Darrick woke up lying on the floor beside his bed. It was complete darkness in his room, there was no light coming from the windows. It was already night. He went outside to check the time and it was a little over midnight.
Darrick's stomach growled. He realized he had missed the dinner. Again. But he didn't have any intention or energy to go and make something to eat so he sat on his while contemplating.
This is becoming repetitive. This is the second time I have fallen asleep for so long. Wasn't it around 4 o'clock when I fell asleep? Or did I fall unconscious? Yesterday I was exhausted a lot so it's understandable but what about today? There was literally no rea... Ah! That happened today!
Suddenly everything that transpired at the day came to mind. So many things happened in a really short time. In the beginning, it was just a parcel Darrick was unwilling to open and he still opened it anyway, then it went from normal parcel business to gaining magical artifacts that make you a big shot. The flames of creation made him the emissary of creation.
In the process, there was a letter with some kind of magic, and while doing the ritual few fingers were severed and got cauterized the next second, in another ritual process.
He raised his left hand and checked. The finger was completely intact, there weren't any burns either. Darrick rubbed his eyes and poked the bed with his left fingers, nothing was out of the ordinary. He checked both of his hands just to be sure he didn't remember the wrong hand. There was no trace of any injuries on both of the hands not even a small scratch.
That shouldn't be it. Was all of that not real? Did I not get flames of creation or something? Even if I think that I was hallucinating about my fingers cutting, there should at least be a small wound which I used to do the ritual.
Did someone or something heal me? Probably something healed me, yeah, definitely something healed me. Maybe I have super regeneration now. Oh! The dagger and the lighter. Those should be somewhere around here.
Darrick's heart was beating wildly. What looked like the key to return home was not there anymore. The fear was creeping in just thinking about that possibility. He searched the whole room. Everything was overturned but there was no trace of those two artifacts left in the room. He searched every nook and cranny for traces of it. When he opened the closet he found a torn cloth. The one he tore to stop his bleeding. But it made the situation more confusing.
If this cloth is here then all of that must have happened but where did everything go? Those two objects were definitely magical. Maybe all of it went back to its owner. On that note, those things appeared out of nowhere. Why did that happen? And what was that ritual? Shit, this is making me more confused. So many questions and no answer.
Darrick sat down and took a few deep breaths. He was hyperventilating just a second before while stressing so he was now in the process of calming. As soon as his condition was stable again he started the search once more. Now that he was a lot calmer than before he started to notice small things like a drop of blood on the shirt he was wearing. Or the bits of ash here and there. And also his burnt sleeves.
How the hell did I miss that? Thinking it was false hope definitely does some numbers on me. Anyway, so I have something but I don't know where it is. The "Flames of Creation" guy said the view on creation something something. Wait I Think I heard something like system initializing before I passed out. Argh. Why is everything so blurry? All of that happened just a few hours ago, right? Fuck.
System
What now? Nothing happened even after I said it. Are there any other conditions to fulfil? Do I need to say it out loud? Phew, let's try it.
Darrick thought as he scratched the back of his head. He was doing something a bit irrational out of nowhere but it was completely better to say it out loud in his room than a train full of passengers. So he proceeded with it.
"System"
There was a sound of unknown origin, it was a kind of mechanical sound. Something Darrick never heard before in real life but only in movies or games. It was there for a very brief period and with the sound passing, there was a flash of light and an interface appeared, the same one he saw on the train last time. Like how it was in the train just glitching and showing nothing relevant, this was also the same and was not stable. It was flickering, the parts of it were breaking apart and being remade.
Holy shit! I, I finally got my system. Hooray. Why the fuck is this so glitchy though? I can't even make out any word of it. Does it not take mental command? System, are you okay? I should try verbal commands.
"System, show me something else."
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Darrick hadn't expected anything to happen but it did, the glitchy interface disappeared. In its place, there was a normal interface now. At the top left of the screen, the word Inventory was written with a small question mark in a circle. Darrick clicked the question mark expecting the system to give a long line of text but to his surprise, the system talked.
Inventory:
One of the main benefits of emissary. This function is partially restricted by its current form. The abilities are limited.
