As soon as Yvlena heard the attack she spun around and came face to face with clicking mandibles of the giant spider.
She screamed, falling backwards and burning herself on some of the tarry sap that had dripped to the floor.
"Ow," she whined.

The rabbit launched itself forward, sprinting on fast little legs towards the giant arachnid that threatened his summoner.
He weaved around the large creature, avoiding the Spider's legs as it struck the ground with the intention to hit him.
The spider's mandibles clicked as it moved, releasing a strange crooning sound as it shot its web at them.

Yvlena sliced through the stringy strands before it had a chance to touch her or her summons.

She launched a destructive beam at the Forest Spider who lifted its legs in a defensive stance.

The Spider struck the ground hard causing the forest floor to shake. Miasmic Sap fell from the trees, narrowly avoiding the party as it splashed.
Yvlena stumbled, almost losing her footing as the floor continued to shake underneath her, she stuck the tip of her blade into the ground, weathering the storm until the rumbles came to an end.
She ran forward, taking a shot at the Spider's prone legs.
"Take this!" She yelled, slashing a deep gash in the creature's appendage. The Spider crooned, clicking its mandibles and snapping its beak.
[Forest Spider Cast Bite]
Faster than Yvlena could avoid it, the arachnid's beak nipped her forearm painfully.
Yvlena drew back, clutching the arm which now bore an imprint of the creature's beak.
She raised her sword and struck the Spider's face, the creature squealed in pain, retreating from her instantly.
A wave of weakness washed over Yvlena, she stumbled and soon her skin took on a greenish hue.

"Damn it!" She cursed feeling another wave of illness rock her, her knees quaked as slowly she sank down, unable to hold herself up.
"I've got to brew an antidote or else..." she said. She didn't finish her sentence instead, laying her cauldron on the ground and looking for the antidote recipe she had purchased from Risel.

Yvlena swayed as she stood over the bubbling cauldron. Sprite and Rabbit Knight handled the Forest Spider, careful not to get bitten themselves.
They drove the Spider back as Yvlena worked to cure herself of the poison. One by one she added the ingredients, careful not to fall in as she swayed from weakness.
"This feels like the worst food poisoning ever," she said, holding back the virtual bile rising in her throat.

"Finally!" She said popping the cork and downing the potion in one go. She grimaced at the taste and the sensation of sludge sliding down her throat.
Now she was cured, the only problem, that was her last bottle.

The orange wave swiftly sliced off the creature's front legs allowing Rabbit Knight to jab his rapier into one of the Spider's many eyes.
He leaped up and down, targeting the Spider's beak and eyes with Sprite casting stings by his side.
Yvlena ran forward, kicking her feet into the air and jumping to land on the Forest Spider's head.
"I don't even know what I'm doing!" She said, lifting her sword and bringing it down hard on the Spider's neck.
The beast shrieked, trying to buck the girl off its head. Yvlena shook but held on tight.
"Sprite cast bind!" She ordered.

Thorny vines grew to wrap around the Forest Spider's remaining legs holding it in place as Yvlena began stabbing the creature's head and eyes.
Rabbit Knight joined in, severing the joints that held the Spider's body to its legs.

With a majestic swing of his blade the Forest Spider fell forward unable to lift its torso from the damage it had sustained.
With a final blow from the Carrot Sword, Yvlena ended its existence.

"That wasn't as bad as I pictured," Yvlena admitted with a tired sigh.

"Wow good job Sprite, now you've grown even stronger," Yvlena said, Sprite beamed with pride at the words of her summoner and even Rabbit Knight nodded in approval.
Yvlena thought about her summon skill and how it had risen previously but she hadn't investigated any of the boosts or even her new channeling skill.
The new summon slot was empty too.
"All in due time, it's not like I've used the summon bell either," she said. Yvlena stood from where she sat on the ground and looked around.
The haze darkening her vision had been another instance of the Miasmic fog.
"Well I know how to take care of that don't I?" She said taking one Ever Bloom out of her inventory.
She placed the plant on the forest floor, watching the white petals open to suck in the haze like dust into a vacuum.
Soon the fog was gone, leaving only a view of the forest path and more Ever Bloom seeds to plant.

"So glad I know how to get more seeds. But I wonder, could the Ever Bloom be used as a potion ingredient?" She asked.
She kept the thought aside.
For now it wouldn't be wise to hang around the path, she would need to head back to Bloom Haven and get more bottles from Risel as well as a myriad of other things.
"Once I finish the second task I know I'll have to prep for the third and then fight whatever's in the lake,"
"So much to do, but I'll head to Bloom Haven first, maybe weave the silk if I can. Madame Pratt said my crafting was too low but no harm in trying," Yvlena said.

"Yvlena you're back!" Risel said in excitement. Yvlena stumbled through the apothecary's doors in exhaustion. Fighting the Forest Spider had been no easy feat especially since she had been poisoned.
"Hi Risel," Yvlena said. "I'm going to need the Purifying Recipe and a lot more bottles,"
"No problem!" The elf said cheerfully.
"Any news on the Verdant Woods?" Risel asked hopefully.
"I need to purify the lake first I think," Yvlena said.
"Oh,"
"Something in particular you want me to do in the woods, other than the current quest of course?" Yvlena asked her friend.
"When you find the path to the next town could you let me come with you?" Risel asked.
