Book 4 Chapter 59: Eternal and Sir Ironskin's Challenge

"Fingers crossed that something like this can exist on Altros..." Lone quietly said to himself as he filled his mind with his desired creation.

Item does not exist on Altros, however, there are many similar items to it and it is possible for it to exist on Altros without the host's Creation Magic. 15,000,000 MP has been consumed to compensate for the difference.

The host has a good understanding of the item but does not know anything regarding how to make it indestructible and permanently reusable. 35,000,000 base MP cost. 20,000,000 additional MP has been consumed to compensate for the lack of knowledge.

The host possesses insufficient MP. The host's MP will be sealed for [24 hours] to create the item: Eternal Mana Crystal.

Congratulations! The host's passive skill [Mental Pain Resistance] has levelled up! It is now Master Level 4.

Lone's face cramped up as a fist-sized and perfectly see-through icosahedron materialised in his hand.

He quickly put the thing down on the sofa and leaned over while he cradled his head in both of his hands. "Motherfucker! Maybe I should have used my mana orbs too just to lessen this fuckin' pain?! Jesus-fucking-christ!"

"Potty mouth..." Soph mumbled as she woke up and rubbed her eyes. Lone's thrashing around had woken the girl up from her nap, but as soon as she saw how much pain her lover and future husband was in, her eyes snapped open wide and her face was painted with worry. "L-Lone?! W-What's wrong?!"

Lone leaned over and wrapped his arms around Soph. "I created an item, and I didn't have enough mana to do it, so comfort me, 'kay? It feels like a fire-alarm is ringing inside of my head. It's not very pleasant."

"Ah, oh, um, o-okay." Soph was a bit embarrassed to be cuddled so suddenly, especially since Lone was burying his face in the nape of her neck, but she quickly got over her initial bashfulness and wrapped her arms around Lone's neck and gave herself fully to his embrace.

"Ahh, much better. I can already feel the pain fading..." Lone mumbled before he batted his new creation off of the sofa and then laid down on top of it with Soph on top of him.

"Um, was that the new item? I-Is it okay to be so... uh, rough with it?" Soph asked as she watched the many-sided ball roll around on the ground and lightly smack the edge of one of the coffee table's legs before it stopped moving.

Lone just closed his eyes and said, "Look at it with Clicker's power."

"Oh? Um, okay," Soph replied then did as she was told.

[Unnamed] Eternal Mana Crystal Description

Created by the infamous foxkin, Lone Immortus, with unidentifiable magic. Normally, a godly-level of understanding in mana and an almost impossibly perfect raw Elphodicmalondal Stone would be required to create this item.

This Eternal Mana Crystal was designed with the purpose of being an endless and unbreakable storage bank for mana.

Rank Mythic Stats Durability: ∞ Weight: 1 Abilities Can store up to 200,000,000 MP. Anyone may deposit energy into it, but only those that the creator [Lone Immortus] personally allows may withdraw MP from it. Listed users: Lone Immortus. Will automatically return to the owner's side if the owner (currently [Lone Immortus]) is more than 1-mile away from it. Will accept any type of energy, but all forms of energy inserted into it will be converted into MP and cannot be restored to their previous energy type.

"W-Wow..." Soph was left speechless. It wasn't until a few seconds had passed that she smiled excitedly and kissed Lone on the cheek. "You did it! You've wanted to make a mana orb that doesn't break and that has a huge storage limit for ages!"

Lone grinned as he grit his teeth and endured the pain he was experiencing. "Seeing you so proud of me makes it worth it. I was honestly a bit worried that my understanding would be too shallow and that either it wouldn't be created or my mana organs would be sealed for far longer than just a day. Well, that and I was half expecting it to be impossible to make it."

As Lone and Soph discussed the orb and slowly got more and more lovely-dovey, Breena held her chin and cocked her head to one side. 'I wonder, if that was attached to a staff and acted as its head, how powerful would the staff become? Would it be able to amplify your spells and allow you to directly pump the stored MP into them?'

That was a dangerous thought, and a useless one for right now, so Breena kept it to herself, but she promised to share it with Lone at a more... opportune moment. For now, however, she decided to leave the suite in consideration of her masters.

Were it her choice, she would sink into their shadows, but she'd been banned from doing so, so she instead returned to Eolande's room since they were now sharing a diamond suite.

----------------------------------------

"What an interesting item... To think it was possible for such a thing to even exist..." Eolande said in awe towards the Eternal Mana Crystal as she and the other Wanderers were crossing the bridge to The Academy once again.

Lone smirked as he played with the icosahedron. "Well, realistically, it's only theoretically possible. I doubt there's even enough Elphodicmalondal Stone on the entire planet to recreate this, let alone perfect and entirely pure Elphodicmalondal Stone."

Eolande shook her head in defeat as she smiled softly. "As ever, you never fail to amaze me with your absurd skills, Lone."

Soph nodded happily in response to Eolande using Lone's name without needing to be glared at first. The Edler Tylwyth Teg was making progress. 'I feel way more comfortable when she treats him more like a friend. I don't think I can accept her, after all... Nor do you need to, Soph. We are more than enough to love him and make him happy... Huh? I thought you were in favour of her becoming Lone's lover?... No. We were neutral, but we lean further towards keeping him all to ourselves... I see...'

