The overpass is gone, though unavailable is more appropriate word for it. The city is doing construction in the area, and they’ve cordoned off the area so I can’t go there today.

So I guess I’ll just sit at home and stare out the window down to the streets below. It’s weird, the only apartment I could find was the one at the top of this massive skyscraper and it was dirt cheap to boot! It’s like nobody likes to look out at the city anymore, their heads buried in the ground working all the time. They don’t have the time to enjoy the view I guess…

I find myself with the opposite problem. I’ve all the time I could ever want and nothing to do with it.

The apartment isn’t actually that bad. Not massive or anything but I didn’t need much more. A big blue couch in the middle, a small table to rest my feet on, a tiny kitchen, and a bed tucked away in the corner. I guess the beige lead paint is kind of a deal breaker for some, but I couldn’t care less.

I wonder when society changed so much that people would rather stick to the ground than amuse themselves in the skyscape and sights above. There’s something ethereal about looking out into the night sky, fluorescent as the day with all of the light pollution below and feeling like the king of a world.

A world wrought in luminescence, horns of cars and trains blaring into the atmosphere, people worming their way through life like a mole burrowing through the dirt. Each one to return to the place they call home after another day wasting away behind a desk or in the field. One short elevator ride or stair climb to reach the safety they know best.

Home is where the heart is, so long as it keeps beating.
