Moon to My Earth Part 4
Their First Time

Their First Time

In the warm sanctuary of their bedroom, Barth and Sarah slumber, entwined in a loving embrace. Barth's arms cradle Sarah from behind, holding her close as they bask in the comfort of their blanket. As morning's gentle light creeps in, Barth stirs, his movements gentle, so as not to disturb his beloved. He opens his eyes, gazing at Sarah with a tender smile, his heart filled with love. He tightens his hold, savoring the moment, and places a soft, whispery kiss on her shoulder. Sarah's face, serene in repose, slowly blooms with a smile as she awakens. Her eyes flutter open, and she gazes over her shoulder, meeting Barth's adoring gaze. As she turns to face him, Barth loosens his hold, allowing her to settle into his arms once more. Their eyes lock, shining with mutual affection, as they enjoy the warmth of their love. Barth's fingers graze Sarah's cheek, his touch sending shivers of delight through her. He leans in, his lips meeting hers in a soft, sweet kiss. Time stands still as they savor the moment, their hearts beating as one. As they break apart, their smiles linger, a testament to the love that fills their souls. Barth's voice, barely above a whisper, speaks words of devotion, his heart overflowing with emotion.

(B)Good morning, my beautiful rabbit.

(S)Good morning, my love.

(B)I’d love to spend most of the day just lying here and kissing you.

(S)[smiles] I would love that, too. We get to spend the entire day together today. Are you excited?

(B)You bet I am. I’m going to spoil you rotten and spend all day with you.

(S)I’m excited too. You don’t have to spoil me. It’s about the both of us living together.

(B)You should know by now that I don’t mind spoiling you. I want to. You’re right, it is about the both of us, but that doesn’t mean I can’t spoil you. You’re the one who moved in with me, so you deserve it for putting up with me for this long already.

(S)[giggles] I haven’t had one problem with you since I’ve been here, so hush, I love being here with you.

(B)I love being here with you too, but today, we’re doing whatever you want and we’ll have fun doing it.

(S)As long as you’re there and I’m having fun with you, that’s all that matters to me. Should I make some breakfast for us?

(B)No, we’ll go out for breakfast, so don't worry. Today is a special day with the woman I love and I don’t want her to lift one finger.

(S)Are you sure? We’re both supposed to be having fun. I want to spoil you, too. It’s not just about me, you know.

(B)[smiles] Only if you want to, sweetheart, as long as I’m spending time with you.

(S)Alright, I’ll get up and cook breakfast, okay?

(B)Alright, beautiful, I love you.

(S)I love you too.

Barth and Sarah indulge in a few more blissful moments, their lips dancing in gentle, loving, and rhythmic kisses. Finally, they reluctantly part, beginning their day with a sense of joy and connection. Sarah heads to the kitchen, where she crafts a delectable breakfast, filling the air with savory aromas that tantalize their taste buds. With their bellies full and spirits high, they set out to tackle the day. Meanwhile, at the training grounds, Emerald and Gordo prepare for their sparring session. They stretch their bodies, loosening any tight muscles, their movements fluid and deliberate. With a nod, they equip themselves with their trusty training knuckles. The air is electric with anticipation as they face off, ready to push themselves to new heights.

(G)So have you sparred with anyone before, Emerald?

(EM)Not really, I just kind of trained myself. I’d spend some time out in the forest kicking trees and fighting the occasional bandit to practice.

(G)Sounds like fun, so you already have experience in fighting bandits.

(EM)Yeah, pretty much, which is why I want to be an official Royal Guard, so it can practically be my job.

(G)Well, I’ll do everything I can to train you well. You said you need to train your punches, and that’s what I’m the best at. I’ve only in the last six months been training my legs, and it’s been fun.

(EM)Well, I’d be more than happy to help you with your kicks if you need it.

(G)That would be helpful, I appreciate it.

(EM)I still need to master my kicks regardless, so that’s why I’m here. I figured having a sparring partner would help, and since you’re using the same weapon and skills as me, I think it’ll be perfect.

(G)I do too. I look forward to training you in any way I can help.

(EM)Thanks, I’ll do the same if you need it. I’ve just been thinking about all the stories I heard yesterday. You all have been through a lot and I’m sorry.

(G)Honestly, don’t be. I’ve done things I’m not proud of, so don’t take too much pity on me.

(EM)They didn’t say what you did, just what Cormac did. Cormac just mentioned your “crimes”, but never went into specifics.

(G)Well, I was an accomplice to Cormac. I did his dirty work and I regret all of it as well. I was miserable and I couldn’t leave. I really wanted to help Cormac because I cared about him. He’s family to me and you always want to help people you care about and make them see the error of their ways.

(EM)I can understand that, and if you’re not comfortable talking about it, I won’t pressure you.

(G)Again, you don’t need to feel sorry for me. My crimes don’t deserve to be kept secret, especially my crimes against Kate.

(EM)I get it, Kate really is a sweet person, and she obviously cares about you and Cormac enough to forgive you.

(G)Oh trust me, I thank her every day because I owe her a lot for being as gracious as she is. Even after what I did, she was more than willing to bring me here after Cormac realized what he had done and let everyone leave the hideout. It was because of Kate that I was able to do better with my life and start over here in this city. She even told the queen that I was absolved and she agreed. Kate and the queen are close friends and she even vouched for Cormac and so did Merig after the incident at the camp. He determined as the commander of the guards that no action against Cormac was necessary, since he stood down and let us know that he was no longer a threat, and since he agreed to better himself and not carry out his revenge.

(EM)Well, I’m glad he realized what he had done, and hearing his story, I do kind of understand. Not to say what he did was right, just that pain can do things to you and make you the monster that people made you out to be.

(G)Yeah, and I myself was a reflection of that. I was the one who was ordered to kidnap Kate, and so I did. When I got to their house, she was hiding from me and two other bandits, so I went looking for her in the house. I found her in the closet and she tried running from me. I practically chased her around the house until she ran downstairs and the other two bandits that were with me grabbed her. A came downstairs and reminded her who I was because we had a previous incident where I threatened her while she was foraging. That’s when Cormac first started all this and wanted us to kidnap her, but I told him that Merig was very protective of her. So we waited until he could come up with something and we had bandits that secretly infiltrated and followed them. They came back and gave us the information and that’s how we found out they fell in love, so Cormac saw that as an opportunity to carry out his revenge. Well, she realized who I was when I showed her my scar since Merig shot me with an arrow after I cut Kate’s arm when I threatened her. Before I kidnapped her, she spit in my face and…

(EM)Then what?

(G)Like I said, I’m not proud of what I did, especially not when I heard what her ex-fiancé did to her. I slapped her in the face and knocked her glasses off before we took her. I wasn’t very nice to her, and she was a fighter, I’ll tell you that. She’s a sweet person, but she can stand her ground and be stubborn. She was determined to rescue Merig when he was taken, and she did everything to get to him. She even took another beating from Sean. I kept her in a cell at the bandit hideout and put cuffs on her as well since she was using her magic on me and she wanted to hurt me. I don’t blame her and we actually did talk while she was in there and I opened up to her about everything. She understood and said that she was willing to forgive me if I bettered myself, and she said the same to Cormac. He took time to think about what he had done and he took her up on that offer to better himself and not face repercussions. She did give him a good beating when he begged for forgiveness.

(EM)Really? Holy shit, that’s awesome, she sounds badass.

(G)[chuckles] She really is, and I even praised her for it since he did deserve it at the time. I deserved a beating as well, but Kate didn’t let Merig do that and was harsh on me with my training instead, which Kate didn’t like either, but she let it happen. Again, I deserved any form of punishment I got, so again, don’t go out of your way to pity me.

(EM)I get it and I commend you for doing better. I listened to all the stories and you’re all good people, despite everything.

(G)Really? I was sure after hearing my side, you’d think I was a monster.

(EM)You would’ve been a monster if you kept doing what you were doing.

(G)[smiles] Kate told me the same thing, and while I agree, I still do hold some guilt for it.

(EM)And that’s what makes you a better person.

(G)[chuckles] Kate said that as well, I owe my life to her and Merig, as well as the queen.

(EM)It sounds like good things came out of all the chaos.

(G)Pretty much. Now Kate is pregnant, and that’s the only thing she and Merig are focused on. Kate is really excited about it and so is Merig. You’ve heard their love story.

(EM)It’s really sweet, I remember their wedding. I didn’t attend, but I heard it was happening. I also heard he was knighted, that’s amazing.

(G)Yeah, it is. I had the pleasure of being one of the ring bearers along with Cormac. He was still recovering at the time, but he insisted on doing it, anyway.

(EM)You all seem like good people. At first, I thought a human and a Fomor falling in love was a little peculiar, but I guess I’m not against the idea. I’m pretty accepting of Fomors, so I don’t hate them.

(G)I’m not against it either, although as a Fomor, I did find it peculiar as well. I’m the only one out of us goblins that hasn’t found love and I’ve said that I’m okay with it. I’m in no rush to find it. But if it finds me, then I guess I’m okay with that as well. Kate said that I deserve love and happiness, but I have to disagree with her, which is why I’m not in any rush. I said that if any woman that I love knew what I did, she’d probably think I was a monster and wouldn’t want anything to do with me romantically.

(EM)That’s not true, just look at Cormac and Deirdre. He said she loves him despite what he did and they’re both happy. I think you’ll find love and I agree with Kate. You deserve it since you’ve bettered yourself. I’m sure some woman will come along and you’ll charm her like the other goblins have charmed their women.

(G)[chuckles] Maybe one day, but again, it’s the fear of being invested in someone with your whole heart, and them telling you that they hate you because of your past. Cormac even said something about it before he and Deirdre got together when they met after the reception, and he rejected her offer for dinner. He said that if Deirdre knew what he had done, she’d probably hate him, and he couldn’t bear the pain of heartbreak. I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t be able to bear it either, being in love with someone to be hurt and shattered even though you’re trying your hardest to be better and to forget and forgive myself, which sometimes, I still struggle to do because I still have guilt like I said.

(EM)I understand, but hey, if it makes you feel any better, I think you’re a good person and you deserve love. You’ll find the right woman. I’m positive that it will happen.

(G)Thanks for the optimism, we embrace that here.

(EM)[giggles] Alright, I’ve been talking for too long. Sorry, we should get started.

(G)Right, of course, sorry I don’t really talk about this much. I kind of keep it bottled up these days.

(EM)That’s not healthy, Gordo, I’m always here if you want to talk. I don’t mind being your friend.

(G)I appreciate it, Emerald. I don’t mind being your friend, either.

(EM)Alright, let’s do this.

(G)Okay, but you make the first move since it’s your first day.[smirk]

(EM)[smirk] You’ll regret saying that.

(G)Bring it.

Emerald and Gordo face off, their eyes locked in a fierce stare. They assume their fighting stances, fists clenched and bodies tense, ready to explode into action. With a fierce cry, Emerald charges at Gordo, her leg flying in a swift side-kicking motion. Gordo reacts with lightning-quick reflexes, his arm shooting up to block the kick. He raises his second arm, forming a defensive shield, as Emerald unleashes a flurry of punches. Each blow is met with Gordo's steadfast blocks, his movements a testament to his skill and training. Undeterred, Emerald dodges Gordo's counterattack with a swift sidestep, avoiding the punch by mere inches. The two continue their intense sparring session, their movements a blur of kicks, punches, and blocks. Meanwhile, at the cozy pub, a different kind of gathering takes place. Cormac, Larry, Merig, Ashley, and Kate have convened with Orla and Merig Senior, surrounded by warm smiles and lively chatter.

(O)Are you sure you want to take this day off, Merig? We don’t want to keep you from your duties.

(M)It’s perfectly fine, Mom. I told you I want to take some time to spend with you and Dad now that you’re here.

(Msr)Only if you’re sure, son, I hope the queen won’t get upset.

(M)I’m the commander, remember? The queen fully trusts me with this position in the guards and she’s given me free rein as commander and knight. She thinks I should take days off for important things such as this. I’m already taking days off to help Kate while she’s pregnant, so there’s no reason why I can’t take a day off to spend with my parents.

(K)He’s right, he took days off when my parents came to visit and you two are no different.

(O)[smiles] I just keep looking at your belly and I can’t help but remember when I was pregnant. I thought it was the most beautiful thing in the world, bringing a child into this world, even though they weren’t human in appearance. I love my boys so much and having that bond with them only to be ripped from me, was a hard thing to deal with.

(K)Oh, I can imagine, Orla, you did it to protect them, remember that.

(O)I do, don’t get me wrong, I just missed them when we were separated. I missed holding them in my arms and telling them that Mama loves them and watching them play outside. I get to see that again if you’ll let me.

(K)Of course, Orla, he’ll be your grandchild after all and you’re my mother-in-law and Merig Senior is my father-in-law. You’re both welcome in this child’s life by default and any other children I have after that. I told Merig that I wanted at least two.

(O)[gasp] I said the same thing, and I got my boys. They’ve grown so much. They’re big, strong, and brave warriors, and I’m very proud of them.

(M)Thanks, Mom, I’m just glad you’re both here. Barth is too.

(O)I’m glad he’s okay, we haven’t got to meet Sarah just yet.

(M)He’s taking her out today. They both got the day off to spend together to celebrate their sharing a home. Sarah moved in with Barth just a few days before you both got here. They’re both really happy.

(Msr)I’m glad he’s happy, I’m glad you’re both happy. You got married to a very lovely woman, and she’s beautiful.

(K)[smiles] Thank you, sir, Merig seems to think so, but my self-esteem really plummeted when Sean hurt me. He used to make horrible comments about my body and would put me down.

