Hindriad said with a smirk as Hanks stepped back.
Yes Hanks had managed to eliminate the killer ants making movements on the surface of the ground , but there were still more beneath it which were to show up , which had undoubtedly digged their way over. That was Hindriad's hypothesis.
His guess turned out to be right on the money - the little creatures dug through the ground , unaware that by doing so were exposing themselves to the hunter known as Hindriad , who would bring forth their death.
" Earth Impale. "
All it took was a single step forward or rather a stomp to activate the magic , soon it was cast in 2 minutes.
Spikes stuck out from the ground in a flash , impaling some of the killer ants which were already on the surface.
That was all it took to eliminate a large number of them.
" Krohn , I leave things to you. I trust that you'll clean the battle field of these creatures. "
Hindriad said in an arrogant tone , but unfortunately Hindriad was stronger than Krohn so there was nothing the augmentor could do let alone say to change that.
The man walked away from where the main battle was taking place , leaning next to the short blonde he was supposedly protecting.
Krohn prepared his resolve and distributed mana throughout his body and fusing it with his muscles to boost his speed and strength.
It took just one leap and punch for him to reach the leftover ants , and simultaneously beat a small group which were collected together , beating them to a pulp.
The shockwave had dispersed when the punch landed on the first ant , therefore affecting the others. But even so , the killer ants were being exterminated slower than expected , than wanted.
Krohn's eyes turned to saucers when he saw more killer ants somehow making their way out of the ground, replacing the ones he had just eliminated.
He had thought they had been dealt with by Hindriad's first attack and the one left on the surface were the last remainders , how he was wrong.
Krohn clucked his tongue, dealing with the killer ants now wouldn't be a problem but now they were greater in numbers compared to a lone man like him , meaning it would consume more mana to deal with them. Krohn tossed an eye towards Hindriad expecting reinforcement, but his eyes were pushing him forward, telling him 'not to hold back' , that he could deal with everything by his own power.

Against the B+ ranked hunter's presence , Krohn's pride had a sudden awakening. Although he hated it , he would have to use the last resort - use Berseker.
Krohn made a shallow breath , preparing himself of what was to come.
Berseker was activated on the spot and his muscles bulged more than three times of their size , his whole body looked bulky like inflated balloons were inside him. This was Berseker's effect -
It was an augmentor technique which worked by taking in excess mana in the atmosphere and directly placing and fusing it with a user's muscles to temporarily boost their strength in great lengths.
With every step he took , The earth sunk , leaving his foot prints deep on the surface of the dungeon.
Krohn attacked.
The man was a mad man on this field , ripping killer ants in half which had exoskeletons stronger than metal as if they were soft bread. Even the ants he let attack him while he was busy dealing with others didn't put a wound on his body , let alone a scar.
It felt like they were brushing him, giving him a massage on his tender muscles. It was sickening to think about , being given a massage by things that ugly.
However , the mana which was absorbed directly from the atmosphere hadn't been purified by the mana core and instead forcefully transported through the mana passages , which meant...
Krohn coughed blood as it fell on the dungeon floor like a marking , his mana passages must have been ripped apart by now and the mana distribution must have been falling apart.
Berseker was called a last resort because of the dangers that came with it , and which was damage of mana passages.
Krohn couldn't really blame Hindriad for not backing him out. After all , he had been sent here not to protect them as if they were incapable hunters , he had things way more important in mind.
Krohn huffed a final breath before falling down. He had managed to eliminate the remainder of the ants and finished his part. He could feel it , that he wouldn't survive the relapse of using Berseker this time around.
He turned his eyes to check the situation. Misha and Hindriad had long got rid of the wasps , the last of it had been with him - Eliminating the remainder of those despicable monsters.
Krohn had been a hunter for 7 years , In those years he had been blessed by seeing the townsfolk's smiles.
Being a hunter wasn't just only defeating monsters in the dungeon and collecting the monster parts for the greedy people , it was also protecting the people from what lay within those dungeon.
A dungeon that stood in place un-raided was advantageous to the monsters inhabiting inside ; they gained evolution over time due to natural selection.
Weaker monsters would be limited inside it , allowing the stronger ones to thrive more , Which was why it was necessary for them to be raided therefore protecting the people living near one.
Krohn knew he wouldn't get much admiration and credit from the people who were being protected from the monsters , but that wasn't what made his become a hunter.
He would do it all over again - become a hunter if it meant protecting the smiles of the people who weren't powerful enough to protect themselves.
