That can’t be who I think it is, Zane thought to himself.
Turning his head with the rest of the crowd Zane saw Brad walking toward the meeting area. When he was a few meters away he knelt down and emitted a bright light. Slowly he rose up as the ground beneath him gathered into a platform.
Watching Brad create the platform was a shocking event for Zane. One reason for Zane’s shock was his knowledge about Brad’s ability. Brad’s ability to manipulate mana was very poor. Seeing him use his energy to create a platform was very surprising. Also, when Brad created the platform Zane was able to sense the pressure that Brad’s source field emitted. Based on the pressure of his source field Zane guessed that its quality was close to or equal to his own source field.
“Welcome to the party brother.” Damien nodded toward Brad. “You're allowed to say whatever you want, but I hope you don’t start accusing people of things they didn’t do. What lie did I tell these people?”
Brad hesitated for a few moments. Zane could see that Brad spoke without thinking. Fortunately, his hesitation only lasted for a few seconds. Suddenly, his eyes lit up and he regained his confidence.
Pointing at Damien, Brad spoke loudly with a voice full of righteousness. “You said the evil path was the only way for them to live. Isn’t that a lie? People can choose to become stronger by walking the path of righteousness.”
Damien calmy replied to Brad. “It’s possible to become stronger with righteousness, but I don’t know how to do so. The energy I use is evil energy and I can give others access to that energy as well. Why would I tell people to upgrade to a race that I knew nothing about? I wouldn’t be able to help them become stronger if I did that.”
“Maybe you didn’t lie, but you’re definitely misleading everyone. You did mention that the evil energy might cause people to commit a few harmful acts, but you didn’t mention how terrible those acts could be. Once the evil energy enters the body it will influence all of your actions and thoughts. Before you know it, you will find yourself doing things that you previously would never have thought. I urge all of you to not even consider upgrading to the evil human race. Once someone starts walking on the path of evil it’s very difficult to stop.”
Damien started shaking his head. “I already told everyone that I have only been an evil human for a short period of time. I have no idea how the evil energy will affect other people. With that being said how do you know how the evil energy will affect people? Perhaps what you said is wrong. I don’t plan to stand here and try to refute everything you said. If people don’t want me to help them upgrade to the evil human race, then I won’t. The only reason I came up here was to help others. I’m definitely not some evil devil that came on the stage to force people on to the path of darkness.
Damien gave Brad a devilish grin before he continued speaking to the crowd. “All of you have heard what I had to say about the evil human race. Also, someone who grew up as an evil human spoke to you about their experience. Those who are still interested in becoming an evil human please step forward.”
“Don’t step forward,” Brad said. “The evil path is the wrong path. If you choose to upgrade to a righteous human, then I can help you complete your upgrade. I was gifted with the power of one of the angels from heaven. God is real and picking the evil path will only bring you suffering.”
At first only a few people were willing to upgrade to the evil human race. However, the more Brad talked the more people moved toward Damien. While they moved toward Damien, they ridiculed Brad for what he said.
“I can’t believe I listened to this crazy person.”
“He wants to talk about God and righteousness while most of us are trying to figure out a way to survive.”
“I bet he’s going to start calling all of us sinners and tell us that were going to go to hell.”
“Hey, if God is real then how about you show us some proof.”
Zane and the others frowned as they heard the comments of the crowd. Even if they didn’t like what he said there was no need to be rude about it. They were worried that Brad would be discouraged by their words. Looking toward Brad, they saw him calmly standing on the platform while the crowd mocked him. Once they started to quiet down Brad spoke.
“I don’t know if god is real, but I do know that heaven is real. I was able to see a glimpse of heaven and the system confirmed that what I saw was true when it upgraded my class. All of you can take a look and see for yourself.”

To Zane, Brad’s decision was completely idiotic. He would never show his class to a crowd of people he didn’t know. However, after taking a second look at Brad’s class he began to understand Brad’s decision.
At first, he couldn’t understand why Brad was trying to win over the crowd. If some people chose to become evil humans, then that was their decision to make. However, Brad’s class encouraged him to spread righteousness. Therefore, convincing people to become righteous humans was probably beneficial for him and was worth telling people about his class. If he had let people become evil humans, it would have been harder to steer them toward the path of righteousness.

