Crap crap crap crap crap!
Mia struggled through the thick of it, monsters swarmed her on all sides. Although she supposed she was part of the swarm at the mo- gah not the time! Woah!
A massive claw crashed down onto where Mia was standing just a moment ago. A monster putting a mark into the ground as it leaped into the air directly into the line of humans. And then collapsed into the ground one at a time. One at a time because it was split in half midair.
Mia felt the air around her shift, and flinched back just in time to avoid a snapping pair of jaws. Acting entirely off a mix of instinct and reflex, she instantly retaliated and bit at her aggressors throat. With a pull, a pinata of red exploded. She... tried not to think too much about it...

Her mind felt slow, but in reality it was probably moving faster then it ever had before. She took in every presence nearby as soon as it got near her, instantly acknowledging and reacting to them. And though she didn't realize, preoccupied as she was, that definitely was not natural.
With... Not exactly elegant dodges, but serviceable ones nonetheless. She positioned herself around every monster with minimal effort. Dodging and weaving through attacks and bodies alike. Which had probably already saved her life numerous times.
Her small form certainly wouldn't be able to take any hits. But it did enable her to avoid those hits to begin with. And she abused it maliciously. But regardless of her keeping herself alive, the pull was still present. And she had no choice but to advance further in.
Monster after monster recklessly threw themselves into the blender. Where do these things even come from?! Some attacking Mia, some attacking other monsters, some apparently suicidal. As they'd run straight into the waiting line of blades that was the humans.
Swish-
Razor sharp claws sailed through the air and nicked Mia in the ear. Drawing a tiny bit of blood from her. Similarly to many such nicks that have accumulated over this unfortunate event. Mia was starting to feel a bit light headed... What was it called again...? Death by a thousand cuts?

Another one...
BOOM!
Mia leaped back just a little bit to late, a massive paw slapping down and crushing one of her digits. She yelped out in pain as the fog in her mind cleared from the sudden shock. But was now replaced with a whole other issue. The unremitting pain of shattered bones.
But there was nothing for it, she could sit and wallow and die, or work to live. Mia knew what she preferred. Despite not being human any more, she still very much wanted to live. But unfortunately for her...
The effective death point of humans was getting closer and closer by the second. And Mia began to mentally panic a bit more. Could I get them to take me in somehow? Do humans even train monsters in this world? How do I get them to NOT kill me?!
Mia figured she could keep herself away long enough to buy another three minutes to try and think of a solution. Though probably less given the movement she needed to stay alive to begin with... Damnit damnit damnit da-!

"THE FLUX IS RECEDING! EGO USERS COMING IN!"
A man yelled from on top of the wall. Mia barely registered it, but his voice was just loud enough to cry out over the din of battle. And apparently the rest of the humans heard as well, because they were all backing up.
Mia wasn't sure what changed, but the pull on her body seemed to recede just enough to stop moving forward. She couldn't quite work her body enough to get AWAY from the wall. But that guy said "receding". So she should be able to move soon, she hoped, anyways.
Just as Mia began to relax, thinking she was clear. A horrible chill ran down her spine. Her eyes were ripped from their purview, involuntarily staring ahead to witness whatever this air of menace was. Out from the gate came three humans, replacing the former line of armored soldiers. Despite the vast numerical distance, something about these people horrified Mia.
Similarly to her, most of the monsters surrounding Mia were transfixed on the humans that had just entered the battlefield. The only ones that weren't were obviously of a higher caliber then the rest. Those who still moved did so with an air of grace that the lesser creatures very clearly didn't have.
A moment of comparative quiet spread before the three said something. Mia wasn't sure what they said, they were much to far away from her. But as soon as they did...
Colored auras enveloped the combatants as they uttered whatever wizardry they had concocted. Cyan, green, and red, respectively. A mist like substance settling against the armor they wore. Seeming to form armor from thin air, it was transparent, and the shape was fickle. But it was distinctly armor of some kind.
They continued to walk unimpeded into the field. The monsters present still paralyzed by their presence. It was as if the force that compelled Mia to approach now wrapped these people. It was similar, yet different at the same time. But the biggest difference was this.
A single word wormed its way into Mia's mind, run. And she wasn't going to question it.
The three drew their weapons, a staff a sword and a spear. But personally, Mia had absolutely no desire to find out what they could do. Turning on her hind legs she whipped around with a fervor born from terror. And sprinted in the opposite direction for dear life.
She could hear other monsters follow in her example, and she also heard some who didn't. Particularly the wet sounds of flesh being parted from the bone. As those people did... SOMETHING. That she had no interest in, Mia ran as fast as her little legs would take her. Streaking into the forest in a blur of black.
