UA one week later
Internships had to be called back in early due to The Hosu attack, with the loss of a student and the principal, they needed every teacher at the school, in a meeting to decide the schools future.
The teachers of UA sat around their usual meeting table, But now instead of one chair missing its occupant, another lay empty, the chair at the head of the table. Most avoided looking at the empty seat, but there was one person for whom their eyes wouldn’t look away. It was Snipe, his trademark mask hiding his expression. “Well, It’s time to talk about what exactly happened, because I don’t believe the story the media is spinning for a second” Snipe said, his western accent appearing muted.
Shota nodded, staring at the security footage. “The rat made some powerful enemies. The mere fact that the HPSC released the story so soon after the attack, with such conviction should be evidence enough.”
Snipe looked over, His finger itching at his trigger. “If I get my hands on that glorified chicken I will make him regret it.”
Thirteen chipped in “Now we don’t know it was Hawks who did it, sure he was given credit but…”
Snipe quipped back “That disgrace is nothing but a lapdog, doing their every whim. It couldn’t have been anyone else.” he growled out.
It was Mic who spoke the obvious question “How can you be so certain?”
Snipe took a deep sigh. “I used to be a part of the same program as him, Although for me it was a lot easier to slink away from the job. With the help of Nezu. Although I had to hide my identity behind a mask, Alongside faking this quirk. I'm sorry for not telling you all, but I hope you understand it was for security reasons.” the room was shocked into silence, but before anyone could respond an alarm rang throughout the empty school They looked over to the security footage, Showing men in suits, and heroes marching into the school, moving through the flock of Reporters at the gate, or well what used to be the gate, what was now just a pile of rubble. Snipe stood up, looking to all his companions putting on his facade one last time.
“I doubt our visitors are here for a friendly chat, y’all get out through the passage, I’ll hold em off.”
That got the heroes to get out of their stupor rushing to action, but one hero stopped in their tracks, holding onto Snipe's shoulder as he attempted to leave. He turned around to see Mic, a sad look on his face “You could come with us, We can all survive this day.”
Snipe shook his head “I’ve got a score to settle, One last job for the boss.”
Mic nodded, watching his friend run off, he had to wonder just how much Snipe had hid from them, but he had to trust his friend one last time. And hope he made it out alive.
Snipe stood in the Nezu’s office, Slowly bringing his hands to his head, pulling off his mask and putting it on the desk before he knelt before the Desk. Tears streaming down his face, a huge scar running down the left of his face. His purple eyes glistened with tears. He stood up, drawing his two guns as he hit a button under the former principals desk, opening a lift to the secret passages of UA, opening a case with silent determination, picking up the item inside with, testing it out, “It’s been a while.” his voice sounded more rough without the mask, his western accent gone, replaced with a near flat tone.
Crust led his team shields already covering his limbs, he felt antsy as they walked through the halls “Remember we are here to detain them if possible, Whilst they may be your fellow heroes, but they are suspects in Endeavor's death, so don't let your guard down.” They ran through the halls spreading out to search the facility. He got increasingly lost in the maze that they called a school. Constantly backtracking by accident, even running into people that were supposed to be exploring the other side of the building. After 15 minutes of useless exploring He sighed as he came face to face with Slidin’ Go, who drifted around him before stopping. “Sorry, Must’ve missed you there, this place is impossible to navigate.” Crust, already exhausted didn’t have the energy or willpower to deal with Slidin’ Go, Calling over the radio “All teams report A hero who had been a part of the LOV raid answered in a detached voice “No sign of anyone, are you sure they were meant to be here?”
He responded, tired of explaining it “Our superiors were certain of it.”
Suddenly another person joined their frequency “Ah Crust, It’s been a long time” He froze at the sound of the voice, it was a voice he had tried to forget. He shook out of it. This had to be a trick “It can’t be, He is dead, I was at his funeral.”
The voice on the other side hummed “We both wish that were true, But you see I have unfinished business with an old friend of mine, you might know him as the next Number One hero. And I want you to call him over”
Crust huffed “And why would I do that”
The voice replied coldly “Because I now have a building full of hostages and I’m sure you are aware” a gunshot rang throughout the receiver, some muffled screams being heard “I am not one who makes idle threats”
Crust Swallowed the lump in his throat as the situation he was in finally caught up to him, This was the man he had known, the Silent Blade of the Commision that had been silenced all those years ago, The former assassin Null. Everyone in this building was in grave danger. “I’ll see what I can do”
“Good, If any of you move, or try to find me, I’ll take you out one by one.”
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
Crust fumbled for his receiver as the radio went silent, switching to the HQ channel “Did you hear that?”
The HPSC official who was in charge of this whole affair hummed “Yes this is troubling, Continue as normal, If I deem things dire enough I’ll Send in help.”
Crust felt crestfallen “But I can’t just send my men in to die, We are spread thin and would be too e..”
The official cut them off. “We won’t make deals with villains Crust, besides Hawks is too valuable to risk, you will all have to do it without him, And are you saying you can’t defeat one quirkless man with a large group of heroes and HPSC security? .”
Null spoke, “That’s all I needed to hear.”
Crust jumped as the corridors around him exploded, with gunfire, he shielded both himself and Slidin’ Go Ducking into a nearby classroom panic rang throughout the radio traffic as Crust tried to assess the situation. “ The UA defenses have been activated, Everyone stay on high alert.”