(Msr)That’s no man, that’s an insecure coward and no woman deserves that. He sure as hell doesn’t deserve an ounce of love from someone as sweet as you.

(K)Thank you, I’ve done much better since I left him, but some voices still whisper and tell me horrible things like he did.

(O)Well, they’re wrong and so is that man. Don’t blame yourself. You were manipulated, and you got out when he put his hands on you. That’s a smart thing to do. Your dad was brave to save his daughter from that monster.

(K)I never wanted to be with him again. I did love him, but he betrayed me and my love. I hate every ounce of him and I know things he said about me aren’t true, and Merig has told me that every day we’ve been together. He’s good to me and I can’t see myself with anyone else, not even another man.

(O)That’s love, even if he’s not human.

(K)I explained that to him and he had some self-esteem issues as well before we got married, and even when he confessed to me. He said he thought he wasn’t good enough for me because of what he is. I told him I didn’t care, and that I loved him for who he was. He’s still the love of my life and my husband. I can’t tell you how many talks I’ve had with Merig about how much I love him and how much I want to spend the rest of my life with him, and no one can stop me, not even Sean. Although my aunt on my mother’s side did show up and try to stop my wedding, she hates Fomors and Merig was there and scared her off. Then my mother met up with her and scared her off as well. My mom is a sweetheart, but she’s tough and she’ll fight anyone over me and so will my dad.

(Msr)You have wonderful parents, Kate, and you’re wonderful as well. Merig is very lucky to have someone like you and I’m happy for you both.

(M)I’m the luckiest goblin in the world.

(Msr)[chuckles] So am I, son, I still love your mother so much, our love has never soured.

(O)[smiles] Not once, even after thirty years, it’s still hard to believe it’s been that long.

(K)Thirty years is a long time, but it’s worth every minute. Isn’t that right, my earth?

(M)It’s worth every second, my moon. I want to be with you until I sigh my last breath.

(K)As do I, my love.

(O)You’re both so adorable together, also I haven't felt the baby kick yet. Can I?

(K)Of course, he’s pretty active right now since we’re talking.

(O)I’m so excited.

Orla's face radiates excitement as she rises from her seat, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. She glides around the table, her movements graceful, and stops in front of Kate, who turns to face her with a warm smile. Orla kneels, positioning herself at eye level with Kate's pregnant belly. Orla's hands are gently taken by Kate, who places them on her belly, where the baby's tiny kicks are a constant wonder. Orla holds her breath, waiting in silence, her body still, as she focuses on the sensations beneath her fingertips. Her eyes are fixed on Kate's belly, waiting for the magical moment. Suddenly, a tiny kick startles Orla, making her jump with delight. Her eyes widen in awe, and a radiant smile spreads across her face. Tears of joy well up in her eyes as she tenderly rubs Kate's belly, feeling the baby's gentle movements.

(K)What’s wrong, Orla?

(O)Oh nothing, it’s just bringing back memories. You tend to cry over beautiful things in life, and this is one of them.

(C)I remember when I first felt the baby kick. It made me appreciate life. Kate will be a wonderful mother.

(O)Oh, there’s no doubt about that, and I’m always here if you need me or have any questions. Are you okay with us being there when he’s born?

(K)Absolutely, everyone wants to be there, but I think Merig should be at my side and the grandparents can be closer to me while I’m giving birth. I just don’t want to be overwhelmed, that’s all.

(O)Oh, I completely understand, dear, I don’t want to impose at all.

(Msr)We want you to feel as comfortable as possible during the birth. You don’t want to get stressed out.

(M)That’s right, sweetheart, I’ll be right beside you the whole time.

(K)Oh, I talked to my mom when she last came to visit. My aunt Sharon knows about me being pregnant and she’s not happy.

(M)Well, it’s a good thing she can’t set foot in this city ever again.

(O)Is that the aunt you mentioned that hates Fomors and tried stopping your wedding?

(K)Yep, that’s her. I know she’d try her best to convince me to not let this child into the world. She’s a piece of garbage and I’m embarrassed to be related to her.

(O)You really love Merig, don’t you?

(K)Of course I do, he’s everything to me. I married him and I’m having his child and I don’t let anyone stop me, like I said before and I meant it.

(O)You’re the perfect daughter-in-law and I love you already.

(K)[smiles] I love everyone in my life. You all mean a lot to me.

Orla tenderly lifts her hands from Kate's belly, her eyes still shining with wonder. She rises from her kneeling position, her movements graceful, and leans down to envelop Kate in a warm, gentle embrace. The hug is a soft, comforting squeeze, filled with affection and joy. As she pulls away, Orla's face breaks into a radiant smile, her eyes sparkling with delight. She turns and returns to her seat beside Merig Senior, who gazes at Kate with a warm, gentle smile. His eyes crinkle at the corners as he speaks, his voice low and soothing, adding to the sense of warmth and connection in the room.

(Msr)If you mean the world to our son, then you mean a lot to us as well.

(O)That’s right, you’ve obviously made my son happy.

(M)Happier than I’ve ever been.

(K)[smiles] Well, he's made me happy too, so it's only fair that I do the same.

(O)Can I see your wedding rings?

(K)Of course, here…

(O)...Oh, that’s beautiful. What’s it made of?

(K)Mahogany coated in resin with an emerald in the middle.

(O)[smiles] You love nature.

(K)Yes, ma’am I do, it’s perfect for me.

(M)I’ll let you in on a little secret. Miss Silvia had a hand in making that. The same person that’s making Cormac and Deirdre’s rings.

(K)[gasp] She did?

(M)Indeed she did. She was asked by me if she could make the band and then I took it to the queen’s jeweler to set the emerald in it.

(K)That’s amazing. I love Miss Silvia. She’s a sweetheart. She provided the flowers for my wedding and she didn’t charge me anything. She’s a wonderful person.

(M)She is, we owe her a lot, especially for Kate’s ring.

(O)Let me see yours, Merig.

(M)Here…

(O)Oh, I like this, what’s this one made of?

(M)Iron and an arrowhead.

(Msr)Oh, that’s an amazing ring. It’s perfect for you, son.

(O)It sure is beautiful, sweetheart. Where did you get it made?

(M)Actually, it was a gift from Kate’s father, Thomas.

(O)How wonderful, they must love you.

(K)Oh, they do. Once they heard about his bravery from the first incident, they immediately thought of him as family and approved of us getting married. They said we didn’t even need their approval because they trusted that Merig would love me and take care of me. When they heard about everything with my ex-fiancé, they praised him even more. They can’t wait to meet their grandchild.

(O)I don’t blame them one bit, we can’t wait either. We also wanted to thank you.

(K)Me? For what?

(O)Your dedication to Merig, I should thank the rest of you as well. You saved his life by bringing him back from the dead and saving him from that man.

(K)If I didn’t do anything, that man was going to kill Merig, Barth, and the rest of my friends. Then he was going to take me and do who knows what.

(Msr)I can’t imagine, and I can’t imagine the horror and torment that man put you through. Even after all of that, you still trusted someone with your life and trusted them to love you, as Merig does. You are a powerful person, Kate, and a brave woman to go out of your way to save the one you love.

(K)If I did nothing, he wouldn’t be here and his child wouldn’t know who his father is. I also wouldn’t have my husband with me, the love of my life, the goblin I fell in love with. I even faced my fear of spiders and fought them so I could save Merig.

(O)Love conquers all, even fear. Love laughs in the face of fear, and it knows no limits.

(K)You’re absolutely right, I would fight anyone or anything for my husband. I even took that beating so I could destroy the Fomor seal. I didn’t care as long as I brought Merig back to me.

(O)You’re perfect for our son and the family. Not that we had any say, to begin with, but we still feel guilty for not being in both of our son’s lives. But they seem to be well taken care of, since Merig has you, and Barth has Sarah.

(K)Yeah, they’ve taken care of themselves pretty well. Although before Merig and I went on our date, he didn’t have a full wardrobe.

(L)It’s true, I had to take him shopping, and I took care of the costs. He’s my best pal, and I’d do that for him if he needed it, and trust me, he needed it.[chuckles]

(M)[sigh] I’ll admit, all I wore was my armor during the day and night clothes when I went to sleep. I neglected myself in that aspect, but when I came here after leaving the bandit hideout, I started taking care of my hygiene since it was pretty bad.

(L)He’s not wrong, it’s a wonder what a little grooming can do, even for a goblin.

(Msr)I know exactly what you mean, Larry. I was always worried about not smelling or looking good for Orla. She used to love this one fragrance I wore. It smelled like pine and she loved the smell of pine. She was all over me when I wore it.

(O)[giggles] I’ll admit, I was smitten and that smell just drove me wild. I was already in love with him, so compare that with my favorite scent and love conquers me.

(K)I would love to hear your love story.

(O)[smiles] I think we have time for that, don’t you think Merig?

(Msr)I don’t see why not.

(O)Well, I was in my early twenties in Dunbarton, and this was a time when Fomors who didn't wish to harm anyone were just beginning to become accepted. So there were some that came to live in the town, but some humans were skeptical about them being peaceful. Merig Senior was one of those Fomors in that group, and I honestly didn’t think all Fomors were bad, so I personally started to befriend them. Well, one day I was practicing my magic outside of the town, hitting trees and small animals to master my spells. While I was practicing, I heard someone approaching, and I got a little startled, so I quickly charged up my lightning spell and spun around. I fired it and it hit Merig Senior and knocked him back and he fell to the ground from the attack. I felt so bad when I realized it was him since I recognized him as one of the goblins that I had befriended. I panicked and rushed over to see if he was okay, but he was unconscious.

(Msr)I remember I don’t even know what hit me. It happened so fast.

(O)I knelt down, picked up his upper half, and put him on my lap. Thankfully, He was still breathing but woke up after a few minutes. He opened his eyes and looked up at me and he started to smile at me. I was happy that I didn't kill him and I apologized profusely.

(Msr)I was always curious about Oral, and I would watch her practice her magic from afar while I was out shooting my arrows. I was just so fascinated by her and I wanted to get a closer look, so I finally gathered the courage to approach her. When I came to after the lightning spell incident, I looked up at her and I saw her beauty. When I first met her, you could say it was love at first sight. She approached me with her beautiful smile when she greeted me for the first time and we got along great. We started talking and I just couldn’t stop. She was just so mesmerizing to look at and admire. I was grateful to be accepted into the town and when Orla befriended me. I was even more happy. We saw each other frequently, and I even invited her to lunch one time and she agreed. We talked and got to know each other before that incident.

(O)I was relieved when he woke up and thankfully he said he could stand, so I helped him to his feet. I offered to make it up to him, so I bought him lunch that time and we talked some more and got to know each other a little better. From then on, we would watch each other practice outside of the town. I watched him shoot his arrows, and he'd watch me cast my spells. I started to fall in love with him.

(Msr)We spent a lot of time together inside the town as well. I tried really hard to impress her and it seemed to work.

(K)[smiles] That sounds very similar to our story, doesn't it, my love?

(M)Very similar. I did my best to impress you as well, my moon.

(K)Well, it worked on me as well.

(Msr)I eventually asked Orla on a date with me, since the other Fomors advised me to do so since we spent a lot of time together and because I was so in love with her. So one day while we were outside of the town practicing, I just asked her outright.

(O)I was more than open to the idea since his attempts to impress me made me smitten as well. So a bashful me in my twenties said yes without hesitation.

(Msr)It’s true, we went out on a very lovely date and we walked around the town after dinner. It was late at night and no one was out, so she and I snuck off somewhere together. I took her to the top of the town walls where you could look at the inside and outside of the city from a higher view.

(O)We walked all along that wall for quite a while. I was sure we did a few laps around the town. We talked for a while and we started to open up about ourselves more. I told Merig about my life growing up, and he told me his. Next thing you know, we’re looking into each other’s eyes and he’s holding my hands.

(Msr)I finally decided to confess my love for Orla. I told her how much I was in love with her. I was happy to know that she felt the same.

(O)I told Merig that he had charmed me, everything about him just made me smitten. I confessed my love for him as well, and we were both over the moon that night. We even shared our first kiss and what I felt next was completely unexpected. My heart fluttered and my stomach was in knots, but the feeling was amazing when he grabbed me and kissed me. He was the kindest and sweetest person I had ever met, and he still is. Merig was truly a peaceful Fomor, and he stole my heart.

(Msr)Orla stole my heart as well, I really don’t know what came over me when I kissed her, it just happened and I was worried that she would push me away or run away scared when I told her how I felt.

(K)[giggles] My Merig said the same thing. It seems the more you tell me, the more I realize how similar our stories are.

(O)History repeats itself in different ways. When you told me you watched your Merig shoot his arrows, it instantly made me think of my story with Merig Senior.

(Msr)I didn't know what Orla would think about being with me. So I asked her if she ever wanted to be with me and we could be together. To my surprise, once again, she did, and we were together and happy, and we even made love for the first time.

(O)[smiles] It was amazing. It was the best thing I had ever experienced. Merig Senior was my first. I lost my virginity to him, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

(Msr)Orla was my first as well. It was very special to us both. We saw each other every day and she would sneak off to my home and we would spend nights together. She soon decided she wanted to share a home with me.

(O)We spent so much time together and made love as often as we wanted to. We were so in love and it hasn’t changed much at all, even all this time later.

(Msr)However, some of the townspeople weren’t too pleased with our relationship and we started experiencing terrible treatment. Most of the people were on our side and just wanted to live with us in peace. But unfortunately, we didn’t get that luxury. Orla and I were together for almost a year before I decided I wanted to marry her, and so I proposed to her.

