Here we go, the third most popular race. Considering we only have six races to choose, that does not mean much. Still, it is an accomplishment, I guess.

These undeads are mostly humans who were affected by some weird magical plague unleashed around the time the orcs broke free of their demonic influences. Some of them were already dead due to the orcish rampage before that and got risen up as well. While the rest came from the expedition from Ishunda to drive out the orcs and got infected.

I could not believe my deskmate's story at first. It is really baffling to think someone would just send an entire expedition to a place where there were rumours of undeads. They really need to watch some of those zombie movies.

Funnily enough, it was the combined efforts of the orcs and rakhs that triggered the weakening of demon influence on these undeads, which in turn made them able to break free and gain their free will. As much as any free will an NPC could have, though.

Owh my, rambling, are we not? Let us get back to the gameplay aspects.

The plague ones' passive are somewhat like a twisted take on the human race. [March of the Dead] reduces any slowing effect on them by 20%, a massive boost but only for one type of disabling effect which is rather fair. On the other hand [Unplagued Will] reduces the effect of healing items but increases their mana or energy regeneration and capacity. What sets them apart from other races is that they do not have weapon specific passive but are blessed with [Mementos of Past Life] that gives them an additional item slot called memento. This item could be enhanced with gems and, well… enhancement, for various effects that grew in power along with the character.

Yes, mementos are one of the main reasons why these undeads are rather popular.

Unfortunately they had really limited class choices. Hunters and warriors are a no go due to something about these undeads having no necessary strength to wield heavier weapons, or something about that. Also they tend to have less strength growth at the start and, just like humans, have better intelligence growth. Though they upped it one bit with bigger capacity.

Their warlocks received the [Vengeful Ambitions] passive which increases the secondary effect of their spells. Meanwhile, [Forgotten Ways of Old] enables their wizards to have more mana regeneration during combat. But wait, there is more. They can actually deactivate this bonus to gain spell power. Yaaay for brokenly overpowered ability. Tch….

[Plight of the Believers] enables their priest to cut their own HP to empower their spells. My… look at how edgy that part is. Makes me wonder why Eggi did not take this race and class combination. Other than avenger of course.

Their rogues got a rather simple passive named [Tainted Blades] that, as its name implies, increases the poison and bleed effect done by them. It is pretty clear what kind of build would an undead rogue go with.

Finally, [Unending Faith] gave their avengers reduced damage taken whenever they are affected by crowd control abilities or debuffs. Naturally, the damage taken is less when they are affected by crowd control. However, the bonuses are counted separately for debuff and crowd control which would make them especially tanky if they are slowed and given another debuff. Good luck trying to kill a slowed and burned avenger.

Geez... talk about being an overpowered tank.