“Is it true? Is heaven real?”
A woman had pushed her way through the crowd. She ran to Brad and knelt before the platform he created. Tears were streaming down her eyes and her voice was filled with desperation and hope.
“It’s real.” Brad answered. “I’m willing to bet on my life that its real.”
“And can we see our loved ones in heaven?”
Brad started shaking his head. Before the woman could react, Brad started speaking. “I asked the angel I met the same thing, and he didn’t give me a clear answer. He only told me to have faith.”
“I’m willing to upgrade to the righteous human race. Please make me a righteous human.” The woman bowed while she was on her knees and begged Brad to change her race.
“I’m sorry for doubting you please forgive me.”
“I want to change my race too.”
Many people approached Brad asking to upgrade their race. Zane was surprised to see the huge change the crowd went through. It was hard to believe that so many people were mocking Brad before. Now, those same people were bowing to Brad, and a few were getting on their knees.
Zane found the entire event strange. It seemed like a lot of people believed in the heaven Brad mentioned. However, from what Zane knew about Brad’s world, heaven was related to God and most people didn’t believe God existed. The more Zane thought about what recently happened the more mysterious Brad’s world appeared.
As Zane was thinking to himself, Brad and Damien had begun upgrading the races of the people that approached them. Both Brad and Damien became channels for energy to flow through. They would place their hand on a person’s head and righteous or evil energy would flow into the individual. Both of them were bypassing the accumulation that was usually needed for an upgrade and Zane had no idea how they did it. In less than two minutes the person they were channeling energy into would stand up with their race upgraded.
Watching the upgrade unnerved Zane. One of the greatest strength of humans was their unity. Now, Brad and Damien were creating a clear divide amongst humans. Although Zane was upset about the division there was nothing he could do about it. Even if he had a way to upgrade ordinary humans to a higher level it wouldn’t change anything. There were no combat benefits for upgrading to a higher-level human.
In the end Zane decided not to focus on the division that was currently happening. People Upgrading their races would make them stronger and make it easier for Zane during the Upheaval. If problems occurred because of Brad and Damien’s actions today then Jade, Adam and the others would be the ones to handle it. During the Upheaval Zane’s only job was to kill mana creatures and look out for his friends.
Sophie interrupted Zane’s thoughts by patting him on the shoulder and pointing toward the edge of the crowd. Zane saw Britney and the others standing by the side. Zane was surprised but, happy to see them. Zane’s group walked over and congratulated them on their upgrade.
“It was all thanks to you guys.” Britney said. “Each of us create a perfect source field with a protection in the late eighties.”
“Also, we did pretty well during the trial for our classes.” Frank said. “However, I think the system might have made it easy for us.”
“What classes did you pick?” Jason asked.
“You don’t have to tell us,” Sophie quickly added.
“We don’t have anything to hide,” Sam said. “Feel free to have a look.”

The group discussed each other’s class while they waited for Brad to finished. They gave each other suggestions about what ways their class might develop and the skills they might be able to learn. The discussion wasn’t one sided. Sam and the others were able to provide interesting ideas that they learned from stories in their world. After some time, Brad finished helping people upgrade their race and walked over.
“Sorry for taking so long and thanks for the save back then. If you didn’t tell me about what that guy said I wouldn’t have known how to respond to his questions.”
“Yeah, it was pretty dumb to call him a liar out of nowhere,” Britney said.
“Also, why did you show everyone your class?” Sam asked. “That was another dumb move.”
“Brad had a good reason for showing his class,” Zane said. “His class is about spreading righteousness. I’m sure Brad got at least one level from upgrading the race of all those people.”
“Now that you mention it,” Brad said. “I did manage to level up two times. I was wondering why that happened. Ha-ha I guess I’m being rewarded for my good deeds.”
In response to Brad’s word Zane shook his head in disbelief. He struggled to understand the reason behind Brad’s decisions. In the end, only one word came to mind.
“Idiot.”