(O)I was elated, and I immediately said yes. I also had great news for him at the same time. I found out that I was pregnant with Barth.

(Msr)I was elated to be starting a family with Orla. But the displeased people didn’t take kindly to it. They even tried stopping our wedding, but the rest of the people supported us along with most of the other Fomors.

(O)Merig’s best friend was another goblin who was his best man. He stopped the other townspeople from interfering. Merig and I were married, and months later, I gave birth. The funny thing is, Barth was named after Merig Senior’s best friend.

(K)What, really?!

(Msr)That’s right, that’s why I named Merig after myself and Barth after my best friend, to honor us both and carry on the names.

(M)Wow, I never knew that Dad. I remember Uncle Barth too, and so does our Barth. He wasn’t our uncle by blood, but he treated us like we were his own nephews.

(K)That’s amazing, that’s genuine friendship.

(O)We got separated from your Uncle Barth as well. He saved us from being killed and we think he was killed by the townspeople in the process when we all fled the village.

(Msr)We never got the chance to confirm whether he was alive, so to this day, we assume that those people killed him. But Barth lives on with his namesake, and he will always be remembered if he did meet his fate.

(O)Once the townspeople found out I was pregnant, they didn’t like that one bit. But your Uncle Barth was there and protected me, and so did Merig Senior. I couldn’t leave the house without someone approaching me and yelling at me. It was stressful for me and the baby, and the incident we told you about where Merig’s eyes first turned red and he got angry. It happened during one of those incidents. I was so close to my due date, and we were out getting food for the house when a group of townspeople approached us on a day when Uncle Barth wasn’t with us. They saw the opportunity to try to threaten my life, but Merig got very angry and he knew it was upsetting me. He was fed up and his eyes turned crimson while he shouted at the top of his lungs at the people surrounding us. They backed off, but they were terrified of him, seeing him as a monster. At that moment, my water broke and Merig rushed me to the healer where Barth was born just days before he was supposed to. Thankfully, he was healthy, and I took him into my arms and cried my eyes out, thinking I was going to lose him. Your Uncle Barth showed up soon after to meet his nephew and he cried tears of joy when we told him we named the baby after him. We told him about the incident and he was furious, but we told him not to retaliate because it wouldn’t be good for us.

(Msr)But one day would be the day that we were exiled. Just a week after Barth was born, your mother was in the house breastfeeding him when we heard banging on the door. I rushed to answer it and it was your Uncle Barth. He rushed inside and told us to pack what we could. He heard the villagers planning to run us out of the town and told us to hurry. We packed up what we could, and we were about to leave the town, but we were stopped outside of the house. The townspeople surrounded us once again and threatened our lives if we didn’t leave. The other Fomors that were there and the other townspeople that were on our side heard the commotion and came to our defense, telling them we weren’t a threat to anyone. But the people’s biases were rooted in hate for Fomors, even the ones trying to live in peace. Barth told them that we were leaving and not to worry and the others on our side joined us and we all left that day to find somewhere else to live. Orla needed to be in a stable home without the chaos so we could raise our son. We found empty land with rich soil and secluded from civilization. We settled there, and we started building a small village together with the help of some carpenters who were in the group of people, with us along with stonemasons and other people who could build homes. Not long after, we had a home built so that I, Orla, and Barth could have a place to sleep. The people made him a bassinet to sleep in and he was at peace again. We started to till the soil on the land and plant seeds for crops and soon we had built a farm village after a year where we were happy. It took a while, but it was home, and four years later, Orla became pregnant again with Merig.

(O)I was so happy to be pregnant with a second child while Barth was just a toddler and he wanted someone to play with. There were human children in the village, but he wanted a brother so badly. When we told him that he had a brother on the way, he was so happy and excited. I gave birth to Merig not long after Barth turned five, so it was practically a five-year difference between the two of them. Barth was so happy to meet his baby brother. He was so gentle with him and would always talk to him. Merig would look at Barth, and it’s as if Merig understood him and would smile at him. It was the most precious thing I had ever seen. I’m tearing up just remembering it. Barth loved his baby brother.

(Msr)The next five years would be very peaceful for all of us, and your Uncle Barth had so much fun spending time with his nephews. They would play outside all day and get dirty. Orla wouldn't be too happy when they'd come inside covered in dirt and mud. We would both give them baths, and it would be chaos in the tub as well. Our boys were very energetic and loved playing and having fun. It was a joy to watch them grow. Merig and Barth bonded and were best friends. They went everywhere together, and Merig clung to Barth like glue. They were so young and full of life, but all that happiness would come to an end when those same townspeople found our village. They weren't happy to see that Orla birthed another goblin child and said the most vile things to Merig and Barth.

(M)I remember what they said, even as a child, and it affected how I viewed myself. But once I met Kate, my view changed, and even more so, before we got married.

(Msr)Good, because none of what those people said is true. You turned out to become the person every parent wishes their children could turn out to be.

(O)That's right, we’re so proud of you and Barth and we love you so much. We're so glad you don't resent us.

(M)We have no reason to, Mom.

(Msr)Well, as we said before, they threatened to destroy our village if we didn't leave and told us to not go looking for you two after we told Barth to take you and run. We were going to protect you and your mother at any cost. Even your Uncle Barth wanted to put up a fight with those people, and he did. That's why we don't know what happened to him because he told us to get out of there as well and he would take care of the people. We've never heard from him since and that's why we believe that he was killed.

(M)It does from the sounds of it, considering how aggressive they were towards you and Mom.

(A)Wow, I'm so sorry you all went through that.

(L)Yeah, we're grateful to be living in a time where people are more accepting of us Fomors.

(C)I mean, I was exiled as well by the people of our town and the other Fomors living there couldn't go against them, even when they had testimonies saying I wasn't an evil Fomor.

(O)What you went through is just as terrible, Cormac, but yes, we're happy times have changed and we're all living in peace together and coexisting.

(Msr)As am I, we felt so safe in Belvast where all Fomors and humans are welcome.

(O)Sadly, I lost the ability to bear any more children. I was sure your father was going to leave me.

(Msr)I told you, my love, I love you no matter what. We already brought two brave sons into this world, but even if we hadn't, I'd love you, regardless.

(K)Merig said the same thing when I suspected that I couldn't have children and heard what Sean did to me. Merig said he wouldn't love me any less if I couldn't get pregnant and give him a son.

(M)And I still stand by that, even if you didn't get pregnant. But I'm very happy that you are sweetheart, and he'll be raised in an environment that will love and accept him. Some may not, but we don't associate with them and they're not as loud these days.

(O)We knew this was going to be the perfect place, especially to reconnect with our boys and meet the newest members of the family.

(K)[smiles] And it's truly an honor to meet you. We're so happy you're here.

(O)Likewise, sweetheart, we’re proud to call you our daughter-in-law. You’re a wonderful woman to our son and just wonderful in general. It’s so great to see another human fall in love with a Fomor as I did, but I’m sure we’re not the only ones out there.

(K)I said the same thing. I said it’s not outside of the realm of possibilities and it could be more accepted now than it was back then. Since I grew up and was raised around Fomors, I saw them as my fellow humans and as equals.

(Msr)You were raised right, Kate, I’m sure your parents are wonderful since they raised you to think that way. I acknowledge there are bad Fomors, of course.

(K)Wait till you meet them. They’re amazing people and my mom even told my Aunt Sharon a thing or two when she had disagreements about my wedding and threatened to stop it. She’s banned from the city and I’ve heard she has problems about me being pregnant with a goblin child. She’s not in my life anymore and my mother has cut her off as well.

(O)Good on her and good on you, stand your ground, and don’t give in to people like her. What you do with your life is of no one’s concern but yours and Merig’s.

(K)That’s right and now it concerns the life of my child and I won’t let anyone hurt my baby. If anyone has anything to say or do about me having this child, they can go through Merig and he’s very protective and he’ll put anyone in their place.

(M)It’s true, I’ve found myself to be most protective since she’s been pregnant. I know it’s out of line, and I feel terrible when it makes her uncomfortable. I just can’t help but want to keep her safe.

(Msr)I understand what you’re saying, son, but just think of how much stress you’re causing her. I know your heart is in the right place and you want to shield her, but sometimes you can do more harm than good. Just be mindful and consider her feelings before taking action. That’s what I learned from your mother being pregnant. Although that one time I showed that side of me, her life was being threatened. So I had to show them those red eyes and that anger and your mother went into labor. If a situation like that arises where Kate’s life is threatened, then it’s appropriate to intervene. But if it’s smaller incidents like that man bumping into her, try not to act out of emotion. Take it away from Kate so that she doesn’t experience any pain from the baby or stress.

(M)I understand that now and I take accountability for it. Kate and I both are becoming more mindful.

(K)He's right. I learned that asking for help is better than doing things myself and risking getting hurt and ultimately hurting my child in my womb. Had Cormac not been there when that man bumped into me, I surely would have fallen, and who knows what kind of damage that would’ve caused? I usually don’t ask for help when going to the bathroom and I risk the same thing happening when I insist on taking myself. I try to be independent and I’m usually the one helping others, but this time, I’m the one that needs help and I’m learning that it’s okay to ask for it.

(O)That’s right, dear, you’re in your most vulnerable state when you’re pregnant, so be careful and I’m sure anyone here is willing to step in and assist you if you need it, including your husband.

(C)She’s right. At that moment, when that incident happened, I felt it was in my hands to stop Kate from falling. I was the only one there that was able to at that moment, so it was only right and I didn’t want anything bad to happen to her.

(O)You’ve got a good heart, Cormac, Deirdre is so lucky to have you and she’s a sweetheart herself. I’m sure you’re both excited about being parents and getting married.

(C)I’m elated and so is she. Words can’t express how happy I am honestly. I never thought I would live this kind of perfect life, nor did I think I deserved it. But hearing that Deirdre is carrying my child, something is trying to tell me that I’ve done good in my life.

(K)And you have, Cormac, you’ve done wonderful and we’re all happy for you and Deirdre. I’m sure she’s over the moon.

(C)She is. She can’t stop talking about having a protruding belly like yours, Kate.

(K)[giggles] It’s not as easy as it looks, but I admire her enthusiasm. I was the same way, though. Not too long ago, Deirdre was absolutely smitten by Cormac, and now look at them.

(C)[chuckles] I’ll be honest, I thought she was very beautiful when I first met her at the flower shop. I was very interested in getting to know her more and, to my surprise, she was at the wedding reception. She remembered that I told her she could meet me here at the pub if she wanted to see me again. She didn’t think I’d remember her name since I really didn’t think I would, because I told her I can be terrible at remembering someone's name. But I guess I remembered because of how much interest in her I had. Then I thought about how much I didn’t think I deserved love and happiness. But she looked past my crimes and accepted me for who I was, the better person I strived to be once more.

(O)That’s love. It conquers all, and it’s unconditional.

(C)I owe my life to her and for being a part of my new life here. It’s perfect with her in it and I couldn’t imagine showing anyone else the amount of love that I have for her. That's why I’m not letting this other woman back in my life. She doesn’t deserve my time after what she did to me. Honestly, the pain of it is gone, but the disdain for her isn’t. I shouldn’t be feeling that pain anymore, since the love I had for her was gone as well. As long as she stays out of my life, we won’t have problems, but it seems her purpose is to insert herself even when I told her no.

(O)Some women don’t know how to take no for an answer, women like her don’t like to be told no. They’re spoiled brats who feel entitled to someone or something and will do whatever it takes to get it, at any cost. Men can be that way as well.

(C)She has another thing coming if she thinks she can get me back, and if she tries hurting Deirdre, I won’t be nice to her. I will put my hands on a woman if she threatens the woman I love. I know that sounds horrible to say, but I will protect Deirdre at any cost, especially now that she’s pregnant with my child.

(M)I think the same way, just think rationally before doing anything drastic like my dad mentioned.

(C)Trust me, even after going mad, I’ve learned to have a level head. I was calm when I talked to Thornton before I killed him. Deirdre will tell you.

(O)You’re right to protect your woman and harm anyone who intends to harm her as long as it doesn’t harm her in the process.

(Msr)That’s right, Orla, but now that you’ve heard our love story, I’d love to hear Larry and Ashley’s love story.

(L)[smiles] The best part of my life, falling in love with this woman and making her mine.

(A)Well, to make a long story short, I moved here to become a royal alchemist like Kate mentioned, while she stayed back in Taill to care for her mom who was ill. I was here for a while and I even worked here as a waitress for a few months. I met Larry and Merig and we all hit it off pretty well and became friends. I told them what I wanted to do here and then one day, after months of being here, Larry came to me and told me that he put in a good word for me to the queen so I could start my training. I was excited, and I even hugged him out of excitement and I told Sherry I’d only be able to be here on certain days while I trained. She was fine with it. I started training myself and then Larry volunteered to help me and we sparred a lot at the training grounds.

(L)I fell in love with her not long after she started working here. I flirted with her and even asked her on a date one day while we were training. She rejected me and it hurt, but she had her reasons.

