Howls fill the area, indicating that more dogs will come. The walls are splashed with blood while the street is littered with bodies of both human and monster. Sounds of fighting could also be heard, sharp winds cutting flesh and bursts of fire burning monsters alive as they howl in pain.
"This is just the first day and it's already so chaotic."
Shane attempts to start a conversation but Clyde keeps his mouth shut, his eyes looking here and there to allow him to react quickly if a moster pokes its head out.
"Dude, you still here?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah, it is." Clyde answered but it's clear that his focus is still on his surroundings.
They continue on until the sun has barely kissed the horizon. They then stopped and looked for a place to spend the night and found an unlocked house with a small backyard filled with playground equipment.
They went in and killed the rats inside before they locked the door and covered the windows with thick cloth. They then searched the house of four, indicated by the number of bedrooms and the bodies they found huddled in the basement.
'Poor kids.' Shane thought as he saw the state of their bodies, the boy had an arm missing while the girl had gigantic hole on her chest which looked like was inflicted by a giant rat bite. The parents seemed to have taken their own lives from the looks of things, a precise cut in the wrist.
A shotgun was also on the ground beside the Dad, it looked like it was used as a bat by the markings left on the wooden part.

The room went quiet as Shane stared at them, thinking of what must have happened that caused these people to have met such an end. He then grabbed the gun and left the basement, giving the departed family the space they wanted.
As Shane returned to the living room, he saw Clyde sitting on the sofa, looking dazed as he stared into space.
"Hey, you okay?" Shane asked as he sat down on the other side of the sofa.
"I'm alive, so it's good." Clyde answered, his face worn out as he massaged his temples.
"Did you check upstairs?"
"Yeah, I found some shotgun bullets, other than that, nothing."
Looking at the gun, Shane shook his head. 'The Dad must have forgotten to take the bullets.'
"Did you find food?"
"Yeah, the fridge was filled with it, looked like they were getting ready to clelebrate something."
"Kay. I'll be back in a few minutes"
Shane got up and went towards the kitchen when the dead rats caught his eye. He squated down and observed their fur, most of them looked normal, but one looked like it was reflecting light, like it was made of metal. It also felt tougher than the rest, more durable too.
An idea suddenly popped into his head, but he first needed to try it with the other rats before he moves on with the shiny one.
He pressed his palm on the fur, his mind thinking of leather, leather that came from the rat he has his hands on specifically. His hand glowed for a moment before a rat shaped leather piece appeared in his grasp. The rat before him now no longer has skin, its muscles visible for both Shane and Clyde to see.
Shane was ecstatic for a moment until he felt a sharp pain in his head, which felt like a knife was used to slice it in half.
"Ahhh, fuck that hurts."
The pain eventually faded, but it was then replaced with hunger that he had never felt before in his life. He went to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and ate like he hadn't eaten in a week.
'Looks like I need to eat a lot if I want to do the stuff I have in mind.' Thought Shane as he stuffed his mouth with ice cream and cake.
