As night descended, he cleaned up the shop and finally closed for the day. As he walked through the streets, taking in the cool evening air, he found himself outside their house in just a few minutes.
Opening the door, the delicious aroma of his mother’s cooking filled his senses. He saw her busy in the kitchen, preparing their midnight meal.
"Mom, I'm home," he called out as he walked to the kitchen.
"Okay, sweetie, go sit at the table now. Lunch will be ready in a minute," Jovelle replied, humming a tune.
"Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you," she hummed softly, making it a bit hard to hear what he was singing.
He sat down at the table, waiting for his mother’s cooking, when he realized his sister Sophia wasn’t there.
Curious, he asked, "Mom, where is Sophia?" His voice filled with inquiry.
"She’s in her room cultivating. Don’t disturb her tonight, since she’s about to break through to the 6th level," their mother said with a happy smile.
Kairos was pleased to hear this of course, "Sister is really talented," he thought to himself, feeling proud.
While he didn’t have much talent in cultivation, his sister Sophia was an exception. At just 15 years old, she was already on the verge of reaching the 5th level of Body Refinement and had emerged as the top student in her class.
"Okay, Mom," Kairos nodded, waiting patiently.
Once their mother finished preparing the meal, they sat down to enjoy it together. After finishing dinner, Kairos headed to his room and took a refreshing shower.
Since it was quite warm, he decided to forgo his usual shorts and shirt, opting to wear just his boxers instead. As he settled into bed, his thoughts drifted to his past life, where he had gone by the name Jakol.
Kairos vividly remembered the day his life took a bizarre turn. He had been walking on the right side of the road when a truck suddenly malfunctioned and swerved in his direction.
Just as he braced for the worst, the driver managed to regain control, steering away at the last second and saving him from a deadly collision.
The truck screeched to a halt, and a middle-aged man in a ragged uniform stumbled out, clearly shaken.
"Kid, I’m so sorry! Are you alright? The brakes malfunctioned, and I couldn’t control the truck for a moment," the driver said, offering an apologetic smile despite his own fear.
Kairos was about to wave it off, trying to reassure the driver that everything was fine. But before he could respond, the sky above them tore open as a plane plummeted from the heavens, heading directly for their location. His heart raced, and in that moment of sheer terror, he almost lost control, he took a step back and step into a dog poop.
He did not notice this as the plane crashed right where they stood, creating a massive impact zone.
He didn’t remember much after that, only that he woke up in a hospital, dazed but alive. However, fate wasn’t done with him yet.
As he opened his eyes, a nurse accidentally knocked over a bottle of water onto the heart rate monitor. The machine sparked, and within seconds, Kairos found himself being electrocuted right after regaining consciousness.
Kairos passed out from the shock, and after a few days, he miraculously regained consciousness. However, the situation wasn’t ideal, his skin looked like charred toast, he was missing a leg and an arm, and his face looked like it had been through a barbecue. Despite everything, he tried to stay positive.
“Well... at least I’m still alive. Living like this, is not so bad, right?” he thought to himself, desperately trying to find the silver lining.
He couldn’t speak, but his eyes were open, and that was enough for now. Just when he was about to embrace his newfound resilience, a doctor walked in wearing a mask and holding an ominous-looking syringe.
"Don’t worry, kid. I’m here to help," the doctor said in a disturbingly righteous tone.
"I’m gonna end your suffering. So you can rest now. For this doctor will take care of everything."
"Wait, what?" he said inwardly, looking at him dumbfoundedly.
"I’m just going to euthanize you, don't worry it won’t hurt a bit," the doctor added, noticing Kairos’s terrified, trembling eyes.
“Euthanize?! What the actual fuck?!” Kairos tried to scream, but all that came out was a pitiful hum because his jaw was still wired shut.
His eyes and though, were the one who's doing the talking, flashing in pure panic.
The doctor, mistaking Kairos's terror for gratitude, felt a brief moment of pity, “Poor kid,” he muttered, and injected the needle into Kairos’s arm.
Just as Kairos was mentally cursing the doctor into oblivion, there was a sudden commotion outside the room. Footsteps pounded down the hallway, and a nurse burst through the door like a superhero arriving too late.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"DOCTOR! WRONG PATIENT! The one you’re supposed to euthanize is in the room next door!" she screamed, panting from her sprint.
The doctor froze, his face going pale as the now-empty syringe fell from his hand in slow motion, like a scene out of a bad soap opera.
“What do you mean... wrong patient?” The doctor’s voice quivered in horror.
Kairos, lying there, wide-eyed, couldn’t even scream, “YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!” Instead, a single tear rolled down his charcoal face, a symbol of his sudden bad luck.
The doctor and the nurse both stared at Kairos's tear-streaked face, their hearts sinking in regret.
"I'm so sorry, kid. I really didn’t know. You’ve got about... five minutes left," the doctor said, his voice is heavy filled with guilt.
“My medical license is definitely gone after this.” the doctor said inwardly.
Kairos simply closed his eyes, accepting the absurdity of his life. "Just let it be quick," he thought, resigned to his fate.
But the universe wasn’t done with him yet. Just as Kairos was embracing the sweet release of death, another loud crash echoed outside. A second plane, why? because, why not? came hurtling toward the hospital. With a fiery explosion, it crashed into the building, smashing directly into his room.
Instead of the quick and painless death he’d been hoping for, Kairos found himself obliterated into smithereens, his body burned to ash once again. Somewhere in the chaos, Kairos's final thought was probably something like, “What are the odds?”