(A)While I was training, I met this guy in the guards, Ryan, and we hit it off at the time. We started dating, and he wanted to spend more time with me outside of training. But I was always training and he wanted to monopolize my time, but I told him I wasn’t going to stop training for him and I still worked here for Sherry. He left me at first, but then came to me and begged me to take him back not long after and he conceded and said he understood that I had a lot to do, and I thought that was the end of it. But little did I know what he was doing and why he conceded so easily. I showed up at his home one day when I had a day off and when I knocked on the door, someone answered, but it wasn’t Ryan. A red-headed woman opened the door and said that he was upstairs sleeping. I was in shock when she said that she was his girlfriend and I didn’t know what to say. I just walked away, and I went home. I cried myself to sleep that night. Larry was there to talk to me when I needed it, and I ended up dating a couple more times outside of the guards. I didn’t want that to happen again, and I felt like dating other fellow guards wasn’t the best idea. After that, I just gave up because they just didn’t understand what I wanted. I know it was partially my fault for not taking time away from my work, but I kept rejecting Larry and, after the incident with Ryan, he stopped flirting with me and asking me out. While he and I were training together before all of it, I actually fell in love with him, but I was conflicted about it. I grew up around Fomors as well but, I didn’t know how I felt being with one in a romantic relationship. Larry and I got to know each other better and the damage of my rejections I felt was already done, and so was the heartbreak from Ryan.

(L)Oddly enough, I still had a lot of love for her despite all of that. I toned down my flirting and just talked with her every day to help her feel better. We would also do some sparring to help her with any frustrations she had. I remember when we were training, she would get injured frequently and I would pick her up and rush her to the healer. Sometimes, if the injury was bad, I would stay overnight with her and bring her flowers to help her smile and heal.

(A)That’s when my feelings for him grew more and I didn’t want to get hurt again, so I just stayed quiet for a while as I healed from everything. Then, over a year later, Kate finally relocated here, and I took a day to help her pack, and then the next day we headed off and came here. Then another year later, she and Merig confessed their love, and I watched their love grow and blossom. The night they went on a date is when I finally opened up to Larry and confessed my love for him. I gave him a chance, and the rest is history. We went on a date not long after and then we made love for the first time after some time. I realized what I was missing out on, but Larry made it clear that I didn’t miss out because he still loved me.

(L)I told her I’d wait for her forever if I had to, but I don’t regret anything.

(A)Neither do I and we got married three months ago, almost a year later. I’ve never been happier with him. He’s so good to me.

(L)And you’re good to me as well, my red hot flame.

(O)Such a beautiful love story, broken hearts but mended with love.

(A)I felt bad for breaking Larry’s heart and I struggled with it. But he assured me that he didn’t hate me for it. He understood why I rejected him.

(L)It was all worth it to be with her. I knew eventually she’d come around. I did feel bad for pestering her, not knowing what she truly went through until she mentioned it. Not in full detail, but enough for me to know she was in pain, so I stopped trying to pursue her, but I still let her know that I cared about her.

(A)Trust me, I knew, I just stayed quiet and continued to try to be a good friend.

(L)Trust me, sweetheart, you were, don’t sell yourself short. You’re a wonderful person and I love you so much, Mrs. Dugan.

(A)[smiles] I love you, too.

Larry's eyes lock onto Ashley's, their smiles mirroring each other's joy. He gently places his hand under her chin, his thumb tracing the curve of her jaw. Leaning in, he brushes a soft, tender kiss against her lips, the moment filled with warmth and affection. As they break apart, the door to the pub swings open, and Deirdre enters, her face aglow with a bright smile. She makes her way to the group table, her steps light and carefree as she navigates the table with ease, her eyes sparkling with warmth. The group's attention turns to her as she settles beside Cormac. Deirdre turns to him, her face inches from his, and plants a gentle kiss on his cheek. Cormac's eyes crinkle at the corners as he smiles, his gaze meeting hers, their faces lighting up with delight.

(DD)Hello, my love, I come bearing good news.

(C)What is it, my sunflower?

(DD)Grandma said that the rings should be finished by tomorrow.

(C)[smiles] That’s great news! I can’t wait to see them.

(DD)Me either, you’re going to love them.

(C)I’m sure I will.

(DD)I’m sorry, did I interrupt a conversation?

(C)No, sweetheart, you didn’t.

(A)Yeah, Larry and I were just telling our love story.

(DD)[smiles] I remember you telling me and I think it’s so sweet.

(K)Merig Senior and Orla told their love story as well.

(DD)Oh no, I missed it, I would’ve loved to hear it.

(O)[giggles] It’s okay, we don’t mind sharing it again, right, my love?

(Msr)I’m sure we have time for it, dear.

(DD)Also, I wanted to set up an appointment with Nessa to get a checkup if that’s okay.

(C)Of course, you don’t need to ask me, sweetheart. It’s for you and the baby, so do whatever you think is necessary, okay?

(DD)Okay, oh and I’m not sure when you wanted to start planning the wedding.

(C)That’s right, we have to start doing that, don’t we? That’s something I’d have to discuss with the commander since he’ll be dealing with my guard duty schedule.

(M)I’m sure we can work something out. There’s no reason you can’t take time off to plan it. I took time off as well when Kate and I were planning. It’s only fair to do the same for you since I did the same for Larry as well.

(C)Thanks, buddy, then we’ll start planning soon, okay, my sunflower?

(DD)Alright, my love, but for now I’d like to hear this story.

(O)Alright, but prepare yourself, it’s a long one.

(DD)[smiles] I’ve got time as well.

Orla and Merig Senior settle in, ready to regale Deirdre with their tale once more, as the group lingers at the pub, savoring each other's company. Meanwhile, in the crisp city air, Barth and Sarah stroll hand in hand, their footsteps harmonious. Sarah wraps her autumn cloak tightly around her, clinging to Barth's warmth as they explore the bustling streets. Together, they meander through shops, pause at a cozy cafe, and delight in a leisurely lunch. As they continue their leisurely walk, Barth gazes down at Sarah, his eyes meeting hers as she looks up at him. Their smiles entwined, a tender moment shared between them. Sarah's voice breaks the gentle silence, her words awaiting expression.

(S)I’m having so much fun spending time with you. It’s just the two of us on a chilly autumn day, but the sun is still shining.

(B)I’m having fun as well, sweetheart. I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself. Is there anything specific you want to do?

(S)No, what we’re doing now is just fine. We’ve done a lot so far.

(B)There’s got to be something you want to do, cause tonight, I’ll take you to dinner. Then we’ll go back home and maybe sit in front of the fireplace and get warm.

(S)I would love that so much. You know I’m not picky. I’ll do whatever you want to as well. I told you this day isn’t just about me.

(B)Alright, well I’d like to do something before our dinner tonight. We can always go out to the forest and walk around. I remember you said you love the autumn leaves and how beautiful they look.

(S)[gasp] Yes! I would absolutely love that! Would you want to do that with me?

(B)Absolutely, as long as I get to spend time with you.

(S)Let’s do it, but first, are you sure you wanted today to be the day we spend together? Your parents are here and I’m sure you want to spend time with them.

(B)I do, but I made a promise to you that when you get a day off, we'd spend it together to celebrate sharing a home. We both got a day off and I kept my promise.

(S)I just didn't want you to feel as if you were missing out on spending time with your parents.

(B)I'm not missing out on anything, sweetheart, they live here just like we do.

(S)Are you upset with your parents?

(B)No, of course not. Why do you ask?

(S)Just hearing from you what happened on their side of the story breaks my heart.

(B)Do I hate what happened? Of course, who wouldn't? We were forced to be separated. It wasn't their fault at all, so I don't blame them one bit. I'm just glad they're alive because I really thought they were dead. I'm still processing that they're even here and I honestly thought I was dreaming yesterday when they came to the pub. They’ve gotten older and they’re still as wonderful, and my mother is still as cheerful as I remember. My father has been taking care of her, he’s a good husband to her.

(S)They kind of remind me of Kate and Merig. It was almost as if I was seeing those two in the future. Your parents are so sweet to each other as well, just like Kate and Merig.

(B)They're very similar and it seems Merig inherited that gentle side of my father, as well as the other side of him. The side of him with those crimson eyes and the need to protect the ones he cares about, especially Kate.

(S)Wow, it all makes sense then. But wouldn't you inherit that as well? You have the gentle side, but did you inherit the side that Merig inherited too?

(B)Yeah actually, I did, but…

(S)Barth honey, what’s wrong?

(B)Well, I don’t even want you to see that side of me.

(S)Why not? Is there something wrong with it?

(B)You seem calm just talking about it. You’re not afraid of it when you see Merig in that state?

(S)No, he hasn’t hurt any of us. I mean, he was possessed and targeted Kate, but he also targeted you. He couldn’t help it though and he hasn’t attacked anyone since that Fomor seal was destroyed and Sean was put away.

(B)[sigh] I understand what you’re saying, I just don’t ever want to get that angry and you have to witness that.

(S)Barth, are you saying it’s a bad thing that Merig got angry the night that man at the pub hit Kate like you witnessed before I even came along?

(B)No, Merig beat the shit out of that man and he deserved it for hitting Kate.

(S)And is it a bad thing that he got angry and showed his red eyes and anger to Cormac when he had Kate locked up at that bandit camp?

(B)No, he went to rescue her, and he was very angry, but also rational in demanding he return her to him.

(S)And was it a bad thing when Merig showed those red eyes and beat the hell out of Sean because he forced Merig to watch him slap Kate around in the dungeon and almost kill her and her unborn child?

(B)...No, he did what he did because she’s his wife and he loves her.

(S)And do you not love me?

(B)Of course, I do.

(S)So would you do the same for me?

(B)You know I would. I’ll tear anyone apart who threatens or hurts you.

(S)Alright then, what would be so bad about seeing you protect me and hurt someone who hurt me?

(B)Nothing at all, Sarah, I just don’t want you to be afraid of me, that’s all.

(S)And I already told you that I’m not and I wouldn’t be afraid as long as you don’t hurt me in that state.

(B)You know I wouldn’t, I’m able to control it like Merig. It’s just been a long time since I brought that side of me out.

(S)Well, it’s good that you can control it as well, but I’m with Kate on it. If you’re not hurting me in that state, then I’m not afraid of it. If anything, I’ll feel protected and safe.

(B)You know my only primary goal is to do just that, so you don’t ever have to worry.

(S)Good, because I trust you with my life and I love you very much.

(B)[smiles] I love you too.

(S)I would like to officially meet your parents sometime.

(B)We might stop by the pub later on and you can meet them.

(S)Alright, but for now, let’s go out into the forest and see all the beautiful autumn colors in the forest.

(B)Of course, let’s go and have some fun.

Sarah's hand wraps around Barth's, pulling him into a joyful sprint as they dash towards the north entrance of the city, leaving the bustle behind. They burst into the forest, surrounded by nature's kaleidoscope of autumn colors. Trees and bushes wear vibrant cloaks of golden amber, fiery crimson, and burnt orange as if set aflame by the fading light. As they wander deeper into the woods, the crunch of leaves beneath their feet serves as a serenade, accompanying their laughter and whispers. Sarah's face radiates delight, her eyes sparkling like diamonds as she clings to Barth, their gazes of affection meet. With a playful grin, Sarah crouches, gathering a handful of leaves. She rises, arms outstretched upward, and releases the colorful cascade into the air. Leaves swirl around them, gently falling onto their faces, heads, and shoulders, getting tangled in Sarah's curls. Sarah's giggles echo through the forest, infectious and carefree. Barth's eyes crinkle at the corners as he smiles, his gaze savoring the beauty of the moment. His hands gently frame Sarah's face, caressing her cheeks with tenderness. Leaning in, his lips brush against hers, a soft, sweet kiss that deepens the connection between them. Barth pulls away, grasping Sarah's hand, and they take off once more, the sound of crunching leaves in unison under their feet. The forest floor blurs beneath them until Barth spots a majestic pile of leaves, a golden trove of autumn's splendor. Sarah's eyes widen, her smile blossoming like a wildflower, as she hurtles toward the leafy haven. With a carefree spirit, she launches herself into the air, landing softly on her back amidst the crunchy pile. Barth follows suit, as he plunges into the leaves, his stomach meeting the soft, rustling surface. As they sit up, side by side, Sarah's giggles fill the air. She scoops up two handfuls of leaves and showers Barth with the colorful foliage, her eyes sparkling with joy. Barth retaliates, sending leaves flying back at Sarah, his face aglow with happiness. Together, they laugh and revel in the simple joy of the moment, rolling and tumbling in the leafy pile as they bask in the warmth of each other's company. As their playful escapade comes to a gentle halt, Barth and Sarah sit together on the leafy mound, their chests rising and falling in unison as they catch their breath. They gaze into each other's eyes, and without a word, Barth's hands cradle Sarah's face, his thumbs tracing the contours of her cheeks. He leans in, his lips brushing against hers in a tender, loving kiss. As they continue, he gently lowers her onto the soft, rustling leaves, his body hovering above hers in a protective, loving gesture. Their kiss deepens, the world around them melting away, leaving only the warmth of their love. Time stands still as they savor the moment, the leaves crunching softly beneath them. Finally, they reluctantly part, their faces flushed, their hearts full. Hand in hand, they rise from the leafy haven, ready to continue their adventure together, the pub's warmth and laughter awaiting them. At the training grounds, Gordo and Emerald continue their fierce sparring session, their movements a blur of speed and agility. Emerald unleashes a flurry of punches and kicks, each strike aimed with precision and power. Gordo dodges and weaves, his reflexes honed to evade the onslaught. In a flash of opportunity, Gordo seizes the chance to counterattack, his fist coiled and ready. With a swift, precise motion, he launches his strike, quickly heading directly toward Emerald's face. Her eyes widen in alarm as she realizes too late to dodge the impending impact. Gordo's fist connects with a resounding thud, landing squarely on her right eye. Emerald recoils, her hand instinctively rising to shield her injured eye. Gordo's face immediately contorts in horror and panic as he hastily halts the sparring session, rushing to assess the damage.

