People say that you should respect your elders for countless reasons. Personally, I just don’t want to see a semi-transparent ghost try and scare me at two in the morning. Not that they would be able to since I rarely go to sleep that early.
But I do get it. Respect your elders because they have complete control over your life depending on your age, but also old people are great. Have you ever just gone by a senior home and just seen an old lady with a pair of binoculars looking out on the street below and waving at the people? I have.

Every so often I’ll see an old person being helped by a teenager across the street. They aren’t going to get scared at two in the morning. At least I think so. It must be humbling living for so long that you can see half the life of another. I don’t think I’ve known anybody for more than a few days, let alone half of their life. Knowing half of the hardships they go through. Knowing half of the joy they experience.
I wish somebody knew me that well.
