CHAPTER 26. HISTORY OR MYTH

CHAPTER 26. HISTORY OR MYTH

The pair of elf siblings and two humans were inside the academy campus now. They said goodbye to each other and left to do whatever they wanted to do. It was still not completely dark yet.

Leon and Jasmine left together somewhere. Jasper had already disappeared the second they said bye. Now it was just Darrick so he headed towards his room as he had to check something about the system from what he got yesterday.

When he reached his room what he did first was to freshen up and only then did he open the system panel to check anything peculiar. He opened his profile as the timer started ticking down.

"System show me my profile."

Profile:

Name: Darrick Vental (unknown)

Title: Emissary of creation(unknown)

HP: 110

Dexterity: 17

Intelligence: 12

Alchemy sigil: None

ME sigil: Unknown

It updated my spell sigil section, at least it knows what changed. Now I just have to put those two stat points somewhere. I think it's obvious but still..

He looked at it with utmost concentration, read the stats again and made his final decision.

Up to twenty. I should strive for balanced growth of up to twenty points in every stat. So strength and stamina it is. Can't go much wrong with this. For reference I haven't even played many games, I only read about some quirky protagonist putting everything in one stat and still somehow making it all work.

He taped on the strength in his profile, a plus mark appeared in front of it and he increased it by one then did the same thing with stamina. He looked at the profile, now the strength and stamina stat numbers were missing. In place of it, there was something else was written, it was written as processing.

Darrick expected a bust of strength and his muscle mass visibly increasing, he was even ready for the pain. Artificial muscle building wouldn't be without pain so he even bought some painkillers to lessen the pain of it but there was nothing, not even a slight inconvenience.

"That's just underwhelming," said Darrick as he took out the blueprints he bought to study from the inventory. For some reason, a blueprint was considered a magic engineering material. Maybe it was kind of obvious.

Darrick was running at the dawn. The stadium had a track of one km, he was already done with nine laps and this was his tenth.

Is this the work of stat points? Six laps were my max yesterday and now I'm running the tenth lap effortlessly. This feels like cheating. I'll run five more laps before I hit the gym, I have to measure how much strength increased.

In just above half an hour or so he was done with fifteen laps and he was only a bit tired. Next was the gym. Yesterday the best he could lift was ninety kg but today it was bound to be more than that. The question was by how much more.

After light warmups, Darrick started lifting eighty kilograms. It was easy, not even a bit of a problem. Then he gradually increased the weight to ninety, then hundred, hundred and five, hundred and ten, hundred and fifteen. At hundred and fifteen it was starting to be challenging but was not impossible.

One twenty-five. It was the best he could do right now. He was so concentrated on lifting that he didn't even notice other gym members staring at him. When placed the bar down and straightened up they cheered and one buff guy came to him.

"That's awesome dude! A few days ago I saw you lifting to ninety with struggle but now you are going for one twenty-five. This is one of the best developments I have seen in this gym. Keep up the good work." Said the guy as he gave a dab.

Many more gym guys came and dabbed with him. Some asked how he did it and some said how they did it back then but the gym mood was absolutely brightened up from a single guy.

***

Today was his first history class. He was anticipating it, unlike geography which he started hating as soon as he was clear in his head. To learn something new from the class Darrick hadn't touched a single history book in the past week. So his excitement was retained.

Darrick wasn't late but he wasn't so early that there was no one in the class. He chose a place where a lot of students weren't there and sat, he was solving some maths problems even though Professor Kurt was absent so he had chosen a place a bit quieter than others. Unfortunately, he was rewarded with a blabber mouth who found him and sat beside him.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

"Hey bro, how are you? Why are you sitting here where there aren't many people? You should socialize a bit."

"I would love to but these maths problems I found somewhere interested me so I was occupied with that."

"That's a tricky one but it has a simple method to solve. You should do this first instead of..."

The problem was solved. The guy also taught him something new.

"This awesome, I'm Darrick by the way."

"Milo. Nice to meet you, Darrick. What other classes are you in? I haven't seen you in any of the classes to which I go."

"I had spell craft and magic sig-"

"You are from the magic department, then why are you here? Usually, I haven't seen any aspiring mages in history class wasting their time. Is there anything particular for you to be here?"

"Nothing like that. I just wanted to so I took it."

"That's awesome! The decisiveness to choose what you want. I wish I had that, I can only choose the necessary subjects for my career. I plan to make a lot of money."

"Money is good. I also plan to do the same."

Then a professor entered the classroom. She was a young professor, she didn't look much older than them in appearance. Maybe she was someone who completed her studies early or she was an old hag who was wearing a human skin mask although it didn't matter at all.

