They started walking to the pier expecting that Sam would be there guiding the new arrivals .
What they found was a small group of people listening to instructions that Sam was giving them for what to do when new people arrived .
He was instructing them how to assign residences , transport of personal belongings carried with new arrivals and conditions for people to send over to the hospital.
He was taking charge of the situation and Helena was proud of him .
After Sam was done explaining everything to the group of people he walked towards Alex and Helena , noticing them earlier .
“I didn’t expect to see you guy’s so soon” said Sam .
“We’ll be doing them in batches from now on , otherwise we’ll be confined to the hospital for the foreseeable future” responded Alex .
It seems you had everything under control .
“It was a nightmare figuring out the distribution of residences in the beginning” admitted Sam .
“Well you figured it out and if mistakes were made we can set them straight after most have arrived” said a proud Helena .
“There are rumours spreading among the arrivals , the people coming out of the hospital are telling the people everything they’ve gone through at the hospital” said Sam .
Most people have a hard time believing them until they show them their driving licenses or other identification cards .
When they started talking about how they got cured , became younger , and were bestowed with knowledge a group of people expressed readiness to go to the hospital for treatment .
I talked them out of it by saying that everyone was going to get the treatment eventually but that the priority lay with the disabled and sick for the foreseeable future .
“Well we still need engineers to maintain the island’s technological infrastructure so if you find people who will be willing to learn the trait you may send them to the hospital for registration and we can do them in the next few batches” said Alex .
“I also told them to be quiet about it since the labour force is still here , luckily they are busy at the other side of the island but they may have noticed the excitement” said Sam.
“That can be attributed to arriving to the island , don’t worry about it for the moment but keep them quiet about it and watch if the labour force begins to act strangely” responded Alex .
Let’s head back to my house so we can talk more privately , I have a few questions I want to ask Da’grass and maybe we should call your mother to see how long she will still be busy .
“I’ll give them instructions to spread the word that as long as the work force is here they have to be quiet and that they notify the new arrivals of this” said Sam .

Once back at their home Alex asked Da’grass to ask the labour force how long they thought they were still going to be busy .
The answer was that they needed still a little over a week for the finishing touches and furnishing the last residences .
Most of the labour force was already disbanded and only those still needed remained on the island .
Happy to hear the news Sam , Helena and Alex had a celebratory drink while Helena called her mother for an update .
Sarah told her that she would be done within a week and that the reorganization to the Nexus went without too much trouble .
She was just fine tuning communications between the Nexus and reality and had already bought the technology to make it happen smoothly , it just still needed to be manufactured but that was for her employees to handle .
Her employees would be paid for every hour they worked be it in reality or the Nexus and they had a choice how much of it would be in credits .
She asked El’Anor and Cathy for help with this and they were happy to help , it would have been simpler if they got paid out full in credits though .
She would be bringing a few bracelets with her but most of them would be shipped over , she was prioritizing the island and her employees before sales would start .
She probably would arrive before the work force departed the island , she said.
They celebrated well into the night while exchanging stories about the last few weeks and what they had been doing while playing some vr games .
Sam apparently loved the thrill of speed in the racing game and the fact he could collect the cars , he insisted that every kind of car could be found in the game and that you could go from simple street racing to formula 1 and rally .
It was the dream of every car fanatic he said .
Alex had his doubts about that but was happy that Sam had fun playing the game .
With the reduced need of sleep they were still awake when in the morning Jack , the formerly elder couple’s husband was knocking on the door .
“No rest for the wicked” Helena jokingly said .
Jack told them that there was a full batch waiting for treatment , the news had spread and there were already 2 people who wanted to become an engineer which made it a full batch .
So for the next 3 days Helena and Alex were back in the hospital while Sam was organizing the people already arrived .
People needed to man the various shops and the already hired employees of the company also started to arrive .
These were the people that Da’grass had scouted and sent to company managed by Sarah.
It was all slowly coming together , they were still losing money with housing and feeding them but that wouldn’t last .
Once they had their treatments they would fully contribute to their little society , even if they didn’t work for them directly .
After another 4 days which they spent in the nexus relaxing and talking to John Carther , who had very little time , Sarah finally arrived and brought with her gifts .
Da’grass first needed to connect with the bracelets for a short period of time before they could be used as Alex intended after which he started distributing them .
Sarah , Helena and Sam got one as did the not so elderly couple and the two engineers.
He kept the other three she brought in reserve in case of something unexpected .
Sam and Helena immediately started to test out it’s functions and were satisfied with their new toy .
It would replace their smartphones , scanners and would serve as a payment method for credits while transferring information from the Nexus to reality .
They immediately synced their contact info with their account in the Nexus.
But now it was time to go back to the hospital , Jack had informed them that there was a new batch of people waiting for the treatment .
“Cheer up Alex , I’ll be keeping you company” said Helena .
And once we are in the colony you won’t have to treat them individually anymore .
“It’s not that I’m eagerly awaiting the day that we are at the colony but it would sure simplify the procedure” said Alex .
Yeah , you could do so en masse that way but it’s not like you’re digging in their flesh , bones and blood yourself said Sam .
“Well off to the hospital , see you in 3 days Sarah , Sam” said Alex and left together with Helena .
