Chapter 10: Ring Ring Rang

Chapter 10: Ring Ring Rang

“What makes a Magical Girl a Magical Girl? Personally, a Magical Girl is a title gifted to the greatest heroes of humanity. They are the stars stuck to the horizon, watching over citizens and villains. What about you? What is your idea of a Magical Girl?”

I stood firmly pressed against the door, blocking it and pushing all my weight on it. “Give me some time to think! You can't just ask a question like that in a moment like this.” I gazed around the room, the window behind my desk grabbing my attention.

“Are you not the Magical Girl of knowledge? Can't you understand and learn that I mean no harm.” The door continued to be disturbed by loud banging and pushing. I'm so happy I bought a reinforced door for my office.

Thank you, my impulsive buying past self. The door was struck again, barely moving an inch as my body slowly slid down. “A magical girl is a resourceful person using all her gifts to benefit herself!”

“Doesn't sound very heroic or selfless. A Magical Girl should be a beacon of hope and purity. A person free of corruption and greed.” I rushed to the window and opened it, glancing down from the 4th floor I closed the window.

There is no need to rush, maybe whatever is trying to enter my room will leave before the end of my shift. I took a seat down at my ultra deluxe wooden office chair and began rummaging through my drawer.

“You're really hurting my feelings by not opening this door. Can't you let a rich cute customer inside? I pinky promise to pay you a massive amount of money if you do?”

“Even if you're offering money, I'm not opening that damn door. Don't you dare think I'm a gullible greedy coward of a person!”

“Well, I'm thinking it quite hard that you are one. And I think you should come out of this room and prove me wrong.”

“Well guess what!” I stood up from my table and ran towards the door. “Let me tell you something!” I thrusted my finger towards the door, making a very soft impact. “I'm not a gullible greedy coward! I'm a smart greedy coward!”

The banging on the opposite side of the door stopped upon my loud declaration. To stop this awkward silence from devouring me, I began slamming my hands at the door.

“Did you finally give up! I know you couldn't beat this titanium covered and diamond encrusted door.” I took a couple steps back.

The door was standing there proudly surrounded by rows of telephones on sturdy wooden shelves. I stood silently as an unignorable feeling of anxiety crept up my spine.

I grabbed the family picture frame with a portrait of the original family still inside. Noticing this weapon as probably not the best option, I placed it back on my table and grabbed the vacuum succer 87^6.

Solidifying my will, I grabbed the doorknob and twisted it with the might of my magical girl prowess. I then twisted it again in the correct direction and kicked it open.

“Die!” I swung my vacuum at the ground, shattering it into pieces. “Phew~ nobody is here…”

“CAAAAAW!”

A loud crash manifested in the room, the invader crashed through the window and knocked over my desk and telephones. I took a running motion, not giving a single second to turn around to see my devastated room. I slammed my body into the elevator and rapidly pressed all the buttons inside.

I panicked as the door closed slowly and the monster flew right into the elevator, wrapping its claws into the door and holding it open. The best way to describe the beast was an overgrown humanoid bird with pink feathers covered in dried blood.

“Open up please.” Its eyes dug into me, stabbing me with a feeling of jealousy and fear. I struck my hands at the claws repeatedly, hoping to push it off but the talons remained steadily pushing the door open.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

I whipped out a small flip phone from my pocket and began dialing a number at fast speeds “I didn't want to do this but you left me no choice!” I brought the phone to my ear and waited as it ding repeatedly. The bird swung its feathered arms to the side, fully pushing the door open and charging into me.

The elevator door closed itself and moved down. Bumping and screaming could be heard coming from inside as it lowered itself to the first floor. The door was forcefully cranked open as blood spread to the ground.

“This door is way weaker… Splendid!” The monster spun around, its arms reaching over to the mutilated corpse inside the elevator. The body was raised towards the hungry monster’s sharp beak and with one large bite, it clamp down onto nothing.

The body suddenly disappeared, turning into white static as the telephone began to ring loudly. Silence filled the elevator as the monster gazed at the phone. The monster grabbed onto the phone and launched it away as a being of magic and intellect sprung out of the small screen.

“The magical girl of Knowledge has arrived!” I threw a punch at the bird, my dazzling uniform zooming past the floor. I was wearing a subtle green penguin suit alongside a brown vest and black bowtie.

The bird grabbed onto my punch and twirled me into the wall, my body denting the already rough steel. Its sharp talons extended from its hands and were jammed into the wall as my body melted into static.

I don't like using my magical girl form at all. Whenever I transform into this dapper heroine of knowledge, thousands of ideas and discoveries flood my mind. My brain turns into static goop as millions of data surge inside it, removing me from reality and locking my brain in a scholar’s wonderland.

I reappeared in front of the bird, dropping onto it with my shoes and slamming its head and body to the ground. I slid a couple steps forward, grinding the body of the beast like a skateboard. It then retaliated by swiping its talons at me but just like last time I disappeared into thin air.

