We don’t deserve pets. I saw a girl walking her dog from the overpass and it was the best thing I’ve seen all week. She stopped to look at a storefront and the dog just sat there waiting for her to finish window-shopping. And when she did, they would just keep walking and the dog just kept wagging its tail.

It must have been hard for people to start living with dogs. I guess they were still wolves at that point, but still. None of the blind love today’s dogs have, just teeth and raw emotion. Thousands of years, all spent to convince a little bag of fur and sweetness to live off of the wealth of humans.

Would it really be that bad? Losing all rational thought and mortal grievances for a life of excess and love? That’s a biased question, who wouldn’t want that is the better question. To give up on everything and just live with the constant friendship of your human.

I’ve already given up and all it got me was a cozy spot on an overpass and existential crises. Not crises really, just a new perspective on life. How do people act when they have nothing left to lose? Like an animal.

Not a dog though, they have more teeth.
