This takes place after chapter 86, glances and mockery. It continues the story of James and the book of phantom.
James looks at this book and takes it inside. He begins reading it, it tells of trades for power. Spells anyone can perform with miraculous effects. As he reads it, he gets the idea to try it out. As he reads it, he follows the steps, causing a flame to appear in his hand.
James: Woah, so cool!
He says in amazement at his own feats. He casting all sorts of spells with the book. The night passes without an ounce of sleep. He eventually passes out but not long after the bartender walks into his room, and wakes the young magician up.
Bartender: Hey kid, it’s almost showtime.
The kid gets up, rubbing spit from his chin.
James: Huh? Oh, yeah.
Bartender: Jeez kid, last night was rough. Just know that tonight is probably gonna be worse. People will come to get a kick outa kicking you down.

James: Yeah I figured as much.
The two sigh. Later in the night, a crowd forms downstairs, they all grab their drinks and sit, ready for an amusing show. The lights dim as James walks out onto the stage. The viewers hit each other’s shoulders, laughing in anticipation. James looks down at his deck of cards. He shakes his head and opens his arms wide.
James: Welcome everyone! Hows is everyone doing tonight.
The crowd just laughs amongst themselves.
James: That’s good, glad to hear it. Now for my first act, I will be surviving being lit on fire.
The crowd instantly stops laughing and is shocked. James grabs a lighter, and a man in the crowd runs up to stop him. But he is too late and James lights himself on fire. The crowd is shocked, no, mortified. But, James’ laugh pierces the silence. The fire swirls around into a ball in front of him, as he is perfectly untouched. The crowd is amazed and begins clapping at this display. James reveals a smile, as he moves his hands, causing the ball of fire to form into a flaming smiley face.
Man: OH MY GOD HOW HE DO THAT!
He carries on with his show throughout the night. In the end, everyone leaves with a smile on their faces.
Bartender: If you could do that, why did you let everyone make fun of you before?
James: Uh, no reason really.
Bartender: Uh, ok. Remember, we have you on for one more show tomorrow. After that, we will have a full house, so bring on your best tricks.
James: Best tricks… Ok!
He walks into his room.
James: Best tricks…
He says looking at the book. He begins reading and reading. Looking for something flashier. He throws the book down on the table.
James: There’s nothing flashy! I must go further! If I want to impress them I have to go even farther than I have before.
A breeze rolls through the room, causing the pages to flip. James looks toward the window, confused as he doesn't remember opening it. He gets up and slides it shut. As he walks back to the book, it’s on a page he doesn't remember seeing.
James: Communion?
