Imagine trying to be handsome, just to hit on some girls. Yes, those are the stereotypical kind of people who pick this class. A lot of them are annoying, really.
I mean, duh, if you pick elven race and empower your physique with some holy light and a gleaming set of armour, you would definitely look better than you are supposed to be. I cannot really blame people if they want to look prettier. It is just that, it gets annoying when they act like the hottest stuff in Zurefgar.

Back to the main topic, I do have the impression that tempest paladin is a much simpler class to play. They do not need to care much about positioning, nor team mates. They focus more on attacking and buffing themselves.
They have five choices of paths. Similar to their guardian counterpart, they have the Consecration path for offensive holy spells. Righteousness focuses on the self buff element that made them better as bruisers, Purging focuses on physical offence, and Radiance combines holy and pure magic to obliterate their opponents.
The most amusing part is their healing-focused path is named Redemption. Unlike guardian paladin healers, tempest paladin healers meddle a lot with buff and usage of pure energy to periodically heal. On the surface, it might sound like a good idea to make them a backup healer. However, in practice, this path is often taken for the more bruiser-oriented tempest paladins because it helps them survive longer during fights.
Talk about being selfish. Hmmph.