(EM)Ouch, shit, that hurt.

(G)Oh my god, I’m so sorry, Emerald, I didn't mean to hit you!

(EM)It’s fine, I guess I’m not the best at dodging punches. But it’s okay, it was just an accident.

(G)It was an accident I swear, here let me see how it looks.

(EM)...

(G)Oh no, it’s starting to turn colors, I’m really sorry Emerald. I tried so hard to avoid hitting you.

(EM)Gordo, it’s fine, this is where I need training obviously. I told you when it comes to punches, I’m not the best, and apparently I’m not the best at dodging them either.

(G)Are you sure you’re okay?

(EM)I’m fine, nothing a little ice can’t help.

(G)We don’t have ice here, but we can go to the pub and I’m sure Sherry has some.

(EM)It’s fine, I don’t want to make a fuss about it.

(G)Emerald, it’s going to get worse and you’ll eventually have a black eye.

(EM)Calm down, I’m fine. This isn’t the first time I’ve been hit. I’ve fought countless bandits and got pretty beat up before. This is nothing, Gordo. I promise, let’s just go sit in the resting area.

(G)[sigh] At least let me get you some water and a rag.

(EM)[sigh] Fine, let’s go.

As they abandon their sparring session, Gordo and Emerald remove their gloves, the intensity of their training giving way to concern and care. Gordo's hands gently envelop Emerald's arms, guiding her toward the resting area with a tender, supportive touch. Emerald's hand continues to shield her injured eye, her face etched with discomfort. Upon reaching the resting area, Gordo carefully lowers Emerald onto a seat, his movements deliberate and gentle. He swiftly fetches water and a rag, his footsteps urgent with concern. Returning to Emerald's side, he sits beside her, as she uncovers her eye revealing the discoloration surrounding it. With a soothing touch, Gordo wets the rag and hands the water to Emerald, who takes a refreshing drink before Gordo gently cradles her head in his hand. With soft, delicate strokes, he dabs the wet rag against her injured eye, his treatment a testament to his care and concern.

(EM)[wince] Ouch, it stings.

(G)I’m sorry, I just want to try to get the swelling to go down.

(EM)It’s okay, you don’t have to do that.

(G)It’s my doing, so it’s my responsibility to help you.

(EM)[sigh] If you insist, it does seem to be helping with the burning.

(G)Hopefully, it doesn't puff up, I feel terrible, Emerald.

(EM)Don’t, it was an accident, we got a bit carried away, it happens.

(G)Well, while I’m doing this, why don’t you tell me a little about yourself? I’m curious and I kind of want to get to know you a little more.

(EM)Well, I was born and raised here in Tara. My sister runs the produce shop.

(G)Oh Karry, yeah we know her, she’s a sweet woman.

(EM)Yeah everybody loves her, she and I are pretty close. My dad lives in the city as well, I live on my own not too far from the pub.

(G)Are you close with your parents?

(EM)Yeah, my dad owns the produce shop, but my sister kind of took over after he got hurt during one of his transports. He’s a merchant, and he traveled around Uladh to sell things.

(G)I’m sorry to hear that. I hope he’s okay.

(EM)He’s better now, but it did take a toll on his body. He has a permanent limp because of it. He injured his knee, and he hasn’t been the same.

(G)Wait, you said he got hurt transporting goods? Was he attacked by bandits?

(EM)Yeah, it was just a few months ago, earlier this spring. The guards saved him and his stock, but he was hurt pretty badly.

(G)Oh, I know who you’re talking about. Is your dad's name Quinton?

(EM)Yep, that’s him.

(G)I remember Barth told me about it when he started patrolling. I think it was his first day out there. I was still training Cormac and sparring with him. Ash, Larry, and Barth rescued Quinton. He was at the healer for a while.

(EM)Yeah, we visited him every day, and he finally listened to us when we told him he didn’t need to do this work anymore. He was addicted to it and it did make us a good amount of money. But Karry and I were always stuck at home to fend for ourselves.

(G)Where was your mother?

(EM)...I never got the chance to know her. She passed away after she gave birth to me.

(G)Oh, I’m so sorry, Emerald, I didn’t mean to pry.

(EM)It’s fine, that’s the first thing people ask when I tell them about my life here. I blame myself for her death.

(G)It’s not your fault. I’m sure there were some complications that were out of anyone’s control.

(EM)That’s what Dad tells me, he and Karry both do. They never blamed me, but I always wanted that mother figure in my life. Karry kind of filled that role and she took good care of me while Dad traveled.

(G)That’s good. Karry is a wonderful person.

(EM)She is, and Dad’s a good father, don’t get me wrong, I love him to death. I’m sure losing Mom wasn’t easy for him.

(G)Of course not, your family seems wonderful despite what happened. I did meet Quinton, and he was very grateful for Barth and the others when he was attacked.

(EM)He was, and that’s what made me want to be in the guards. Damn, those bandits, I almost lost my father and I hate bandits.

(G)...

(EM)Oh no, it’s nothing against you, I promise.

(G)It’s okay, I’ve formed a disdain for bandits myself. I hated being one and I’m glad I’m no longer living that life.

(EM)Don’t worry, I don’t hate you, Gordo.

(G)I’m glad to hear that.

(EM)I was taking care of Dad after the incident and I told him I would join the guards one day. He said I had to get strong since I’m a woman and the training wouldn’t be easy. That’s when I started training myself in the forest. I was at it for over six months and I tried really hard. I told Merig my story, and he was happy to help me and recruit me.

(G)Yeah, Merig is a good person. He gave me a hard time when I first joined. But I deserved it after what I did and I was lucky he forgave me, but Kate was the first to forgive me. They've been good to me no matter what and I'm thankful they let me in their life. Merig is like a brother to me, and Kate is a sweetheart. What happened to her was terrible. She even had a little box with the ashes of her unborn child.

(EM)That’s so sad, that really breaks my heart. No mother should have to go through that and damn that man to the underworld for what he did. He didn't love her, he just loved hurting her.

(G)Yeah, I had the honor of kicking his ass and it felt good. That bastard is going to rot in prison and I won’t lose a wink of sleep, either.

(EM)I wouldn’t either. People like him don’t deserve to see the light of day. But anyway, my life is kind of boring aside from what I’ve told you.

(G)I don’t think it’s boring. Tragedy happened, and you had a wonderful family to take care of you. Your father worked and traveled to make a living and your sister took care of you while he was away. You’ve trained your skills to fight the bandits that attacked your father and now you’re here to become a Royal Guard so you can help us. Anything else I should know?

(EM)That’s all for now, we should continue with the training.

(G)No, we’re done for today. We need to get you to the healer.

(EM)Don't worry, we can just go to the pub and get some ice like you mentioned. I don’t want to bother the healers over a black eye.

(G)Emerald, it’s fine. They’ll help you better than the ice will. It’s my fault, so the least I can do is take you there on my horse.

(EM)[sigh] Well, I haven’t met Sarah yet, but I know Nessa pretty well.

(G)Sarah is spending the day with Barth. It’ll just be Nessa today. Come on, let’s go see her.

(EM)Alright then, we’ll pay her a visit and see what she can do.

(G)I’ll go grab a horse, wait here.

(EM)Trust me, I’m not going anywhere. It’s hard to see out of this eye, but I’ll stay put.

(G)[chuckles] Alright, I’ll be right back.

Gordo rises from the resting area, his movements purposeful, and strides towards the stable to fetch his horse. His concern for Emerald's well-being propels him forward, eager to seek the healer's expertise. He leads his horse out of the stable and gently assists Emerald onto its back, ensuring her comfort and safety. As they arrive at the healer's quarters, Nessa is engaged in her daily routine, tidying up and making the beds with meticulous care. The door creaks open, and she turns to greet them, a warm smile spreading across her face. However, her expression swiftly shifts to one of concern as she takes in Emerald's condition, her eye shielded by her hand.

(N)Good afternoon, Gordo…and Emerald? Sweetie, why are you holding your eye like that?

(G)Hey, Nessa, sorry about the surprise visit, she’s the newest recruit in the guards.

(N)So you’re the one Merig mentioned, I had no idea it was you. What happened?

(EM)Gordo and I were sparring, and I didn’t dodge quickly enough. Gordo is training me to improve my martial arts skills.

(N)Oh no, you’ve got to be more careful. Come on over here on one of the beds. I’ll take a look at your eye.

Nessa steps forward, her movements gentle and reassuring, and approaches Emerald. She carefully guides her to a nearby bed, her hands supporting her with a tender touch. As they approach, Nessa slowly lowers her onto the bed, ensuring her comfort and ease as Emerald sits down. Nessa then moves to a nearby storage area, her footsteps quiet on the floor. She retrieves ice from a container, a soft rag, and a small bowl of water, her hands moving with the precision of a skilled healer. Returning to Emerald, she sets the items on the bedside table, her eyes never leaving her patient's face. With gentle fingers, Nessa wets the rag, wrings it out, and wraps it around a small piece of the ice, the soft fabric enveloping the cold compress. She then sits down beside Emerald, her touch soothing as she places the cold, wet rag directly onto Emerald's injured eye. Emerald winces, her body tensing momentarily, as the chill of the compress meets her skin, causing her to flinch.

(N)I’m sorry, honey, just bear with me, okay?

(EM)It just stings, that’s all, but the cold does feel good at the same time.

(N)I can tell, it’s all red, and it’s starting to puff up and turn colors.

(G)[sigh] I’m sorry about this, Nessa, I feel terrible, it truly was an accident.

(N)Don’t worry, Gordo, I know you wouldn’t do this on purpose. I know you’re not that kind of person.

(EM)You don’t have to stay here, Gordo.

(G)No, I’m here. This is my doing, so it’s only right that I make sure you’re okay. Besides, we’re done with training today. You can’t continue sparring like this.

(N)He’s right, Emerald, you might need to let yourself heal for a few days, if that’s the case.

(EM)[sigh] I’ve only just started today, I don’t want to miss out on any training. I guess I’m just not cut out to be a guard.

(G)That’s not true. Ash got injured a lot as well from what she told us and she made it just fine. It’s all about practice and training for a reason, to get stronger.

(N)Wasn’t your dad here not too long ago?

(EM)Yeah, he was attacked by those bandits while he was transporting stock.

(N)Quinton, I remember him. He was very cooperative when he was here. You came to visit and took him home. I did everything I could to treat him. Sadly, his injuries were too great, and you all said it forced him to quit being a merchant.

(EM)Yeah, he’s practically retired, and he helps my sister Karry at the produce shop.

(N)I remember you talked about how much you wanted to do something about the bandits and I’m the one that suggested that you join the guards. I remember you visited me a few times when you were training out in the forest.

(EM)It’s a good thing I wasn’t in here every day, or I’d probably end up like my dad. He actually did teach me martial arts when I was younger, but he also traveled a lot, so we didn’t spend too much time together. I figured I would just train myself so it wasn’t a big deal, and now, years later, I just decided to join the guards instead.

(G)Emerald and I were just talking, and I got to know a bit about her. She told me her mother passed away after she was born.

(N)Yes, I was the midwife and helped her mother give birth to her. It was tragic, but Emerald was a healthy baby girl. Bless her father’s heart, he was a single father to her and Karry. I would be the one to give her the monthly checkups. Quinton is a wonderful father to her. I hardly recognized him when he came in after those bandits attacked him. He was here for at least a week before he went home. Karry came to visit as well. Everyone loves her in this city. Her shop is a blessing, and she works hard.

(EM)She does and I help her sometimes. I've been taking care of Dad, but he didn’t want me to be tied down to it. I told him what I wanted to do, and he’s very supportive of it and told me that he’s able to get around on his own. I still worry about him when I’m not there at his house.

(N)You’ve done amazing taking care of your father, Emerald. Keep up the training and I should expect regular visits. Just don’t hurt yourself too bad and be more careful, Gordo, you hear me?

(G)Yes ma’am, again I’m really sorry, Emerald.

(EM)Don’t worry, I know you didn’t mean to. I was just too slow. It just shows that I need more training with someone one-on-one. That was a pretty good punch. By the way, you said your punches are more powerful than kicks.

(G)[chuckles] Yeah, I fight better with my fists, but I’ve gotten better with my kicks. You said you were better at kicking, and I even saw it when I first brought you to the training grounds.

(EM)Yeah, it seems I found my mentor to train with if he’s willing to train me.

(G)Of course, I’ve trained plenty of recruits. You’ll just be the first woman I’ll be training. I feel I need to be a bit more gentle with you.

(EM)Don’t honestly, stuff like this will happen, I’m sure. Don’t feel you have to go easy on me just because I’m a woman. I’m training to be a Royal Guard to fight bandits. I just need to build up strength and get better at my punches.

(G)Don’t worry, I’ll do what I can, but I’ll see what I can do to lessen the risk of hurting you unintentionally.

(N)How’s your eye feeling, sweetheart?

(EM)It’s not burning as bad. How does the swelling look?

(N)Luckily, it’s not to the point where your eye will swell shut. But it may be by tomorrow, so just keep putting ice on it like this until the swelling goes down. Unfortunately, I can’t do anything about it turning colors. You may have a black eye by tomorrow as well. It’ll be at least a week before it goes back to normal. Are you feeling any intense pain?

(EM)Just from the swelling, it burns, but I’ll be okay.

(G)I really do feel like shit, Emerald. I’ll do whatever I have to so I can make up for it.

(EM)Gordo, it’s fine, don’t beat yourself up, I’m not upset with you at all.

(G)[sigh] At least let me do something for you. Let me treat you to lunch at the pub.

