Although Pidgey reacted, it was still a step too slow and was hit by the attack!
"Pidgey!" Pidgey cried out in pain, bathed in golden lightning. It then fell from the sky, emitting smoke, and crashed to the ground, losing its ability to battle.
"Stronger?" Ash noticed the difference in Pikachu's Thunder Shock. Even with the type advantage, Pikachu shouldn't have been able to defeat Pidgey in one hit, given their similar levels. But now, Pidgey was no match for Pikachu!
"Pika!" Pikachu responded to Ash, confirming his suspicion. It had indeed become stronger.
"Is this the power of the inheritance from the Sky Dragon?" Ash pondered. Only an hour had passed since his battle with Gary, and Pikachu hadn't undergone any training. Yet its strength had changed. This must be the effect of Osiris the Sky Dragon's inheritance.
Ash approached Pidgey, squatted down, and checked its condition. Although it had lost the ability to battle, Pidgey wasn't seriously harmed. It would recover with some rest and wouldn't have any lasting effects. This reassured Ash a bit.
He picked up Pidgey and placed it under the shade of a tree to rest. Ash didn't linger there but continued his journey to Viridian City. He needed to reach Viridian City before evening to avoid sleeping outdoors.
Not long after Ash and Pikachu left, a large group of dark shadows appeared in the nearby forest, numbering forty or fifty!
They had fierce appearances, with black backs and cream-colored chests and abdomens. Their heads bore messy crests of feathers, and their beaks were sharp like birds of prey, making them look formidable.
Some Pokémon on the ground, seeing this group appear, immediately panicked and hid, watching the group with fear and anxiety. It was clear they were very afraid of them.
