My name is Okumura. I am the leader or the acting leader of the magical girl council in the garden. Garden refers to this group of cities named after flowers, there are a total of nine or was it thirteen. Well the number doesn't matter, we are regarded as a big group so we can't let every single magical girl join us.
So who decides the members? Me of course… and her. But she's not here so I am tasked with the boring job of interviewing people. Normally we do this by aspiring talents but that colleague personally recommended someone to me.
“Greetings.” She sat across me, her body resting on a much bigger chair than mine. Additionally not only was she the one seated behind the desk, this room was her office. It was a weird place, telephones were lined across the room and multiple devices and appliances were littered around the room.
This whole situation greatly gave her the authority which I particularly did not like and her face was certainly smug like that prick Justice… but we were currently at an odd number of members after Combat and Shima joined so I might as well consider this.
I slid my finger down my face and locked my fingers together. “Hello, I'm Okumura, please introduce yourself.”
“I am Nakazawa Ryo, the magical girl of Knowledge and I would like to be a member.”
“The magical girl of knowledge?” Hmm lucky one, that's a good title to have. “Is your magic based on the knowledge you have?”
“Kind of?” She nervously scratched the back of head. “It's a little complex, I'm more of an info broker than a fighter.” ‘Not a good match’, I noted down on my small whiteboard. “Well, how many invasions have you ended or helped end?”
“Close to none… I guess.”
“So this knowledge you possess, how would it help us?”
“Well I have a big library of information in my head, I can name the invader’s weakness, history of invasion, past magical girls and their powers. Stuff like that I have deep in my mind.”
“And how do you get this knowledge?”
“I have my secrets.”
“I see.” I caressed my forehead and pushed my hat up. “May I ask again how you think your magic can help us? Additionally, why do you think you can join the council?”
“Well the first step to winning a skirmish is information right? And do you mean why do I want to join?”
“No, I mean why do you feel like you deserve to be a council member? You see our council is only able to accommodate the strongest and I don't know why a person like you deserves a place here.”
“Oh I understand, it wouldn't make much sense as to why a non combatant magical girl like me would join, I mean how would I compare to these legends. Like the legendary, magical girl of love capable of nuking whole cities, the magical girl of justice who is able to wield multiple weapons with extreme speed and strength, the magical girl of time a being bordering the line between fiction and reality. Or maybe what about the money making machine, the magical girl of transport a person that has a monopoly on every vehicle here. Ah of course what about the duo, the unstoppable waves created by the magical girl of abyss and the battlefield of flames brought upon by the magical girl of protection. A lot of names honestly, hey the new recruit was quite strong, the magical girl of combat, even the title alone is fit to be a member of this council.”
“What's your point exactly?”
“Well I'm just saying, isn't something important missing? A person with brains like mine can elevate everything regarding the council to an even higher degree.”
“And in what way exactly?”
“Information of course! I see a lot of flaws in your system, like the mapping, the advertising, and a lot more. I mean come on just let me join, I'll do much better than that other member of yours.”
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
“Which one?” I said, slowly taking a more engaged posture.
“Shima! The one that isn't even a magical girl.”
“Oh you know her? How so?”
“Magic and stuff, I know all about the council, even the past members and their abilities. I got it all jotted down here.” She said, pointing smugly on her head. “And I got even more knowledge relating to stuff outside the council.”
“Well do you perhaps know how our departed member Carnage died?”
“Ummm.” She quickly glanced over to the side of the room and rubbed her thumb while averting my gaze. “Let's see… I reckon she died fighting monsters… I'm not really familiar with this topic.”
“I see.” I got up and flipped my hat onto the table. I shoved the small whiteboard I was holding into it and spun it into my head.”She is on her way to be one… only time and proper guidance can help her mature to be a good magical girl.”
She nodded weakly and stood up as well. “Speaking from experience aren't you?”
“Yeah…” I wiped the small smile forming on my face and began walking towards the door.
“Hey wait! Did I get in?”
“Of course you did, any person personally recommended by the magical girl of Love gets a pass. I was just making sure you're not a pushover.”
“Ah yes, tell her thanks by the way.”
“Or an annoying bully.” I said quietly under my breath before slamming the door shut.

She stood there remaining alone in the room, a wide smile on her face. “I did it!” She pulled the drawer and grabbed hold of a big bottle. She shook the bottle with all her might and flung the cork off, sending a fizzle across the room.
“Yahoo! You can get out of the closet now!” With her loud cheer followed by a yell she paraded around the room. She danced towards the closet door and swung it open seeing nothing but clothes and trash.
“Huh?