(EM)It’s really not a big deal, just like Nessa said. I’ll heal in a week and I'll be okay.

(G)I feel I’ll always feel like shit every time I look at your black eye, like I do now, at least until it heals.

(EM)[sigh] It’s not a big deal, I promise you.

(G)It is to me and I feel it’s my responsibility to fix it. It was never my intention to hurt you.

(EM)...I can tell you’re really torn up about this. You seem hell-bent on making it right.

(G)I swear on my own life that it wasn’t intentional.

(EM)I believe you, Gordo, I really do and I forgive you for it.

(G)I’m glad to hear that. I just wanted to show you how sorry I am.

(EM)...[smiles] If you insist, I can tell you’re sincere. Whatever you feel you need to do to make it up to me, but I don’t think it’s necessary.

(G)I’ll take you to the pub when we leave here. You said you frequent the place, so you know how good Sherry’s food is.

(EM)[giggles] Yeah I do, I am hungry, so you win.

(N)Alright, I tried to get the swelling to go down as much as possible. Do you still feel the burning?

(EM)Not as bad anymore, but once I get back outside, I’m sure the chilly breeze will help it.

(N)Good, just keep putting ice on it like I said and the swelling should go down within a few days. For now, I think you should hold off on your training until it’s healed.

(EM)[sigh] I hope the commander will be okay with that.

(G)He’s usually pretty gracious about it. He’d rather you not be injured while training.

(N)He’s right, Merig cares a lot about the people around him and you’re a new addition to the family they’ve formed.

(G)That’s right, we’ll find some methods to help you train so you don’t get hurt. I probably should’ve talked to Merig about it beforehand rather than take on the task myself and not consider the methods. So that’s why I feel at fault as well, not just the fact that I hit you when I didn’t mean to.

(EM)I probably should’ve thought of it as well and taken into consideration that I’m a woman training with a goblin who’s bigger and stronger than me.

(G)[chuckles] Yeah, I should’ve thought of that as well, sorry.

(EM)Don’t be, I’m the one who told you to just go ahead and spar with me. It was my idea.

(G)I guess we both learned something from this. I’ll be beating myself up for at least until you heal. But I’ll do whatever to make it up to you.

(EM)[sigh] I guess there’s no negotiating with you. Alright, let’s get out of here then.

(N)Alright, you’re all set, Emerald, it was good seeing you again. I’ll give you some eye bandages as well. I hope you’re doing alright, and good luck with training. The Royal Guards will take good care of you, I promise.

(EM)I’m doing fine these days, I’m excited to be a guard. I know it will take time, but I’m determined.

(N)I know you are, sweetheart. If you ever need to talk, I’m here, and Kate and the other women are as well. They’re wonderful people. You will love them when you get to know them more.

(EM)Yeah, I like them already and I think we’re getting along well.

(N)Alright, dear, I’ll see you later.

(EM)Hopefully, it won’t be under these circumstances.

(G)Definitely not. We’ll see you later, Nessa.

(N)Bye, you two.

Emerald rises from the bed, her movements still slightly tender, and joins Gordo as they make their way towards the exit, eager to head to the pub where Gordo plans to treat Emerald to lunch. Meanwhile, in the bustling city, Barth and Sarah saunter through the marketplace, their footsteps light and carefree. Their visit to the magic shop has yielded a few intriguing purchases, and now they're eager to explore the new agriculture shop, drawn by its reputation and the whispers of excitement. As they walk, Sarah's hand remains tucked into the crook of Barth's arm, her face aglow with happiness, and their conversation flows effortlessly.

(S)I had so much fun out in the forest with you.

(B)I had a lot of fun, too. My favorite part is when I kissed you.

(S)[giggles] That was my favorite part, too, and getting to spend time with you for a whole day. I don’t want it to end if I’m being honest.

(B)Oh trust me, I don’t want it to end either. If I had it my way, I’d spend the day with you every day.

(S)Me too, but we technically do spend every day together already. We wake up together every morning and go to sleep together every night.

(B)That is true, you have a point there and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

(S)[smiles] Me either, I’ve gotten quite accustomed to sleeping next to someone. I absolutely love it when you cuddle up to me and I’ll sometimes do the same. It’s very comfortable.

(B)I have to agree, it’s very relaxing and I actually find myself sleeping better.

(S)I’m glad I’m not the only one. I feel refreshed with more energy throughout the day. I guess being with you just helps me get through my day when I’m working.

(B)[smiles] Being with you helps me as well. A lot has changed since we’ve been together and in every positive way possible.

(S)I couldn’t agree more, it’s perfect for me and I don’t regret a thing.

(B)Neither do I, my beautiful rabbit, and I hope you’re happy with me and that I make you happy.

(S)Of course, you do, sweetheart, nothing makes me happier than laying in bed with you each night and waking up in bed with you each morning, cooking breakfast together and having lunch together, and then going home with you and having dinner together.

(B)And then having days off like this where we just spend it together.

(S)Exactly, so yes, I am very happy being with you, my love, and you make me very happy. There isn’t anything about you that hasn’t made me happy.

(B)I’m really glad to hear that, Sarah. I’ll continue doing everything to make you happy.

(S)You are, Barth, and you don’t even have to try. Just be yourself and you don’t have to go above and beyond for me. I’ll be happy just spending time with you, and that means more to me than anything and makes me happier than you can imagine.

(B)Good, I feel the same way.

(S)So do I make you happy as well?

(B)[chuckles] Of course you do, you make me very happy and you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I love you so much, Sarah.

(S)I love you so much too, Barth. I guess I’m just overwhelmed with happiness since this is my first relationship. I hope that doesn’t make you feel overwhelmed in a bad way.

(B)Of course not, I’m glad you’re happy. Be happy and don’t let me stop you because that’s all I want for you.

(S)That’s all I want for you too, sweetheart, now we’re almost at the shop. Did you get everything you wanted from the magic shop?

(B)Yep, just some books to help me learn a few new spells.

(S)Oh, that will be fun, I’m sure Kate will want to learn them as well.

(B)Yeah, I’ll let her read the books too so we can learn together. But I’m sure she’ll be busy with the baby when he’s born, so this is just for future use.

(S)You always have to be prepared, and I’m sure Kate will love to learn a new spell.

(B)Oh she will. She mentioned a couple, and I found the books that will help us learn the spells.

(S)Well, maybe when we’re done at this shop, we can go to the pub for some lunch and show the books to Kate.

(B)That sounds wonderful, gorgeous. Let’s head to the shop, then.

As they continue to wander through the city, Sarah and Barth's conversation flows like a gentle brook. Finally, they arrive at the agriculture shop, a hub of innovation and wonder, and eagerly split up to explore its treasures. Sarah finds herself outside, surrounded by a vibrant display of trinkets and adornments, where Kate had discovered the enchanting full moon earrings and Cormac had found the radiant sunflower hairpin for Deirdre. Sarah's eyes land on a delicate ring featuring a rabbit motif, and her face lights up with delight. She picks it up, her fingers tracing the intricate design, as a soft smile spreads across her face. Lost in the charm of the ring, she's unaware of the stranger approaching her. A strange man with dark hair and refined features, dressed in casual attire stands beside her, with a seemingly warm smile as he gazes down at her, ready to speak.

(SM)Hello there.

(S)Oh, hello.

(SM)How are you?

(S)I’m doing wonderful, and you?

(SM)I’m doing great now since I saw you over here. I couldn’t help but notice you standing here alone, and I had to approach you. What’s a beautiful woman like you doing out here all by herself?

(S)Oh, I’m not alone. I’m actually with someone.

(SM)It’s okay, I can accompany you around the city.

(S)Uh, no thank you, I’m doing just fine. Like I said, I’m with someone.

(SM)That’s a cute ring. Do you like rabbits?

(S)I do, they’re just so cute.

(SM)I see you have a bracelet with a rabbit as well.

(S)Oh yeah, the person I’m with gave it to me.

(SM)You know, you don’t have to lie. I saw you all by yourself over here.

(S)That’s because he’s looking around somewhere else here at the shop.

(SM)And he left you all alone over here?

(S)Well, I’m not alone. As you can see, there are crowds of people, and he’s just inside this shop looking around like I am.

(SM)But he left you out here for some other man to take you away. If he didn’t want another man to whisk you away, he’d be at your side. No smart man would just leave someone as beautiful as you all alone. Why don’t you come with me? I’ll take you away and never leave you alone.

(S)Uh no, I’m not that kind of woman, you can’t just take me away. I’m happy in a relationship and I love him very much.

(SM)Then where is he?

(S)I told you he’s here with me. He’s just looking inside. Now please leave me alone. I know you’re flirting with me.

(SM)Oh, come on, you’re a beautiful woman. You should want men to be surrounding you and fighting over you, and even stealing you away from other men.

(S)No, I told you I’m not that kind of woman, so leave me alone.

(SM)Well, the thing about me is that I don’t take “no” for an answer.

(S)Well sorry about your luck but you are today.

(SM)Listen, I just want to take you on a date.

(S)No, I’m already with someone, I’m not interested. Find some other woman who’s willing to fit your needs.

(SM)But you’re just so gorgeous. I bet your body is even more beautiful and you’re probably really good in bed.

(S)That’s none of your business, and I’ve had enough with you. Leave me alone, goodbye.

(SM)Hey, don’t walk away from me.

In a sudden, shocking move, the man's demeanor darkens as he grasps Sarah's arm with a vice-like grip, yanking her back with brutal force. Sarah's eyes widen in terror as she struggles to break free, her feet scrambling against the ground. The man attempts to drag her away, but Sarah resists, her body tense with fear. Just as all hope seems lost, Sarah lets out a cry for help, calling Barth’s name. The cry reaches his ears, immediately stopping what he's doing, and bursts from the shop's open entrance. His face set in a fierce determination, his gaze snapping to the scene unfolding, and wastes no time. With swift, powerful strides, he closes the distance between them, inserting himself between Sarah and her assailant. With a resolute push, he forces the man to release Sarah, who quickly backs away seeking refuge behind Barth. Barth's anger ignites, his voice thundering as he confronts the man, his words a fierce shield protecting Sarah from harm.

(B)Hey! Hands off of her, asshole, she wants nothing to do with you, so back the hell up!

(RM)Whoa, easy there. Who the hell are you?

(B)She’s with me, jackass, so just go back to wherever you came from.

(RM)Really? You’re the one she’s with? You’re not even with a human.

(S)That’s none of your business. I told you I wasn’t going anywhere with you.

(B)Stay behind me, Sarah, he’s not going to touch you again. I’ll give you another chance to leave or we’re going to have problems.

(RM)There’s no way someone as beautiful as that woman is shacking up with a goblin.

(S)As if there’s something wrong with that?

(B)Do you have a problem with that, buddy? If you do, we can solve it right now the old-fashioned way. But let me tell you, you have no idea who you’re screwing with.

(RM)I have no problem going toe-to-toe with a filthy goblin.

(B)Oh, I see, another human that doesn’t favor Fomors. You’re all dying out, so just accept that we live in a society with you humans these days, or you can just sit and stew about it. We’re in relationships with human women and they seem to love us goblins. My brother is married to a woman who is about to give birth to his child, so be pissed and see if I care. Also, I wouldn’t try tussling with one of the Royal Guards if I were you. That’s a big no-no here in Tara, especially since I’m the captain. Your choice, but either way, you’re not taking my woman anywhere.

(RM)[chuckles] Whatever, you can have that whore, I don’t give a shit.

(B)Hey, watch yourself! This woman is no whore. You’re just mad because she wants nothing to do with you, so you resort to insults. Just accept the fact that you treat women like shit, and you probably have a small penis that can’t satisfy a woman.

(RM)What the hell did you just say to me?!

(B)Hey, all I’m saying is how you treat women is sometimes based on the size of your member. You’re mad because you’re below average and that’s why you feel the need to try to steal women from happy relationships to make yourself feel better.

(S)[snickers] I wouldn’t doubt that, and the joke’s on you. This is my first relationship, so your assumption about me being a whore is inaccurate.

(RM)Wow, you’re a virgin, and you chose this goblin to be your first relationship?

(S)Why not? He treats me a hundred times better than you did, and you only just met me. The flirting was flattering, I’ll give you that, but the way you treated me after I rejected you is just sad, and shows you’re frustrated about it. Well, how about treating women better, and maybe women will want at least something to do with you? If this is how some men treat women, then I’ll be more than happy to lie in bed with this wonderful goblin, who I share a home with, and who treats me with love and decency.

(B)And sadly for you, you can’t just take someone away who doesn’t belong to you. She’s already living with me and we’re actually celebrating such an event together today since we both have the day off. You heard the woman, get out of here, and I don’t want to hear another word or insult to my woman from your pathetic face, or I will remove you myself.

(RM)You’ll pay for this, you filthy Fomor.

Barth's eyes blaze with a fierce inner fire as he takes a menacing step closer to the man, his eyes turning crimson, his gaze piercing like daggers. A devilish grin spreads across his face, followed by a low, ominous growl that rumbles from his throat, sending a shiver down the man's spine. The man's face contorts in horror as he stares into Barth's eyes, his own irises wide with fear. Suddenly, the man's courage crumbles, and he turns to flee, his feet pounding the ground in a frantic bid for escape. Sarah's face is a picture of confusion, her expression uncertain as she watches the man run away. Barth's eyes, now restored to their natural warmth, gleam with a hint of amusement as he turns to Sarah, a sly smirk still playing on his lips. As he gazes down at her, he notices her shaking and approaches, his expression softening. With a gentle touch, he reaches out and envelops her hands in his, raising them to his lips, as they brush against her knuckles in a soothing caress. Sarah's response is a shaky smile, her lips trembling as she meets his gaze.

