When she was dropped off at the apartment with her guitar and her little plastic bag of dirty clothes her father had already left for an overtime shift at work.
"He left those for you hun." Her mum said, pointing to a small stack of paper. "Best get them copied today before he changes his mind."
Then her mum caught sight of her clothes. "You're looking -"
"Don't, please mum just, don't say it." Jo pleaded.
"Happy," her mum continued. "Not your normal clobber?"
"Susan lent me some clothes so we could go out." Jo admitted, defensively.
"Nice for you to have a girlfriend again." Her mum said, shuffling off to the kitchen.
"She's not my girlfriend mum." She called after her.
"Well she never denied it when I asked. Perhaps that says something?" The reply came from the kitchen.

"I'm off to change." She called, not deigning to reply.
She got into her bedroom and stripped to her undies, she ran her fingers over the cherries on the front 'they are quite comfortable.' she thought quietly. 'No point dirtying two pairs.' She left them on and dressed in her normal clothes, and returned to the living room.
Wearing Susans underwear felt like she had a dirty little secret, she bit her lip, for some reason it turned her on slightly.
"I'm going to call Mrs Mendez, Jenny's mum." Jo said, picking up the phone.
The call was answered on the first ring and they discussed the documents her dad had provided, Mrs Mendez was delighted she was taking the application so seriously. When she told her she was going to get them photocopied however, she said "Copies of documents need to be notarized, it just guarantees they are original. I'm a notary myself so you could bring them here. If you're doing that you should bring a passport photo too, I can sign the back."
"Erm, are you available today?" Jo asked, conscious her mum had wanted her to return the documents.
"Of course dear, pop round this afternoon, in fact come for dinner. I'm sure Jenny would love to have company." Jo quickly confirmed this with her mum, "that sounds great Mrs Mendez, if it's not an imposition." She quickly finished the phone call and hung up.
"Well, it looks like I'm going out again! Any idea where I can get passport photos?" She asked her mum.
