011~Class Quest? (4)

"Eh, horned rabbit queen?!" Aya says panicking, was she really equipped to face such a boss at this time? It's not like the game gives her a choice.

The rabbit lets out a loud roar, leaping into the air and landing in front of Yvlena who barely comes up to the creature's leg.

"I hope I don't die!" Aya says.

The beast attacks unleashing a shockwave with its large foot, the wave spreads across the forest floor, hitting Yvlena and causing 10 damage to her health.

"I thought it would be more but I guess I'm stronger now." Aya says unleashing an attack of her own, she hits only doing 10 damage to the horned rabbit queen.

The creature jumps and soon Aya notices it's her turn.

"What but I can't attack when it's up in the air. That's unfair." she checks her inventory to see if any of the herbs can help her. She scans the inventory until she comes across the Fox Tail herb.

"Fox Tail a common herb in Bloom Forest, Boosts attack by 10% when consumed raw. Used in Cooking, Alchemy, and Crafting. Aya uses it, getting the system message:

[10% Attack Boost Next 3 Turns]

The rabbit lands, Yvlena, thanks to her Agility is able to dodge what would have been a devastating attack. The attack misses, giving Aya a chance to attack and cause 15 damage again.

"That's better I guess, not by much though." she says.

[Horned Rabbit Queen Used Carrot Shot]

"The other Horned Rabbits have used that move before, it wasn't that strong if I recall." Aya says. The carrot hits causing -20 damage to Aya.

"-20!" Aya yells. She wonders if she should use a potion or continue to attack. "I'll be able to withstand a few more hits." Aya attacks again, combined with the attack boost she makes a critical hit of 30 damage.

The rabbit leaps up into the air and Aya takes the time to down a potion

[+20 HP]

The rabbit lands but this time Aya isn't so lucky. The shockwave hits, doing damage to the girl's character. Aya throws her hands up in the air, frustrated.

"I just healed too!"

she attacks, using the last of her boost to do some damage as well. The rabbit screeches, loud and shrill to the point Aya has to turn down the volume on her computer.

[Horned Rabbit Queen used Screech, 20% Attack Boost]

"This is some extinction burst behavior." Aya says with a chuckle, her turn comes again but she's only able to do a meager amount of damage.

"I'll use the boost when the rabbit jumps again." she says, thinking up a plan. She could only hold out for so long but so far she nods her head at her own resilience.

For someone who didn't know much about the game, it wasn't bad.

The rabbit leaps into the air and Aya takes the time to use the Fox Tail.

[10% Attack Boost Next 3 Turns]

The rabbit lands doing another wave of damage to Aya. With one final attack, she slashes, dealing the final blow to the Horned Rabbit Queen. The creature bellows, wailing in defeat as it dissolves into light.

Return to Beatrice]

Aya wastes no time running out of the forest back the way she came. Past the tall trees, glowing plants, and into the Meadow.

She breezes past the horned rabbits and jumps through the gates, greeting the guards as she runs through Bloom Haven to search for Beatrice.

All the while the Moon Valley forums were blowing up with the news of an announcement just posted on the site by the official admins.

New Forum Title:

[Bloom Forest Hidden Boss]

Eklan: Someone just killed the Bloom Forest Hidden Boss?

Killxkill: Who cares about some weak af boss?

Eklan: Are you dumb? Think about the drops from the boss, someone got that all to themselves and if they sell it on the auction house they'll make bank!

Sleeze4eva: Bet it was some high level player just cruising through, they always do stuff like that.

All around the forums, people wondered who had dealt the final blow to the Horned Rabbit Queen.

Weak or not a Hidden Boss was nothing to sneeze at, they were usually the legendary creatures of the game.

It would take at least a week for it to respawn meaning no one could go back to the forest to challenge it again for the time being.

Meanwhile in Bloom Haven

Aya runs around town looking for the NPC that had given her the quest.

On her way through town, she once again encounters the grumpy old man that had yelled about being an adventurer when she first logged on.

This time however he's chatting away with another NPC.

Aya hesitates but approaches him to ask if he would know where Beatrice was.

"Excuse me, do you know where I can find Beatrice, the herbalist?" Aya asks. The man looks away from the other NPC, facing Aya's character.

After a bit of staring, he asks

"And what business do you have with Beatrice?"

"I just completed her quest, I gathered the herbs she asked for." Aya says.

The man's eyes widen, he places his hands on his hips, confounded.

"Huh."

[Affinity with Tom increased +1]

"It's lovely that you would do such a thing for her, ever since her daughter left Beatrice has been all alone and can't get on with work like she used to because of how dangerous the forest is." Tom says. "It would be nice if you could help her out from time to time."

"Where did her daughter go?" Aya asks.

"Last I heard she was in Rosenheim." Tom says.

"What's her name?"

"Twyla."

[Beatrice's Daughter 2% completion]

"What's this? Some sort of passive quest?" Aya asks. It didn't look like a regular quest or even have any prompts.

"Maybe it's some world lore." Aya says. After speaking to Tom about Beatrice's location Aya zooms off.

Running towards another area of town she knows to be the Floral District.

Heading East of Bloom Haven, she finds herself farther and farther away from the bustling streets of the city center.

She walks into the quiet area of the Floral District surrounded by old wooden houses and dried up, dead flower beds.

Making her way through the cobble stone path Aya could make out a few towns folk going about their business.

Creaky wooden doors shut as she walks by and Aya wonders what Beatrice would be doing in such a place. Judging from the run down exterior of the surrounding houses and gardens this used to be a thriving part of the city.

"What happened here?" She murmurs. Aya continues on the path eventually stopping at a large wood and stone building.

It was a manor of some kind but it had long lost its luster. Aya stands before the rusty metal gates looking at the faded green paint of the manor.

The house was covered in vines and ivy. Some bits of moss stick to the side of the building while the statues of what Aya assumes to be the twin gods sit in an overgrown lawn.

Overall, the place was in a state of disrepair.

"This used to be called the Rose Manor." Beatrice's voice says. Aya didn't even notice the woman standing beside her all this time.

"What happened to it?" Aya asks, curious about the ruined but beautiful building.

"It's not just here, Yvlena. It's the whole Floral District of Bloom Haven and beyond. Ever since the war of gods." Beatrice says.

Aya pauses.

"Oh, this must be some in game lore. I should probably read up on it if I want this stuff to make any sense."

"I see." Aya replies, unknowing of the events the NPC is speaking about.

The old woman nods sadly, staring up at the building as Aya was doing before her.

"If only there was someone who could restore the district to its former glory." Beatrice says.

"I'm sure someone will come along Beatrice. But in the meantime, I've gotten the herbs you asked for."

"Thank you so much, my girl." Beatrice says smiling.

Leaning back into her chair Aya internally congratulates herself on a job well done. Now she had her subclass and would be able to participate in the story.

But something about this feels familiar, she faintly recalls a similar plotline from so long again when she still lived with her mother.

Aya twists her face in thought, trying hard to remember the story of Yvlena the elf girl, and the adventures her mother had written about all those years ago.

But Moon Valley couldn't be the same right? after all, there were tons of fantasy games where a battle between the gods had taken place, devastating the land.

Aya shakes it off.

Looking at the time she decides it's a good time to go to bed, tomorrow she would finally spend her Moon Points on something and check on the auction house.