(B)I’m sorry I didn’t intervene sooner. I shouldn’t have left your side, my rabbit.

(S)It’s not your fault, my love. But what made him run?

(B)...[smirk]

(S)Barth, don’t tell me you scared him with your red eyes.

(B)Guilty, but he wouldn’t leave. It was the only way I could get rid of him.

(S)[sigh] Try not to abuse such power, sweetheart, okay? Situations like this are okay but don’t get carried away.

(B)Of course not, my love, I will only use it for good. Are you hurt, my beautiful rabbit? That wolf didn’t bite you, did he?

(S)He actually did grab my arm pretty hard. I think it left a bruise.

(B)Let me see.

(S)...

(B)[sigh] Yeah it’s bruised, I’ll massage it when we get home okay?

(S)Alright, I’m sorry that happened.

(B)Don’t even think about being sorry. I wasn’t going to let him do anything to you. As soon as I heard my name from you, I came running. I was happy to scare him off.

(S)All the more reason to love you.

(B)[smiles] I love you too, beautiful. Let’s head to the pub, shall we?

(S)[smiles] We shall, but I wanted this ring, so I want to buy it first before we go.

(B)Of course, I’ll buy it. You deserve it after all of that.

(S)[smiles] You don’t have to, but I do appreciate it, my love. Let’s get going then.

With his arm gently wrapped around Sarah's waist, Barth guides her to the checkout to finalize the purchase of her ring. Afterward, they stroll to the pub, eager to join their friends. Upon entering, they're immediately enveloped in the warm atmosphere and lively chatter of the patrons. As they approach the table, the conversation pauses, and all eyes turn to welcome them. As Barth and Sarah settle into the two empty seats beside Kate and Merig, the group's warm energy envelops them. Orla and Merig Senior are seated opposite, their faces beaming with friendly smiles. Ashley and Larry are settled across from them, their eyes sparkling with welcome. Cormac and Deirdre complete the circle, sitting beside Ashley and Larry. At the far ends of the table, Gordo and Emerald sit like bookends, their smiles radiating warmth and inclusivity. The entire group exudes a sense of joy and connection, their faces aglow with genuine happiness as they greet Barth and Sarah.

(K)Good afternoon, you two.

(S)Good afternoon everyone.

(O)Good afternoon, you must be Sarah.

(S)That’s right, Sarah Cromley, it’s wonderful to meet you. You must be Merig and Barth’s parents.

(O)We are, I’m Orla and this is Merig Senior. It’s so lovely to meet you as well, dear.

(Msr)Indeed, we finally get to meet our other son’s beloved. We’ve heard quite a bit about you already. You are a brave and renowned healer in this city, so we’ve been told.

(S)[blush] I just love doing my job, that’s all, nothing more to it.

(B)Nonsense, don’t let her be modest, she’s a hero.

(S)[giggles] I wouldn’t go that far.

(O)We also heard you and Barth are spending the whole day together to celebrate you two sharing a home.

(S)Yes, ma’am, it’s been wonderful living with Barth. He’s so good to me and he spoils me even when I tell him he doesn’t have to.

(O)That’s how Meirg Senior was when we first started dating. He did everything to swoon at me. I was smitten already, but he wanted to show his love and I didn’t mind.

(EM)It’s nice to finally meet you, Sarah. I’m Emerald.

(S)Hello, Emerald, it’s lovely meeting you as well.[gasp] Oh no, what happened to your eye?

(EM)Uh well, I already explained it to the rest of the group, so I don’t mind explaining it to you. Gordo and I were sparring, and I failed to dodge one of his punches. He got me good.

(S)Oh, dear, you have to be more careful. Did you go see Nessa?

(EM)I did. I spent some time there, and she put ice on it to help the burning and swelling. It honestly doesn't hurt as bad as it looks. Gordo didn’t do it on purpose.

(S)Well, I would hope not, are you okay?

(EM)I’ll be alright, it isn’t anything I haven’t endured before. Nessa said it should clear up in just a few days, as long as I ice it every day. Oh, and she also recommended I wait until it heals for me to start training again. I’m sorry, Commander.

(M)Don’t worry about it. Take a few days to let it heal. I would rather you not be injured while you train.

(C)He’s right. It took me a while to heal before getting back into training, and Merig was more than understanding. I know it’s just a black eye, but it’s still serious.

(EM)[sigh] Alright, I was just frustrated because it was only my first day.

(M)Things happen, Emerald, it’s okay.

(K)So have you and Sarah been having fun, Barth?

(B)Yeah actually, we’ve spent all day in the city at the shops and the cafe. We even went out into the forest and jumped into a gigantic pile of leaves and had fun out there.

(K)Oh my goodness, that sounds like fun. I’m living vicariously through you two.

(B)It was fun, and we went to that agriculture shop. We figured we would check it out and see what it was about.

(S)I got this cute little ring, it has a rabbit motif on it, luckily it fits me.

(K)Oh, that’s cute, Sarah, I’m so glad you’re both having fun.

(S)Although we did run into some trouble at the shop before we came here.

(K)What happened?

(S)This man came up to me and started flirting with me. He was trying really hard to get me to leave with him. I told him no, and he just didn’t seem to understand the meaning of the word. I tried walking away, and he grabbed my arm. The bastard bruised it.

(B)I heard Sarah calling for me and I came running. The asshole had a hold of her and I got between them. He thought he was tough with his big mouth, but I shut him up real quick.

(S)It’s true, it made me laugh at the man. Barth implied that he had a small member and that he was mad that he probably couldn’t satisfy a woman.

(M)[snicker] Well damn, big brother, that’s savage.

(B)Hey, he talked shit about Sarah being with a goblin, that’s fair game.

(K)Oh, come on, they need to just get over themselves. Fomors are here and they’re finding love. I even heard another one of the ex-bandits who left the camp met a lovely woman and they’re happy together.

(S)I absolutely love hearing that. The man even called me a “whore” and Barth did not like that at all.

(C)I wouldn’t either. If anyone called Deirdre such a name, they wouldn’t be standing.

(DD)Cormac is pretty protective of me, to begin with. So he said he would be even more protective now that I'm pregnant.

(S)That's right, I heard about that. Congratulations!

(DD)[smiles] Thank you, we're ecstatic. But Cormac wouldn't let anyone insult me.

(M)I’m right there with you, buddy, I don’t let anyone insult Kate and you all know that.

(L)I’m the same way. I almost punched Ash’s ex for calling her such a name.

(Msr)I know the townspeople had some not-so-nice things to say about your mother and I got aggressive with a few.

(M)So how did you get the bastard to back off, Barth?

(B)...[smiles] Let’s just say he nearly pissed himself.

(M)Barth…you didn’t, did you?

(B)Listen, I do it every once in a while just as an intimidation tactic.

(Msr)So you inherited that trait as well, didn’t you?

(B)Yeah, but I’ve only recently started using it again.

(EM)Wait, I’m lost. What did you do?

(M)Well, I don’t know how to explain it, but I’m able to go into this state where I get very angry, and it’s almost like a primordial goblin state. I can tear someone apart, and I’m even a lot stronger in that state.

(EM)Sounds pretty badass.

(B)I can do it as well, I just don’t do it a lot.

(Msr)They both got it from me. I can do it as well, as I explained the other day.

(M)So you showed that asshole your red eyes, huh, big brother?

(B)Yep, he practically pissed himself and ran with his tail between his legs. I’m protective of Sarah, just like you are of Kate.

(M)I think all of us goblins are pretty protective of our women.

(L)That’s true, but I’ve never been able to go into that state.

(C)I haven’t either.

(G)Same here. Maybe it’s just something that some goblins are blessed with and some aren’t.

(Msr)That may be the case, but I’m proud of you both for using it to protect the ones you love and care for.

(B)Of course, that’s the only reason I see the need to use it. That asshole thought he was going to steal my beautiful woman away from me. I showed him just how wrong he was.

(S)[giggles] Those little jabs we made at him were pretty funny.

(B)I mean, if he wanted to act all cocky, he needed to make sure he had one big enough in order for anything he said to be worth a damn.

(L)Barth, you’re just as cocky and you know it. You have no room to talk.

(B)Hey, I stand by what I said. You know exactly what I’m talking about. At least when I’m cocky, I know what I’ve got under my belt, if you catch my drift.

(L)[eye roll] Yeah, yeah, I get you.

(B)You can be cocky too, Larry, so don’t even try that shit. As much as I’ve heard you flirt with Ash, you did it with such confidence that she would hang all over you when you spoke sweet nothings to her.

(L)Hey, I had confidence because I already had this woman in my clutches. There’s a difference between confidence and being cocky. Did you have enough confidence that you would win Sarah’s heart?

(B)Absolutely, and as you can see…my confidence paid off.

(L)Exactly and as you see…my confidence paid off as well. There’s going to be guys out there that will be so sure that he’s going to get a woman, that he doesn’t even bother to know her name. Sarah, did that man even once even ask you your name?

(S)No, as a matter of fact, he didn’t.

(L)Case closed.

(B)I get what you’re saying, I know that especially human men can be insecure if they lack in certain areas. We goblins seem to be more confident than the human men we’ve met, and we’ve been able to swoon our women.

(M)Some of us weren’t so confident, but as time went on and Kate showed signs that she was interested in me, then I was able to build more confidence.

(Msr)I was the same way with your mother. I didn’t think she wanted anything to do with me. I was utterly shocked when she agreed to join me on a date. When we made love for the first time, it was as if that’s what sealed our fate together.

(O)[giggles] I guess there was just something about you that swooned me.[wink]

(B)Mother!

(O)[giggles] Hey, if you can speak about it, so can I. I’m not ashamed to admit the truth. However, it wasn’t the only thing that made me fall in love with your father, but it was a bonus. It was his confidence more than anything that swooned me.

(K)[smiles] Sound familiar, my love?

(M)[chuckles] Yeah, it does. I had confidence I didn’t think I had.

(Msr)I’m proud of you, son, you married this lovely woman and now you’re starting a family. You see how a little confidence goes a long way.

(M)You’re absolutely right, Dad, especially after hearing you and Mom’s love story. Also, Barth, before I forget, do you remember Uncle Barth?

(B)...Yeah, I do. He was Dad’s best friend. I was named after him. What about him?

(M)Mom and Dad said they think he died fighting the townspeople after you and I ran to safety.

(B)Did you both see him after that?

(O)No, honey, we didn’t, and we didn’t hear from him either.

(B)...Merig and I haven’t heard from him either. If that’s the case, the townspeople most likely killed him, those bastards.

(O)We’re sorry, honey, he protected me and your father so that we could escape and get to safety as well.

(B)He’s a hero then.

(Msr)That’s right, son, and you’re his namesake, so you bear the name of a hero.

(B)Well, if he is gone, I hope he’s at peace.

(M)Me too, but let’s live on and be happy. Other than the incident, I’m glad you and Sarah have enjoyed your day together.

(S)[smiles] Absolutely, we wanted to stop here for lunch and then Barth and I were going to spend the rest of the day and the evening at home.

(M)Sounds good, let’s have lunch.

(G)Yeah, I promised Emerald lunch to apologize for what I did. It wasn’t intentional, I swear.

(K)We know it wasn’t, Gordo, things happen, you just have to be more careful.

(G)Of course, oh, and Merig, is there a better way to help her with her punches without causing injury, maybe a safety measure? I know for archers you have training arrows and bolts, and for the swordsman, there’s training swords.

(M)You know what? I think we have something that can help and not cause any harm to anyone using martial arts skills. I’ll see what I can get made for you both for training purposes.

(G)Alright, that sounds good to me. Who else is hungry? I’ll let Sherry know again.

(A)No, let me do it this time, Gordo.

(G)[sigh] Alright, you win.

(A)Alright, let’s eat.

Ashley takes on the role of lunch coordinator, meticulously gathering everyone's orders before relaying them to Sherry, who works her culinary magic in the kitchen. The group savors their meals, enjoying each other's company in the warm, friendly atmosphere of the pub. As the afternoon wears on, Barth and Sarah bid their friends farewell, retreating to the cozy sanctuary of their home. They spend the rest of the day lounging together, their bond growing stronger with each passing moment. As evening falls, they cook a delectable dinner, their culinary collaboration a testament to their harmony. After savoring their food, they settle onto the couch, with Sarah snuggling into the crook of Barth's arm. He showers her with tender affection, his eyes locked on hers as they share a soft, sweet smile. In this tranquil moment, Barth's voice drops to a whisper, his words dripping with sweetness as he speaks to Sarah, his tone a gentle caress.

(B)So did you really have fun today, sweetheart?

(S)Absolutely, I got to spend the whole day with you and now we get to spend the rest of the night together.

(B)Good, I had a lot of fun as well. I'm sorry about earlier.

(S)Why are you sorry?

(B)I shouldn't have been so arrogant in front of you to that man at the shop.

(S)I don't think you were arrogant, I thought it was funny. He was so mad he didn't know what to do, it's almost as if he knew the insults were true. But he deserved what you did and said to him. He was an asshole and he hurt me.

(B)I'm sorry, my rabbit. I asked Sherry for as much ice as it would take to help with the bruising.

(S)It's fine, you were wonderful like always, sweetheart. You scared him away, and all I wanted was for him to leave me alone. He really thought I was just going to leave with him as if I was just a harlot like he hoped I was. I’m quite the opposite, which is why I didn’t understand why he called me a whore.