The former teachers all make it safely out of UA, each heading their separate ways for now, having to lay low. They vowed to figure out exactly what happened to their former boss, And take down who was responsible.
Snipe calmly opened the hatch, jumping down and rushing forward, silently taking down the lone guard, slicing his throat with his knife, as if he had done it a million times. He climbed back into the secret passageway. That was the 10th one down. Panic rose over the radio chatter as Snipe moved onto the next group.
Crust breathed heavily as the last turret fell to the ground, one of his shields sticking into the wall, He called it back. Catching a glint out of the side of his eye, he lifted a arm to defend, a shield forming just in time to block a knife attack, but the man who carried a manic grin quickly switched gears, Shooting one of the Agent who had began pulling out a gun, Crust took the opportunity to go on the offense, Charging forward only to be covered in smoke. He Had his shields form a defensive formation, spinning around him as fast as he could manage, enough to stop any close range attacks. He heard the sound of metal on metal as a flash of red. He Sent two shields out from his rear to lash out blindly, before calling them back. He attacked another flash of red to his left, only to feel a sharp pain in his right side as he heard a bang. He clutched his side as he redirected his shields to block the attack, but not before another bullet hit his leg. He knew he should be feeling the pain, but all he could feel was The sweat on his face and his heartbeat. His ears ringing he struck out in a last ditch attempt to escape the mist, But his leg gave out on him as he came crashing down onto the floor, his shields dissipating back into his arms. Null stared at him, his purple eyes watching his arms as a gun was trained to his head. He pulled out a second pistol, turning it to the room to his right, Aiming right at a hiding Death Arms. “Don’t get any bright ideas big guy, Even if you can block the bullet your friend here isn’t in any condition to do so.” He waited, until he was sure that the Punching hero wasn’t moving. He hit a button on the radio strapped to his chest. Speaking into it.
“So, are you going to bring Hawks here or not?”
Null got pelted by feathers, pinning him to the wall beside him. “I’m already here, old friend.” The assassin struggled in his makeshift restraints before the bird hero rushed in from the destroyed window, Knocking the man out cold. Picking him up “You big guy, make yourself useful and carry your superior out of here.”
Death Arms nodded, seemingly out of it. Picking Crust up. He seemed to get his voice back as Hawks was about to fly off with the unconscious assassin. “Where are you taking him? Shouldn't you hand him to the police?”
Hawks stared back a predatory look in his eyes “That’s classified, Worry about your own objective.”
With that the unofficial number one hero flew off.
A few weeks later
Izuku had gotten into a strange routine with the Hero killer, they would both watch the news as Izuku treated his wounds, Before sharing a coffee, They had begun talking. And They kept going back onto how to fix hero society, in which they both had very different opinions.
Izuku started. “The system can be fixed without a purge. All you would need to do is get the public against the HPSC”
Stain huffed out in frustration.“ And let fakes hurt people as the public struggles to see what the problem is? The public is fickle, and hate change, that’s why they still haven’t fully accepted All Might’s death”
“They can be made to care, But killing heroes will just make them martyr’s when they can be made examples.”
“How would we do that?” he asked, His red eyes boring into the boy.
“We could expose them in such a way that the HPSC can’t bury it. Start small, with lesser known heroes, and build it up to the bigger heroes, making it easier for them to handle.”
“Even if that worked, you wouldn’t survive out there, Not with how you fight.”
The boy’s eyes lit up “then why don’t you train me! We both have to lay low anyways!”
“No, I’m merely housing you until you are capable of taking care of yourself, that is final.” The man ignored him, turning to the news.

Izuku’s hands itched as he turned off the tv. He couldn’t just sit here whilst the outside world was falling apart. He experimentally put his legs down, cautiously standing up. He balanced from one leg to the other, sure his one leg hurt like hell, but he could walk again. “YES!” he jumped in celebration, only to land on his bad leg first, buckling under the weight, he went tumbling to the ground with a loud BANG. he heard rushed footsteps, before it stopped in front of him. He pulled himself up to an unimpressed Stain. “Kid, I told you to not push it. You’ll only make it take longer.”
He stared back at the screen, showing the aftermath of Hosu. he forced himself to begin walking., heading for the kitchen “But I can’t just sit and do nothing, It’s been driving me insane, I’m no help to people like this.”
Stain stared at him pointing to the screen that was now showing his school photo in a lineup of wanted villains. “Face it kid, they don’t want your help”
Izuku stared back, looking at the screen as it showed his crying mother, begging him to turn himself in, saying it was all a misunderstanding. “I know, my whole life has been people telling me they don’t want my help, that I can’t do it. That I’m a burden. But I pushed forward anyway. Because even if I only saved one life, that would make it all worth it, all the pain and suffering. All the training to reach for an impossible dream. All those people taking a chance on me.” He stared at the hero killer, a look of pure determination on his face “And I can’t give up now.”
The man stared ahead silently.. In deep thought. “So you really won't divert from this path.” Izuku shook his head.
“Fine then little hero, I’ll train you”
“You really mean it!”
He held up his hands “After You recover, and only until I deem you fit to not get yourself killed.”
“Thank you Stain-sensei! I won’t let you down!”
“I know.”