It stood up, looking around and sprouting big monstrous wings. “How annoying… I much prefer your role as a comedic coward beforehand.” I appeared in front of the bird throwing a fake out punch before disappearing and attacking it from the back.

Its wings tensed up and deflected my kick, launching me back into the ground. “On second thought, you were the cutest back then when you were helping me as a source of information.”

“A client?” I took a polite pose, putting my hand over my heart. “Excuse me for my unprofessional conduct. The office sends you their deepest condolences.” I raised my hands and put both of them on top of my head. I raised my left leg and stuck out my tongue.

“But I don't.” I pulled out a telephone and a book out of my head and slammed them both at the birdie’s head. “Your head will be a trophy in my room.”

“Brute!” My stomach was slashed by sharp talons, ripping my suit and flesh roughly. However I continued bashing the birdie’s head in, hammering it with my bloodied book and telephone.

The bird flew back, its head mushed and beaten. With barely opened eyes, its hands wiped the blood of its eyes and glared at me. “As expected, under all that intelligence, you would just be an unfit barbarian.”

“I'll teach you a proper lesson! Magical Girls should be cute and elegant. You might look graceful but you act like an imbecile. And about that intelligence of yours! It's not cute! Being aloof and dumb as rocks is a lot cuter!”

“You sound like a dying pig. End your miserable life.” I responded without a thought inside my head.

“What?” The bird sped into the air, launching several massive feathers towards me. The feathers flew at me aiming at where I was. I took a couple steps forward, dispersing into air before appearing right behind the bird and slamming the book into its head.

Little birdie let out a screech and turned around, slashing at me. I shove the telephone at the attack, letting it ring and explode at the birdie's talons.

I pulled back my burnt hand and slammed my book at the recoiling birdie. The ugly smelly monster was knocked a couple feet back, colliding with the wall. As thousands of ideas and knowledge exploded into my mind, I stood there smiling unable to understand anything.

Feathers spun around me, stabbing into my back as I knocked some of them to the ground. “You're quite hurt. As expected. You really aren't fit as a Magical Girl. You can't fight with that instinct driven mind of yours.”

“Nobody loves you! You don't have any family! Your parents disowned you! You have no friends!”

“Shut up! I will rip that annoying mouth of yours with my own two claws.” The bird filled with rage jumped and spun in the air, launching multiple feathers around the room.

I threw the book down to the floor and disappeared for the final time. The feathers spun like a tornado ripping the space where I was standing. The floor was repeatedly embedded with feathers as the feathers sharply pierced the marble flooring and wool carpet.

I appeared on top of the birdie and grabbed onto its head with my arms. Digging deep into the bird’s eyeballs as it slash and ripped my body to pieces. I pulled off the birdie’s wonderful pupil as the thought of pain or life failed to cross my mind.

My insides were ripped apart as I continued to punch and dig into the head of the birdie. “Your eyes are grotesque and cute.” The bird pecked my head repeatedly as I tried to obtain the gems hidden inside the birdie's brain. “With that type of money, I can order a new body.”

“Aaaahhhh!” My eyes sprung open as I awoken with a brand new body made of theories, ideas and all that magical bullshit. I ran out of the elevator, immediately seeing the injured monster devouring my magical girl body.

I began to dial my phone, putting it in my ear as it ran quietly. A dry and pained voice answered my call. “Hello.”

“How the hell did you lose?” I began moving away as the bird continued to devour my deceased corpse. There was no way I could go through the front door so I was left with the only option of taking the stairs and hiding above.

“Did you not use any magic on the monster? Like seriously? Just vaporize it using your mind… Knowledge beam or something.”

“Hmmm… The birdie was smelly. It reeks of a smell like yours.”

I hung up the phone and rushed up the chairs. This whole event was super bad for my finances. This ugly overgrown avian is gonna force me to move out of this building and to hide my identity for a while. When did monsters get this smart? They even know I'm the magical girl of knowledge.

I would say damn it all. “But!” I stopped in the middle of the stairs and leaned into the handrails. “I smell money!” With this new fresh information and all those yet to be processed data I got earlier then I can earn all the big bucks.

“Gold will pour down any moment now!”

“Is that so?” A sweat fell down my face as I turned around at quick speeds. A mirrored version of myself stood in front of me. No, not a mirrored version. It was like staring at an imperfect reflection. Eyes a little too big, a smile that's wider than normal, hair styled a little more messy than usual, a relaxed cutesy posture.

Wearing the uniform of my magical girl form I came face to face with an impostor. “I have a question? As the Magical Girl of Knowledge, you must know a lot about magical girls?”

“Ye-yehm, yeah.”

“Then how about a team up! Every good Magical Girl needs a sidekick.”

I nodded silently as the impostor grabbed ahold of my hand and led me down the stairs.