A loud crack came from her side. Her window was broken in and a person wearing a pink fluffy dress entered the room. “A cute maiden like me does not deserve treatment like that damp smelly closet.”
She looked almost identical to Nakazawa with her hair length, clothes and face being the difference. She had short hair styled to be as charming as possible and her pupils big and hypnotizing. Her smile was bigger than what a normal person’s mouth could reach and her fingers were shaking heavily.
She strided towards Nakazawa and nicked the bottle off her hands. “A Magical Girl should not be caught with this disgusting object of sin.”
“Well…” she put on an awkward smile as her eyes slowly glanced at her back, trying to escape the gaze of the new girl. “It doesn't hurt to celebrate from time to time.”
“Wrong answer! It will hurt because I'm gonna make it hurt.” She walked towards the window, throwing the bottle out of the room. “Now let's commence the tea party. Congratulations on entering the Magical Girl Council.”
“Yes or course!” Nakazawa bowed sheepishly in front of the girl. “This is a great opportunity for earnings, I will bleed them dry out of money and you will do… do what exactly?”
The girl raised her hands into the air, her fingers touching and cracking the cheerful atmosphere into her own.
“I'll rebirth all of them. All those false idols will be remolded into perfect beings of cuteness. You see little assistant, all girls nowadays are rotten to their cores. They are filled with nothing but this sickness that makes them brutal and barbaric. They fight by any means, not respecting the classics, the girls before them they fought with style and emotion. These false idols are nothing but those monsters, the only difference is they fight for humanity. Look at me, do I not spark a sense of safety and companionship?”
“Huh?” Nakazawa was taken aback by the random question, she had long zoned out after the first 10 seconds of insane ramblings. “Yes of course you do.” She nodded vigorously as memories of the bloodied ground floor from their last fight circled her brain.
“Splendid! I knew you would grasp my innate talent for being a Magical Girl.”
“Ring Ring Ring!”
“Oh is somebody calling?”
“Yeah me, I ordered a little something to get this party started!”
----------------------------------------
“Hello?” I answered my phone quickly, a stupid and annoying name appearing on the screen.”
“Softness! You need to see this! I will send you an image.”
I minimized the call and opened my contacts. One whole notification was plastered on the app. I opened it and was greeted by the image of a small cat with wet fur and a massive tophat.
“Look how pathetic it is! It's you! This cat is you! Hahahaag- ahaha!”
I clicked my tongue and clenched my hand into a fist. “Listen here Justice! I have had enough of your stupid nonstop bi- bztt.”
She hung up…
“Justice you annoying idiot!”
----------------------------------------
“Huh?” The magical girl of Combat faltered for a second. Her smirk shattered and she leaned forward with an angry grimace. “Miss Adrinia! I am not an idiot!”
The girl in front of her let out a sigh and clicked her tongue. “You are an imbecile as simple as that.” The girl laid lazily in, pushing and digging deep into her bean bag chair. She began to yawn, as she tidied up her pajamas.
“No but I mean…” Combat scratched her head and stared blankly at the other girl. “Don't you get diameter by using the pythagorean theorem?”
“No! We’re talking about your chemistry homework aren't we? What does the diameter have to do with the temperature of iodine!”
“Huh?!”
----------------------------------------
“Awoooooo! Five Six Seven 0 Nine~” The magical girl of abyss sang joyfully in front of the karaoke machine, her grip of the microphone slipping slightly from her soft grasp. She swayed from side to side as she carefully sang the song out of tune.
In the back of the room sitting on a comfy leather couch, a girl covered by a suit of iron cheered loudly. She also swayed from side to side as she destructively struck the tambourine in tune to the song.

Two people sat elegantly from each other, taking silent sips from their teacups. One of them, the magical girl of time, was sitting with a somber expression.
She glanced at the other girl, behind her was a garden filled with colorful plants and flowers. “Ha-have you decided?” She said nervously.
The girl placed her cup on the table, gazing into the soul of the magical girl of time. “I have weighed the outcomes and benefits for a long time. After much consideration… I figured this was the correct option.”
Time nodded down and dug her eyes into the ground. She sat there silently with her head down silently, not responding to the decision of her friend.
“I'm leaving now if you have no further comments…”
“I-I understand.’
“Splendid.” The other girl stood up, leaving Time and the serene location all behind. Taking big steps and flying out of the peaceful tea date.
Time raised her head and let out a sigh. The gears in her clothes and the clock hands in her body turned roughly. She gripped the handle of the teacup strongly as she sat alone. All alone at the garden filled with nothing but the sounds of her gears turning.