Would there be anyone here who was wearing human skin and was secretly something else? With someone like Professor Zelkrat and the Principal protecting this academy, they would be in jail right away. What an absurd thing to think about in the middle of the class.

Darrick shook off his thought as he listened to the professor.

"Good morning students. This is a history class and I hope everyone here wants to learn more about it. I'll introduce myself then we can start the class with something basic and a very debated topic of the history."

"I'm Selena Kells. I will be teaching you history for the whole year so look forward to it. With that being said we will dive into the topic right away without wasting any more time."

"I want to start the class with this question which we are going discuss more about in detail in future classes for now it would be like an introduction to you."

She wrote 'Beginning of the world' on the board. Her handwriting was very beautiful unlike Professor Lana, whose looked like some crooked scribbles waiting to be deciphered.

"Beginning of the world. If you have studied history even for a little bit you must have come across this. As I said before this is one of the most discussed topics of history. This topic is so important that this not only comes in our Humanities section debate but also the Science and Magic section."

"Although they focus on a different side of this, at the end of the day all that matters is it's very important. In this class, we will only look at it from the perspective of history so let us begin."

She raised the book she had brought with her and showed it to everyone then said,

"What I have in my hand is one of the only copies of a few books from the Dark Age. We don't have many records left of what happened two thousand years ago or anything before it. This book says the time before the dark age was very prosperous and it was a paradise but whatever it is telling is mostly unfound. There is almost no evidence to make a concrete decision, so we searched for whatever we could find and then we found a ruin of a temple."

Looking at the class some knew and some didn't about this dark age and whatever that book was, naturally he was the one of those who didn't know. It could have been a secret of some kind or someone's private research.

"This is all publicly available knowledge but it doesn't reach all the places so this may look like a hidden truth, can you guess whose temple it was class?"

Professor Selena asked while smiling. Some raised their hand but it wasn't many, as the professor said knowledge travelled very slowly here. She chose a girl who had raised her hand.

"It was the temple of the primordial emperor. The whole temple was made of unidentifiable and unbreakable material and it was the place where we found the first truth of the beginning."

"Very good, excellent. As she said that was the first intact building we found from old age. The materials it was made up of are indestructible, it was found when mining for the orichalcum. Inside there were many statues and writings from unknown languages. There was only one paragraph we were able to read because it was magical."

"It showed people the paragraph in their preferred language and the paragraph written there was what we call the first truth of the beginning even though there are so many scholars and such who don't want to agree with it. Do you want to hear about what it said?"

Some said yes loudly, some said quietly and some sat silently but there wasn't anyone who said no so Professor Selena started reciting it word by word.

"The true beginning. In the primal chaos floated the one, he with no beginning, no end and no purpose. It was not enough, it was never enough. He took three steps to mark the true beginning. He held the primal chaos in his firm grip and tore it apart in six pieces. It was not enough, it was empty."

"He tore out his eyes, one was the light, one was the darkness. His hands held the six pieces apart. His legs walked to keep everything in motion. His consciousness became governance and his soul became the one to keep the world from desolation. it was not enough, it was still empty."

"His heart grew out to be a tree connected all six pieces together while keeping them apart. It bought everything with it, everything the one had. He would never be lonely ever again, not until the true end."

"The primordial emperor will never be alone until the six remnants of his being in the world. The King, The Lord, The Sovereign, The Monarch, The Ruler, The Emissary."

The last word sent a chill down his spine. The Emissary. It was a word deeply related to him but he didn't know if his title and this title are related.

Oh, fuck it, who am I even kidding? I know it is related and so what? Nothing I could do.

"Those were the only things we ever found. They may sound weird and absurd but it was written in a different language after all so there are bound to be gaps in the translations. There are still many scholars trying to decipher what is written there other than this but we had no luck with it."

"From what we could infer from this, there was a being called primordial emperor who created the world in chaos by sacrificing himself. We don't know if there could be such a being in this world but one thing we could confirm was the titles that were passed down."

"We have confirmed three beings with this but they are also missing currently or you can say we don't know where they are."

"So basically you are saying we don't know anything other than this writing about the world's beginning, that means it's our turn to find out, right?" Said Milo as he shifted in his seat. The confidence to say out loud such corny comments was certainly nice.

"You are correct in your observation. It is up to future generations to uncover these things which we couldn't. Well now if you guys have any questions ask right away, we have time left so I'll answer a lot of questions."

With a topic as heavy as this there was bound to be a lot of questions and students of Caladric didn't disappoint in the slightest with their questions and the class continued.
