In The Abyss 10

𝑨𝒄𝒌.....𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕....𝒘𝒉-.....𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 ..𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒎 𝑰?.....𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒂𝒎 𝑰 ?....𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒅...

Hindriad thought to himself as he desperately tried to analyse his surroundings but was met with failure - he couldn't hear anything , couldn't smell anything or neither could see anything.

Most of his senses were shut off.

He digged deeper into his brain to try and remember what happened ; the first thing he remembered was that he was in a dungeon to protect a particular boy for an exchange of several stellar coins, which was suspicious by itself - considering it was just one measly weak boy who wasn't worth much as Hindriad judged him.

More of his memories came back ,he remembered - after that he had been in a hot trail to the dungeon boss in hopes of wrapping things up by quickly defeating the dungeon boss to get his promised money quickly ,and had tried to ambush it.

Yes , everything was clear to him.

He was the one who had been ambushed instead , how painfully ironic it sounded.

After that he had passed out ,probably from too much shock during the impact.

A large insect type monster had crashed upon him , it's large body painfully pressed against his. He thoroughly remembered that his lower body starting from the stomach had been crushed completely from the impact.

He could almost feel the excruciating pain again he left at the split moment.

𝑺-𝒔𝒐 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒂𝒎 𝑰 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆.......

The damage was too big for Hindriad to normally survive it , his legs and stomach had been reduced to ground meat and he remembered that the large insect had also forcefully pulled his arms with it's horrifyingly sharp legs before eating them.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

The insect looked really strong for Hindriad to take on ,and if he hadn't looked up he would have been crushed right there without knowing what hit him.

After he had seen it , there was that feeling in his gut telling him to run right before the monster landed on him ,but a prideful man like Hindriad wouldn't dare. Even if he wanted to run , by the time he had discovered the creature ,it was already too late to run let alone avoiding the surprise attack.

The insect monster had 4 extremely sharp mandibles with 12 several legs and quite the large body, it could be compared to a T-Rex ,it was a miracle how it managed to fit into the dungeon.

Sure the dungeon entrance passage were wide , but not wide enough to accomodate the entrance of something that large. It was only after walking through many passages that the dungeon stretched out slowly.

It stained Hindriad's pride to how quickly he had lost to the monster without resistance whatsoever , and by the looks of things no one had come to rescue him so far.

At first he questioned whether he was in the afterlife, but that all soon sounded like rubbish to a non believer like Hindriad. The concept of heaven and hell was nothing but a conspiracy to fool the public to him.

Expecting for help at that point would be just wishful thinking, the monster had defeated the strongest member of the party of 8 hunters - him , in literally one fell swoop. There was absolutely no way the others would even have a chance against it.

After losing all hopes of incoming rescuers , Hindriad began to feel something moving inside him , like all his cells - tissues in his body were being rebuilt and reorganised to a different structure ,matching those of a foreign creature.

His eyes stretched wide as an insatiable itch came over them ,as if millions of tiny mites were moving across them, but there was little Hindriad could do to prevent that, even closing them didn't work. Instead the itch came back stronger and stronger , driving him to the brink of insanity.

Something larger than himself consumed him whole , consuming his desires , his will , his goals and his fear right at the moment.

Hindriad could feel his body parts which were crushed re-emerging once again taking the shape of something disastrous , he could only feel all of it happening with no control over it once again as his already weak consciousness partially began to fade away, fading into the pitch black darkness that had enveloped his sight.

In less than 10 minutes, a monster had risen and took his place.
