Chapter 6 Perfection

Chapter 6 Perfection

Kairos, who was in bed, feeling the excruciating pain, gritted his teeth, as he hummed from it.

Luckily, he was prepared this time. As he grunted in pain, he knew that if he shouted this time and worried his family, he would be in a lot of trouble, and her mother wouldn't let him go to school today.

As the pain slowly subsided, although it wasn't gone, his face was red like a tomato, and his eyes were bloodshot. He was covered in sweat, but there was a smile on his face. He then sat up on his bed and checked his loot, and yes, it was still there.

So, he took out the two red orbs and absorbed them. After holding the first red orb which is from the 6th stage rabbit, he felt a refreshing feeling, his cultivation increased, but it wasn't enough for a breakthrough.

He then absorbed the last orb, which was from a 5th stage rabbit, and the effect was about 70% of the 6th stage orb. As he opened his eyes, he sighed, and the anger in his eyes was livid.

"Who the heck threw that wind blade at me? Just you wait, I'll pay this back tenfold if I ever catched you," Kairos said with great anger.

He could hunt continuously, but he died without knowing who attacked him, making him so irritated. So, he went down to clear his mind exiting and arriving outside his house.

He sat in their lawn while closing his eyes.

He then tried to familiarize himself with the [Swiftless Blade] technique. There were many things he couldn't yet comprehend, so he held the blue orb, and when he absorbed it, the feeling of complexity that was weighing on him became a bit easier. His eyes glowed, and he had a sudden enlightenment.

As he closed his eyes and after half an hour, he opened them. His brows were sharp as he pursed his lips.

"Finally, I comprehended the technique," he said excitedly as he picked up the wooden sword in the living room, coming back to the lawn, holding the wooden sword.

With a swift and fluid motion, he swung the wooden sword, slicing through the air with precision. As the blade cut through, a small wind blade materialized, whistling through the air.

The sheer force of his swing created a visible arc of compressed air, demonstrating his newfound power.

Kairos' sword floated briefly in the air before striking a nearby tree in their property, leaving a noticeable cut on its bark.

He smiled for he was satisfied with the result. He had only used a fraction of his strength to avoid drawing too much attention, since it was night and also its his house destroying their property is not good.

If he had used his full power, not just the tree, probably even a metal wall, would have been easily sliced through.

Feeling pleased, Kairos headed back inside, putting the sword away before resting in his room. An hour later, the sun was up, and he woke up brimming with energy.

"It's time," he said excitedly, jumping into the shower.

After getting dressed in his school uniform, he went downstairs where his mother, Jovelle, and his sister, Sophia, were already waiting.

Sophia, noticing his unusually bright smile, raised an eyebrow, "Brother, did you have a nice dream? You're grinning like an idiot so early in the morning," she remarked with a blank expression.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

The mention of "nice dream" sent a shiver down to Kairos' spine, as the memories of being killed twice in his dream made him feel uneasy.

"You're the idiot," he retorted, sitting down at the table with a slight frown.

As they finished eating, Jovelle glanced at Kairos, sensing something different about him. She scrutinized him for a moment but, found nothing out of the ordinary, so she just continued her meal.

Once they were done, Kairos and Sophia offered to wash the dishes, but their mother stopped them, reminding them they might be late for school.

Agreeing, the siblings grabbed their bags and left the house. Walking along the bustling streets, the tall buildings and steady stream of cars created the familiar urban landscape they had grown used to.

"So, brother, do you still plan on joining the tournament today?" Sophia asked with a hint of concern in her voice.

Kairos grinned mischievously, "Hehehe, guess."

Sophia's eyes narrowed, and with a swift movement, she kicked at him in playful frustration. She was tired and irritated, in his brother acting like mysterio.

But Kairos easily sidestepped her attack, causing her annoyance to spike. She then smiled, as an idea forming in her mind.

Without warning, she grabbed his hand, intertwining their fingers, and leaned in close, her eyes glinting with mischief. "Brother," she purred, pressing her chest against his elbow, "are you hiding something from me? You've been acting so mysterious lately. You wouldn't keep secrets from me, would you?"

Kairos was unfazed by this, he simply raised his finger and flicked her forehead. Sophia immediately let go, rubbing her head as she winced from the surprisingly hard hit.

"Ow! What was that for?" she protested.

"For no reason" Kairos replied as he continued his walk.

Sophia just gritted her teeth, while tailing Kairos behind by five steps. Seeing this, Kairos could only sigh and let her do so. When he looked back and saw her glance, Sophia puffed her cheeks and looked sideways.

When they finally arrived at their school, she just passed by him and went to her own classroom. Kairos didn't her childish acts, as he just mused a smile, waiting to surprised her by the increase in his strength.

As Kairos took the other path, he entered the school building after walking through the hallway. He took the stairs and after walking and arriving on the third floor, he walked through the hallway and stopped at the door.

The sign on the door read, "12th grade St-John." Kairos's school is called San Juan Inc., a high school private school. His father is an office worker with a good amount of salary, so they can attend this school without any problem if it comes to money.

Entering the room, he was greeted by the sight of his classmates. He then walked to the back, near the window, located in the back row seat, and sat in his chair. Beside him was a fat student.

Seeing him, the fat guy, who we are going to call Arthur, had some shining stars in his eyes.

"Brother, finally! you decided to go to school! Do you know what day it is?" Arthur said excitedly.

"Of course, I know. So, do you plan to partake in the tournament?" Kairos asked, looking at his fat classmate.

"I don't know. I think I have no chance. You do know that my talent in cultivating isn't that good. But still, if I passed the assessment and was finally given the qualification to partake, I would definitely join," Arthur said with a sigh in his last word.

Kairos nodded his head. If his golden finger hadn't awakened, Arthur would have been a higher level that him. Since, he's much more talented than him when it comes to cultivating.

He can also sense that Arthur was already in the 6th stage of body refinement.

"But sadly, the minimum requirement to partake in this event is to be at the 7th stage of body refinement," Arthur said with a saddened expression.

Suddenly, the door made a sound of being opened, and when they looked in that direction, Arthur and Kairos saw a girl around 17 years old. She had black hair that reached over her waist, and she carried a cold and aloof aura as she walked to her seat.

Kairos knew this female classmate of his. Her name is Ishnehaya Salic. She's one of the prodigies of this school, and rumors said that she was around the 9th stage in body refinement.

She was a star in their school, not only because of her talent but also her beauty, which was above standard.

"That's also the reason why I don't want to participate. Since those who want to join are talented classmates as well, I think that I would be the weakest one if I wanted to join. So, I'll just wait until graduation, since it's the same anyways," Arthur said in a whisper.

Kairos didn't say anything, as he observed Ishnehaya. He then looked at his palm and wondered what his true strength was. The Aether that those orbs held was so pure.

So, he felt that his strength must be above that of a 7th stage. Suddenly, the door was opened again, and this time it was his teacher who came in.

She stood on the small platform, looking at her students with a smile.