Unaware of the girl's internal conversation, Swind commented on the now slightly blue orb. "So it gets darker and darker as it takes in energy? To think that it can convert even World Force into Mana Points..."

Lone nodded. "Yeah. By the way, Swind, I'm sick of the lack of progress I'm making in my soul oracle skills, so I'm gonna work hard on filling this bad boy up then I'll make a tool to help me assist Sophie move her soul and to heal Rachel. Well, if Soul Rooting doesn't become something more useful when it evolves. If it evolves."

The Lemurian's eyes opened wide at that. "I-Is that true, M-Mr Immortus?" he asked in a rare moment of agitation.

Lone grinned. "Yup, so I'll be relying on you giving me all of your World Force every day, 'kay? You'll need your Mana Points for your classes, and you have so few, so I don't need 'em."

"I will gladly help you, Mr Immortus!" Swind excitedly said then immediately emptied his entire pool of World Force into the crystal.

Lone chuckled. "It's good to see you so motivated for a change. By the way, I'm gonna make an effort to reach master-level-10 with Soul Rooting and evolve it, but yeah, don't get your hopes up in that regard. Like I said, it's totally possible that the skill won't evolve. I also still intend to experiment with possible subskills and new skills, but that will take a lot of animal and/or monster test subjects to do, which means a lot of time."

"I am more than willing to assist you in any manner that I possibly can, Mr Immortus." This was the most lively that Swind had ever been since he had woken up with his new body over a month ago, and quite honestly, it helped relieve everyone a little bit.

"Me too. I can spare a lot of my MP every day, obviously," Eolande said as she smiled arrogantly.

"I-I can give even more than her, and I have a bit of World Force too," Soph mumbled.

Breena lowered her head in embarrassment as she whispered. "My SP and MP are yours, Master."

Lone smiled from ear-to-ear. "And I'll be pouring Divine Power, Mana Points, Stamina Points, and World Force into it. It's a damned shame that it doesn't accept Life Points. Who'd have thought that Life Points weren't classified as an energy source, huh?"

Eolande grinned devilishly. "Were that the case, we could have simply grafted it onto Soph's body and let it suck her dry every day. Being immortal and what not would make that a very simple affair."

Lone sighed and shook his head. "That sounds almost parasitic..."

The group discussed the subject for a few more minutes until they finally met up with Teacher Rax and the three other freshmen again.

Immediately, they were all led to their first classes and promptly split up.

----------------------------------------

Lone was dropped off at a small outdoor arena. From the tour yesterday, Lone was aware that The Academy had almost a thousand of these arenas all tucked away into subspaces created by the teachers that specialised in space and gravity magic.

The one that Lone was now at had 15 young men and woman - all human - patiently standing on one end of the arena while a tall and stocky man - also a human - was at the centre of the arena with his arms crosses. He had a giant slab of gold ore behind him that probably weighed at least a ton.

Turning to Lone, the man said, "So you're Lone Immortus, huh? I'm your metal magic teacher, Sir Ironskin. No, that's not my real name, it's just my title from my adventuring days, but call me it regardless."

Lone smiled. "A fellow adventurer? It's nice to meet you, and I look forward to learning under your care, Sir Ironskin."

A surprised look flashed around the man's face. "So you know how to be polite? I heard about how insolent you were during the acceptance test. Well, you learn something new every day. Anyway, can you tell me why you chose this class? From what I know, you have no affinity for metal magic."

Lone smiled a bit sheepishly as he scratched the back of his head. "Well, let's just say that I'll absolutely have an affinity of 100% in it by the end of the day if all goes well."

Not only Sir Ironskin, but all of the 15 students showed their displeasure at that confident claim of Lone's.

One such young woman stepped forward and pointed a finger right at Lone's face. "Don't be so arrogant! J-Just because you're incredibly handsome and talented, that doesn't mean that you can just learn any mwagic that you want to!"

The girl's face turned beat-red after she bit her tongue midway through and flubbed her words.

'Heh... That was kinda cute. Well, she didn't attack for me my species, so she's probably just a bit upset at how I'm basically disrespecting their effort without having anything to show for it.' Lone nodded. "I understand why you'd be frustrated. I'm sorry if I upset you, and I'll be more careful with my words in the future, 'kay?"

Seeing that he wasn't going to make fun of her for her flub, the girl retracted her pointed arm and slowly nodded. "T-Thanks."

Sir Ironskin, on the other hand, was smiling deeply. "While Sasha may have forgiven you, I certainly have not. Lone, if you do not show me at least a single metal magic skill by the end of our lesson, then you will be removed from the class and your grades will be affected poorly. I'd appreciate it if you didn't look down on metal magic."

'Well, shit. That's a problem. My MP's still sealed for the next 12-hours... Hmm... You got yourself into this mess, you idiot, so let's got yourself out of it, huh?' Lone accepted the professor's challenge and began thinking about how he'd accomplish it.