(B)I know you’re not. He didn’t even know your name, let alone anything about you, so his words mean nothing. But I showed my red eyes when I didn't want to do that in front of you like I said before.

(S)Barth, it's okay, it doesn't scare me, I promise.

(B)Are you sure, you're not upset with me or anything?

(S)No, why should I be? You did nothing wrong, and you did nothing to hurt me. You made that man leave me alone, and you protected me.

(B)My attitude could've been better, though.

(S)I think it was just fine the way you handled it. I'm not upset with you one bit, sweetheart. I think it was very brave of you to stand up to that man.

(B)I'll always stand up to someone who has bad intentions with the woman I love. Who knows what he would've done with you if he succeeded in taking you away from me by force?

(S)I don't either and I don't know if I want to think about that, because that's the only way he would've taken me. I would've never left with him of my own free will.

(B)I know, sweetheart, I know you're not what that man assumed you to be. You're an amazing woman. I love you and your dedication and commitment to this relationship.

(S)Of course, it's because I love you and I don't want to be with anyone else because I only trust you. No one can steal me from you, and I won't leave willingly.

(B)No one can take me from you either. I'll always be with you, Sarah, no matter what.

(S)Good, I love you, Barth.

(B)I love you too, Sarah.

Barth and Sarah's gazes entwine, their eyes lock in a loving embrace. Barth's hand rises, his fingers tracing the gentle curve of Sarah's cheek. They share a tender smile, their hearts beating as one. With his hand cradling her chin, Barth leans in, his lips brushing against Sarah's in a soft, whispery kiss as the world around them melts away. Time stands still as they surrender to the passion of their kisses, their love radiating like a flame. They caress each other, their fingers weaving a tender dance, their love deepening with each passing moment. Finally, Sarah pulls away, her eyes sparkling with adoration, her voice soft and affectionate as she speaks.

(S)You know, we've been together for a while now and we still haven't made love.

(B)That's okay, I don't mind.

(S)But I'm sure it's something you want to do.

(B)Hey, I know I've asked a few times, and you were apprehensive about it. But I didn't pressure or push you to do it, because I figured you weren't ready.

(S)It's not that at all, I do want to, but...

(B)But what? You can tell me anything, sweetheart.

(S)[sigh] Barth, there's something I need to talk to you about, and I hope you don't judge me for it.

(B)I'd never judge you, Sarah. Whatever it is, I'm sure I'll understand.

(S)Well, the truth is...remember when I told you that people would put me down all the time and even the guys avoided me as a teenager?

(B)Yeah, why?

(S)Well, like I’ve also mentioned before, that carried on as I got older. Men just didn't want anything to do with me, and I thought there was something wrong with me. So I've never actually been in a relationship before you, but you already knew that.

(B)I know and I'm sorry you went through that, and I’m here to tell you that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with you. You're so beautiful, and I honestly don't know why any man wouldn't be showering you with my love like I do.

(S)I know and the love you give me is wonderful and I enjoy it, and I also enjoy giving it to you in return. But...there's something else.

(B)Okay, I’m listening.

(S)Well, since I've never been in a relationship...I've never made love with anyone...Barth, I'm still a virgin and it’s embarrassing.

(B)Oh, is that it?

(S)[sigh] I knew you were going to judge me.

(B)Hey, I'm not judging you, I promise. I just already figured as much since you’ve never been with anyone. Why didn't you just talk to me about it?

(S)Because I was scared to, people used to make fun of me for it.

(B)I would never do that, Sarah. I love you and I would never put you down or make you feel inferior for something like that.

(S)That's a relief. Thank you for understanding.

(B)Can I let you in on a little secret too?

(S)What?

(B)I've never made love with anyone either, so by your logic, I'm a virgin, too.

(S)...Really?

(B)Listen, when you're not even human, finding love isn't all that common. At least when I was growing up, the only other human and Fomor relationship I knew of was my parents. This is also my first relationship, and you already knew that because I told you.

(S)Cormac found love and so did Larry and Merig.

(B)That's because humans are more accepting of Fomors these days and they're finding love. Even I found love with you all these years later.

(S)I understand, so we're each other's first relationship. And if we made love, we'd be each other's first love.

(B)That's right, but again, I won't pressure you…Do you want to make love?

(S)I do, I was just worried and I'm also a little scared since it's something I've never experienced before. I’m nervous and I honestly wouldn't know what to do.

(B)[chuckles] Me neither, but it's worth a try.

(S)Do you want to make love?

(B)With you? Absolutely I do. I want to make love to the woman I love.

(S)I'm just so nervous.

(B)I am too. It'll be okay whenever you’re ready. Do you trust me?

(S)Of course, let's go now.

(B)...Now?

(S)Yeah, I want it to be special and since it’s a special day, it’ll be even more special, so let's start now.

(B)Okay, where do you want to do it?

(S)Our room, of course. In our home together. Come on.

A wide smile shines on Sarah's face as she leaps up from the couch, her eyes bright with eagerness and excitement. She takes hold of Barth's hand and urges him to stand. Barth's eyes widen as he stands to his feet, his own gaze filled with wonder and anticipation as Sarah leads him to the stairs. As they reach the upstairs bedroom with hearts racing, they stop suddenly as Sarah turns to face Barth. Her cheerful expression shifts to one of hesitation and nervousness. Her mind races with thoughts and doubts as she looks up at him with sheepish eyes, uncertain of what to do next. Barth gazes down at her with a warm and gentle smile, approaching her and tenderly taking her hands in his. He raises her hands to plant a soft kiss on the back of them, offering reassurance and comfort. A bashful smile blooms on Sarah's face before Barth pulls her closer. His warm hands caress and cradle her cheeks as he tries to soothe any worries she may have. With a soft sigh, he leans in and presses his lips against hers while Sarah reaches down to pull up her dress, smoothly slipping it off her body. The two continue their passionate kissing as Barth wraps his arms around Sarah, carefully unhooking her bra from her back. She pulls it off of herself, discarding it on the floor. Sarah removes her remaining undergarments as well as her shoes, while Barth undresses himself. He quickly removes his shirt, pants, and shoes, tossing them carelessly on the floor near Sarah's clothes. The two continue their passionate kissing, exploring each other's bodies before Sarah stops and pulls away. Looking up at him through shy lashes, Sarah stands in front of Barth, both of them gazing at each other's naked bodies with wide eyes full of desire and longing. Sarah's eyes widen in wonder and nervousness as she takes in his form, but Barth looks at her with tenderness and adoration. He senses her unease, and gently touches her trembling bare arms and shoulders, sending shivers through Sarah's body. She inches closer and opens her arms, wrapping them around his torso. She rests her head with her ear against his chest, closing her eyes as she listens to his heartbeat, reveling in the feeling of being close to him. Barth holds her tightly in a comforting embrace, pressing a sweet kiss to her forehead before she pulls away to meet his gaze once more, with love shining in their eyes. Barth cups her cheeks in his gentle hands again, tenderly gazing into Sarah's loving eyes with a smile on his lips, as they both bask in the warmth and affection between them.

(B)Are you sure you want to do this?

(S)Of course I'm sure, I'm ready to make love with you.

(B)Don't you worry about getting hurt?

(S)[giggles] No, I've been told it hurts at first, but only for a second.

(B)But I don't want to hurt you, even for one second.

(S)Hey, if it means that it will feel good afterward, to me that second of pain will be worth it.

(B)You're shaking, are you nervous?

(S)Of course, I am, but it's okay, it's normal. Are you nervous?

(B)Yeah, I am, but I'm more scared that I won't know what I'm doing.

(S)I've also been told that you just know what to do when the time comes. You just have to figure it out and make the most of it. Remember, it's our first time making love. I want it to be special since it'll be you and me and we love each other so much.

(B)You're right, it will be special since it's with you.

(S)And it'll be special for me since it's with you, I'll very much enjoy it.

(B)So will I, I love you, Sarah.

(S)I love you, too, Barth.

With a gentle touch, Sarah delicately takes hold of Barth's hands and moves them away from her face. She leads him backward, pulling him towards the bed. Glancing behind her to ensure they are heading in the right direction, they eventually reach the bed and come to a stop. Sarah releases Barth's hands and turns to open the blanket before sitting down on the edge of the bed. She positions herself in the center and lies back, propping her head up on the pillows. Her nervousness is evident as she takes a deep breath and smiles at Barth, extending her hand to him with a slight nod, inviting him to join her. Barth returns her smile as he climbs onto the bed and kneels in front of her. Sarah moves her legs and gently pulls them apart as Barth inches closer, sitting on his knees between her thighs before lowering himself over top of her. Their eyes meet and lock in a passionate gaze as Sarah begins to tremble, breathing heavily to the point of hyperventilating. Sensing her unease, Barth places a comforting hand on her cheek, caressing it gently before leaning down to kiss her other cheek. He pulls back slightly to gaze into her timid eyes once more. Sarah takes another deep breath, trying to calm down as she begins to think to herself. She then reaches for Barth's hand and removes it from her face. She guides his hand down and places it on her soft breast, causing Barth's eyes to widen momentarily. She smiles and blushes at him while he looks down at her breast and gently squeezes it. Sarah lets out a soft moan as Barth continues and caresses her upper body with kisses. With closed eyes and soft sighs, Sarah gives in to the sensation. As they continue their intimate moments, Barth eventually makes his way back up Sarah's body until they are face-to-face once again. Without breaking their intense gaze, Barth lowers himself down for more passionate kissing while still caressing Sarah's body. After some time, Barth breaks away from their kisses and looks into Sarah's eyes, silently seeking permission. With a nod and a quiet moan, she lets him know she is ready for him to make love to her. With a gentle touch, Barth grabs hold of one of Sarah's hips and slowly eases himself inside of her, taking care not to cause her any pain. Suddenly, a loud, high-pitched moan escapes Sarah's lips as she quickly covers her mouth in embarrassment, her face immediately turning red. Worried, Barth speaks up in a panicked voice, concerned for Sarah’s physical well-being.

(B)I’m so sorry, Sarah! Are you okay? Did I hurt you?

(S)[giggles] No, it’s okay, Barth, you didn’t hurt me at all. You actually did quite the opposite. I just don’t know why I reacted that way, but I was told that’s normal as well.

(B)[sigh] Alright, but if I’m hurting you at all, please let me know and I’ll stop.

(S)Okay, sweetheart, I promise I will. Just please don’t stop. I trust that you won’t hurt me.

(B)You know that’s not my intention. I want it to be enjoyable for both of us, not just me.

(S)[smiles] I know, you don’t have to explain it, my love. Just make love to me, please.

(B)As you wish, my beautiful rabbit.

The two lovers gaze into each other's eyes, with smiles mirroring the passion and love they feel. Barth lowers himself to Sarah's level, his lips gently brushing against hers. He then trails soft kisses along her neck, causing her to sigh and lean into his touch as Barth's hand finds its way back to her hip. Slowly and carefully, he eases himself inside of her once again, savoring the feeling of making love for the first time. Sarah's moans of pleasure echo throughout the walls of their home as she slowly moves in rhythm with Barth, her eyes locked onto his with a fiery passion. Barth too, expresses his pleasure as he moves with careful ease, never wanting to rush this moment with the woman he loves. Their eyes remain locked in a passionate gaze. They both moan and gasp as they continue making love. Barth's movements become more urgent and fervent as they both near their peak. Barth's lips find their way back to Sarah's, kissing her with an intensity that matches their actions. With every kiss shared and every breath exchanged, their love and desire for each other intensifies. Sarah wraps her arms around Barth's shoulders, holding him close as he holds her tightly against him. Finally, after reaching the pinnacle of ecstasy together, their lovemaking comes to an end. The two are panting and sweating while gazing deeply into each other's eyes. They share smiles filled with love and satisfaction before Barth pulls away slightly. Something catches his eye as he looks down to see blood on both their body's lower regions. Panic sets in once again as he fears he has hurt Sarah and speaks in a frantic voice.

(B)Holy shit, you’re bleeding! I think I did hurt you, Sarah.

(S)Barth, honey, calm down. You didn't hurt me.

(B)Then why is there blood? Is that normal, too?

(S)Actually, yes, it means I'm not a virgin anymore.

(B)Oh, well, I guess that means I'm not a virgin anymore either.

(S)Nope, we lost our virginity to each other, that's what's so special about it. But don’t worry, the blood is only coming from me.

(B)Will you bleed every time we make love?

(S)No, just this once, you broke my hymen, which I only had one, so it’s a one-time thing. It’s practically painless. I didn’t feel a thing…[smiles] other than the pleasure I felt when you made love to me, which I very much enjoyed.

(B)[smiles] That’s good to know. I'd feel bad if I made you bleed each time.

(S)However, I will bleed on my menstrual cycle, though, which already happens because I’m a woman. But it’s not recommended that we make love when those times come.

(B)Oh yeah, I've done my research on that. It's no fun going through it, is it?

(S)No, but it's all a part of being a woman. I've learned to embrace it.

(B)To be honest, I kind of don’t want to stop making love to you.

(S)[smiles] I don’t want you to stop either. Will you make love to me again?

(B)[smiles] Of course I will, but we should probably clean the blood first.

(S)You’re right, we’ll do that and then we’ll continue.

(B)Sounds like the perfect plan.

Barth stands up out of bed and rushes to the bathroom to retrieve something to clean the blood from himself and Sarah. The two then continue making love to each other, and afterward, they lie down while holding each other under the blanket. They look exceptionally happy as they share kisses and caress each other’s bodies before they eventually fall asleep naked while Barth is holding Sarah, ending the fun-filled day.
