Jake had run out after the girl had arrived in front of his base. He grabbed her into a hug and told her everything would be okay over and over. He couldn’t even imagine what the girl must have been feeling over the past few days. Since the awakening of the system seven days had passed. Of those seven days she had spent three to four days alone mourning the death of her parents after being abandoned by the other villagers.

He just couldn’t help himself about hugging the girl. He had been lucky to have very loving parents when they had still been alive and he was raised in such a way that he was always considerate to others. Now he wasn’t some hero type, if it came down to it he would kill or let others die if it meant he could save those he cared about.

But he wasn’t some inhuman monster either. This girl had been through so much and if he was in her place this was what he would need to hear. He would need an adult to just make him feel safe and assure him that everything would be okay. And since the girl was crying her eyes out he felt like this had been the right choice.

When the girl was finally done crying, he let her go only for her to put some distance between them. Jake showed the girl an awkward smile. “Lets get inside and get you cleaned up for now. We can talk after you’ve taken a shower and had a good nights sleep” The girl just nodded at his words, clearly not feeling up to talking and also feeling a bit awkward about what had just happened.

He just motioned for the girl to follow him into his base and he closed the door behind him. Then he ordered 2 scout drones to keep patrolling the area and come warn them if they found anything worth warning him for. As they walked through his base he just told her of how he made the place. The girl just walking with him in silence while he was doing this. Eventually he showed her to what would be his bedroom with his big luxury bed in it. For tonight though it would be her bedroom and he would just sleep on the couch.

Then he showed her to the shower and the washing room. After explaining how everything worked he left her alone and went back to the living room. He had some plans for his new army of 12 scout drones and 3 worker drones. Since 2 of the 12 scout drones would always be scouting the nearby area for any dangers he had 3 worker drones and 10 scout drones to work with.

It was time to start expanding on his hunting grounds. He would start making multiple groups of drones till he had about 4 groups of drones covering four different clearings. This way he could grow his daily gain of mana stones by about four times. And since he would need all the mana he could get to really start getting to work on his base, not to mention his quickly deplenishing rations he quickly got to work.

For now he made three groups, two groups existing out of 4 scout drones and 1 worker drone and his third group existing of 2 scout drones and one worker drone. The 2 scout drones and one worker drone were already at his pre-existing hunting ground. He sent off the other two groups of drones to different clearings that were further than his first hunting ground but still within an hours walking distance.

After he had sent the drones off he went back to storage to grab the leftover mana stones he had leftover for today after summoning his eight scout drones. Now his mana had already regenerated back to 350MP and he still had another 8 minor mana stones leftover for anything he might want to do with them. First he used 300MP to summon 3 more scout drones so he would have the same amount of drones in each of the hunting ground groups. Then he summoned another worker drone and another scout drone. Since he still had to send a worker drone and scout drone combo to check out civilization.

700 MP and 4 mana stones later he had summoned all his drones and sent them all off. He would keep the other four leftover mana stones in his storage to use a different time. For now he just laid back on his couch and watched his worker and scout drone combo that was leaving for civilization on it for a while. After 10 more minutes of watching though it quickly grew boring to watch only forest fly by.

Instead he decided to check out his notifications and status to see if anything had changed. He had killed a-lot of creatures and things today after all.

A few more notifications had come in but he didn’t care much about those since they were all level one. He was kind of sad about seeing he had gained Xp from killing other humans though. He was sure that wouldn’t bode well for the humans in the big cities. There had already been enough criminals and people out for blood even without the system giving out rewards for it.

He could only sigh and shake his head at the thought of people rampaging around killing others. Although if the raiders that had appeared so soon after the system had initialized were anything to go by, pandemonium would have ensued even without the system giving out rewards for kills of the same species.

Moving on he opened his status to see how far along to the next level he was.

It seemed like he would reach level four tomorrow. Although today hadn’t been the best day considering everything he had discovered about humanity,s nature in these trialing times. It seemed like tomorrow things would start looking up again. Plus he wouldn’t be alone anymore either! He had a companion he could talk to and discuss things with now!

He couldn’t help but feel a little bit happy about that. He still felt bad for the girl though and he wouldn’t overwhelm her with all sorts of questions and conversation right away. First he would just make her feel safe and comfortable. Then when they got to know each other a little more he would start trying to rope her into making for plans for the future.

Plans for the future as in what they would do, not anything romance related. He grimaced at the thought of ever getting into a relationship with a girl around 10 years younger than him. No he found even the simple idea of that gross.

Denise felt like this was the best shower she had ever had in her entire life. She had felt all of her stress and sadness just wash off her for a little while. As soon as she left the shower and put on her clothes again she immediately started using mind reading on the man that had just basically saved her.

Even though the man had only done good things so far she just couldn’t stop herself from doubting the man,s intentions. And who could blame her for it really. She had just been betrayed by her entire village a few days ago and had then almost been killed by raiders.

Starting up her skill she just waited in the bathroom for a while, reading the man,s thoughts for a while. And when she was done she felt a wave of relief wash over her. From everything she had just overheard in his mind the man was both very worried about her and about the other people on earth.

She had frowned a bit upon the part of the idea of him and her ever dating though. And she fully agreed upon the mans distaste for even the idea of him dating someone who the man had assumed was around 10 years younger than him. She man had basically affirmed that he would never start a relationship with her.

Not that she minded this, with her newfound trust issues it would take a long time for her to get into a relationship, if she even ever would get into a relationship.

She was kind of amused by how worried the man was about making her feel uncomfortable though. Ever since she had gained the mind reading skill she had only read bad and nasty thoughts. And it was kind of refreshing to see some nice and worried thoughts for a change.

Feeling a-lot more relaxed now that she knew the person she was actually staying with didn’t turn out to be some psychopath in disguise. She walked out of the bathroom and towards the living room where the man was to tell him she was going to bed. She was so tired and introductions or anything else could wait until tomorrow. Plus she felt totally drained after everything that had happened to her today.

Jake quickly looked towards the door of the almost empty livingroom when he heard it swing open. The girl walking towards him, seemingly a bit more relaxed after the shower. “And? how was it? felt amazing right?” He asked her with a bit of a grin on his face. The girl appeared a little surprised at his question but quickly nodded at him, clearly in agreement that his shower was amazing. He grinned to the girl, proud of his work.

He was about to offer the girl she could use his bed for the night and that he would sleep on the couch, when a rumbling noise came from the girl. The girl immediately looked away seemingly a little embarrassed at her stomach rumbling. Jake fell in thought wondering about why she would be embarrassed about her stomach rumbling.

He quickly shot out of it though. “I bet you’re starving after such a day, i’ll go get you some food” The girl just nodded at him before Jake walked towards the storage room to get the last of his rations.

When he returned he gave the girl the rations. The girl just looked at him for a while and then at the food and then at him again. Jake understanding what the girl was thinking quickly said “Dont you worry i,ve already eaten earlier. You just finish that food and then go to sleep alright? We can talk about everything else tomorrow”

The girl just looked at him with a look that made Jake wonder if she knew he had lied about having already eaten for a moment. But quickly shoved that thought aside as he was sure that wasn’t the case.

Turning away from the girl to let her eat in peace he just took back to looking at his Tv to see how a Terror Rabbit was being killed by his drones.