Because of that, he had transmigrated to this new world, and it had been eight years since then. After a few minutes of reflection, he finally drifted off to sleep.
Little did he know, this would mark the beginning of an incredible journey. He was destined to become a great cultivator, one who would rise to power and become the ruler of the cosmos.
As he fell asleep, he found himself transported into his mind, an endless void filled with nothingness. He walked for what felt like hours, unable to find a way out.
"Where the hell am I?" he shouted into the void, feeling frustrated and hoping for a response.
Suddenly, his eyes caught sight of a strange green portal a few meters away from where he was standing.
"What is a portal doing in my dream?" Kairos said, with a questioning gaze.
His curiosity got the best of him, and slowly made his way towards it. With his trembling fingers, he reached out and inserted one of them into the portal.
Suddenly, he felt a strange sensation wash over his body, as if he was being pulled into the portal by the strong gravitational force.
The void around him began to fade away, and he found himself hurtling through a tunnel of swirling colors and lights.
It was a dizzying experience, and he had no idea where he was headed or what was going to happen to him once he escaped. All he could do was hold on and hope for the best.
As he hurtled through the tunnel of swirling colors and lights, Suddenly, he was spit out of the portal and fell onto the ground, unprepared for the abrupt end to his journey.
He quickly got up, feeling disoriented, and tried to adjust his self. But as he looked up, the green portal that had brought him here disappeared, leaving him stranded in an unknown place.
"Where in the world I am right now" Kairos said, feeling bewildered.
"Don't tell me I had a stroke in my dream and died?" he thought, as fear and goosebumps running through him.
Looking around, he realized he was in a forest. The trees towered above, their leaves rustling in the gentle breeze.
"This is strange. How come there's a forest? Am I in heaven, in the Garden of Eden?" Kairos muttered, slowly accepting his fate.
As the green portal vanished, panic set in again. He searched for a way out or any clue to lead him back, but all efforts seemed futile. Hours passed, and he felt like he was going in circles. Deciding to walk straight in one direction, he hoped to find a way out of the forest.
His heart was racing and pounding crazily as he walked through the dense foliage, trying to stay calm despite the fear that was gnawing at him.
After what felt like an eternity, finally he saw a break in the trees up ahead. His heart leapt with joy as he quickened his pace, eager to see where it led.
As he emerged from the forest, he was met with a breathtaking sight. Before him lay a vast open plain grass, stretching as far as the eye could see.
"Finally, I'm out" he said in relief.
As the sense of relief wash over him after realizing he was finally out of the forest. But at the same time, he knew that his journey was far from over.
He had no idea where he was, or what dangers lay ahead. With a deep breath, he steeled his courage for whatever lay ahead and took his first steps.
To his left, there was a patch of tall grass that towered over him, despite his 6'1" height, which is tall from ordinary.
"Wow! this bush is so high it's even taller than me" Karios exclaimed in amazement.
Feeling curious, he ventured inside after an hour of endless wandering, only to spot a rabbit nibbling on a small carrot.
But what made him rethinkked is that what he found was no ordinary rabbit, it had sharp fangs that glinted in the sunlight, sharper than any knife he had ever seen. Its size was twice as big as any normal rabbit, and its piercing blood-red eyes seemed to bore into his very own soul.
Lost in his thoughts, he unexpectedly stepped on a branch, causing the rabbit to wiggle its adorable ears and slowly turn its gaze towards his direction.
"Oh shit" Kairos cursed when he was found.
It stared at him with its menacing blood-red eyes, causing him to break into a cold sweat. Slowly, he began to back away, but as soon as he made a moved, the rabbit suddenly hopped forward and lifted its powerful hind legs to strike him.
He quickly tilted his head to the side, barely dodging the attack. As the rabbit's kick landed on the ground, it created a small pit due to the impact. Seeing this, he couldn't help but panic a little.
"How is that rabbit so strong, where in the world am I" Kairos said in a fright, from the rabbit strength.
As the rabbit continued to attack, he quickly scanned his surroundings for any objects that could be used as a weapon.
His eyes landed on a nearby tree branch that had fallen on the ground. So, he quickly grabbed the branch and held it tightly, ready to defend his self from the attacked.
The rabbit then charged towards him once again, its sharp fangs was exposed. Kairos stepped back and swung the branch, hoping to hit it, but he missed from the rabbits speed.
The rabbit hopped around circling him, making it difficult for him to land his attacks. He was starting to lose his patience when suddenly, he stumbled on a rock and fell backward.
As he fell, the rabbit jumped in the air to attack, but its hind leg got caught in a nearby bush. It twisted its body to try and get free, but the bush was too tangled for it to escape.
Seeing this, he knows that this is his chance. He quickly got up and swung the branch with all his might, hitting the rabbit on its head.
"Haalah! die you damned rabbit" Kairos shouted, cursing the rabbit every time he landed a hit.
(author "it's my first time saying curse words" :) )
The rabbit let out a high-pitched squeal and fell to the ground. He looked at it for a few moments, trying to catch his breath.
As he looked closer and saw that the rabbit was not moving. It was then that he realized that he had hit the rabbit weak part, and it died from the impact.
As the rabbit died, it dissolved into particles, and three orbs dropped from its body. Two of them were the size of a palm, while the other was a blue orb of the same size.
The orbs emitted a strange energy that made the air around it vibrates. He felt that there's some kind of strange power inside this orb. He didn't know what it was but when he touched the red orb.