The inventory can carry any artifacts and magical items. It can contain the raw materials, components of the items being created by the host and things related to the process. Living beings cannot be stored.
Hell yeah, I needed this. So many things would be easy with it. If I had this a while before I wouldn't have to carry that luggage but it also seems many things can't carried in it. Is my bag considered something related to the process or not? I can make some kind of connection to the bag somehow. I'll see if I can find some more workaround for it after checking out. Now let's check out all five categories or maybe four I guess.
Outside the main rectangular screen, there were small extrusions. The protrusion was divided into five parts and they had names of the section. The first part was glitchy so he clicked it and it was back to the glitchy screen, he didn't know what it was but with a little bit of guessing it could be deduced to be the Profile section.
"System, show me something else."
And the system had returned to the inventory section. He started reading what those protrusions were. Second was Inventory. Next were the Workshop, Material Identification and lastly Map. Darrick randomly clicked on the Map section.
Map:
The tool necessary to complete the "Flames of Creation." This function is partially restricted by its current form. The abilities are limited.
This function shows the Accurate map of the area of a 1 km radius of the host. The distance increases with every upgrade.
That's good but it looks like the explanation is lacking a lot. The Identify function looks more interesting than this.
Thought Darrick as he glossed over the map function without even looking through its functions but it was justifiable by the fact that there were many more things to see here.
Material Identification:
Emissary must identify the materials before creating anything from them. This function is partially restricted by its current form. The abilities are limited.
This function helps the host to identify any material he touches with any part of his body. It can tell everything about non-magical materials and everything accessible at the host's level about magical materials.
It looks like I'm on a path to becoming some kind of artifact creator so all these functions are complimenting me with that goal in mind. The Workshop is understandable but I'll check it out nonetheless.
Workshop:
This is the form taken to facilitate the emissary's needs in mastering the art of creation. This function is partially restricted by its current form. The abilities are limited.
The host can create anything and everything as long you have all the materials needed and methods/blueprints available.
He tried to see if he could see anything on the profile section again but was enraged to see what he expected.
Profile

What the fuck even is this shit? Does this not recognize me because I'm from a different world? I essentially don't have profile functions. That means I'm not like video game characters. I have to earn most of my achievements. Haha, yes. I wouldn't like getting strong randomly. When I return home, I want to be proud of myself for returning with my power.
Now that Darrick gave a quick glance at all of the functions descriptions he wanted to try them out like any normal person. When he was checking out the inventory, he saw the artifacts that disappeared yesterday in his inventor.
Earlier he was about to conclude that everything he saw this afternoon was all a dream because the artifacts which were proof of whatever happened earlier today had disappeared. It turns out those artifacts disappeared because he had gotten the system and they were in his inventory safe and sound.
Darrick tried some hand gestures to see if he could get the artifacts out of the inventory. It did not go well. He was quite sure mental command would have worked if he had more practice but he settled for verbal commands. He would make the mental command work at a later date.
"System, give me the dagger stored in inventory."
The dagger appeared on his palm. He was worried it would give some nasty cuts like what happened to him previously but now the dagger had a sheath.
Yeah, I literally forgot but didn't my fingers literally get cut off at that time? Did gaining the system somehow heal everything? At least it's ideal. I don't have to live with a few fewer fingers now and some serious burn marks. I also did not feel any pain earlier today when my finger got cut off. I don't know why that happened but I should try to find out about it.
Darrick thought while fiddling with the knife. He also brought out the metal box and lighter, as the wooden box had disappeared. He put it inside and brought it back two to three more times. Now that he had some idea about his inventory he moved on to the identify function.
Wow! I expected those artifacts to be decently good but they exceeded my expectations.
??? dagger:
Rare(current) ??(unsealed)
This dagger can cut through anything the user wills.
Fire breath:
Rare
This generates the fire that burns anything non-magical and magical items take damage depending on the magical energy it contains.
This artifact takes magical energy to operate. Depending on the energy supply the heat of the fire varies.
These two are really good ones I think. Rare seems pretty up there in the ranking. The lighter is a legit rare rank but that dagger has something else going on with it. I'll check out other functions tomorrow morning.
Darrick pushed all the extra thoughts to the back of his mind and fell asleep.
