Being able to choose two skills from his previous class was a great advantage. Although Zane would benefit from an upgrade in any of the previous skills he had, there were some skills that he favored more than others. Out of the few skills he favored, he narrowed his choices down to two.
Taking the advice of his double Zane didn’t rush. He carefully pondered overall the skills he favored. He wanted to choose two skills that would be helpful in his immediate future and would continue to help him long term.
After a few minutes of thinking Zane had decided on his two skills. He told his double the two skill he would like to upgrade, and his double asked if he was sure. The moment Zane said yes, he received two system messages letting him know he had learned two new skills.
Congratulation! You have learned the Martial Weapon Awareness skill.
Skill: Martial Weapon Awareness
Level: 1, 0%
Tier: 1
Effect: Increases sensitivity to all martial weapons based on the perception stat.
Cost: 10 stamina per second
Congratulations! You have learned the Martial Weapon Durability skill.
Skill: Martial Weapon Durability
Level: 1, 0%
Tier: 1
Effect: Defense +2. Half of a weapons durability will be added as defense. The weapon must be held or attached to the body. Constant usage of this skill can bring a weapons durability down to zero.
Cost: 20 stamina per second.
Martial Weapon Awareness and Martial Weapon Durability were skills that upgraded from Warrior Awareness and Warrior Resilience. Warrior Awareness increased his sensitivity and helped him be more aware of danger on the battlefield. Warrior reliance increased his defense and helped him withstand more attacks on the battlefield.
Of course, there were other skills that Zane could have selected. He could have upgraded War Cry or Warrior Steps. War Cry could have stopped any mana creatures that might have tried to attack him. Warrior Steps would have allowed him to avoid getting hit.
War Cry and Warrior Steps were two great skills. However, Zane didn’t choose to upgrade them because of his bloodline. If Zane were to stop his enemies from attacking or completely avoid them, he would not feel a lot of pressure during a battle. The less pressure he felt the less likely his bloodline would activate.
Martial Weapon Durability was a skill that would help Zane survive on the battlefield, and it wouldn’t interfere with activating his bloodline. Of course, Zane had no way of knowing that his Warrior Resilience skill would transform into such an amazing skill. However, he was happy that it did.
On the other hand, Zane didn’t feel the same about his Martial Weapon Awareness skill. At first glance, the effect of the skill didn’t appear to be great. In fact, it might actually be worse. Zane didn’t have any enemies around him, so there was no way for him to effectively test out the skill.
Shrugging his shoulders Zane decided not to worry about the Martial Weapon Awareness skill for now. Zane dismissed the information about his skills and stretched. Once again, he was enjoying the changes that his upgrade had brought him.
“All I need to do now is choose my second class and then I can leave.”
“You can leave after you chose your second class.” The Martial Weapon Expert version of Zane said. “But I think that would be a waste of the advantages the system has given you.”
Zane’s eyes lit up after he heard his double speak. “What other advantages do I have?”
“As a class creator you can spend time in this unique space longer than others. The amount of time you can spend will be based on your source. I suggest you use this opportunity to learn new skill or practice your current skills.”
Excitedly, Zane began to question his double about the being able to stay in this unique space. His double simply repeated what he said before and told Zane he would have to figure out the specifics himself. Zane was a bit miffed, but he didn’t dwell on the fact that his double was being tight lipped. Instead, he selected his second class, so he could quickly begin training in the unique space.
Congratulations! You have obtained your second class.
Class: Mage
Description: Command the magical forces to bring forth creation and destruction that affects the world
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Rewards: 5 CP, +1 Int, +1 Wis, and +1 free stat point per level
Since the Mage class was Zane’s second class, he received less rewards from it. Of course, he could change the Mage class into his first class while he was still in the unique space. However, Zane considered that a foolish decision and had no intention of doing so. Once Zane selected his class, he threw himself into training and made full use of the unique space.
After hours of training, the system ejected Zane from the unique space and sent him back to his own body. At first, Zane was a bit dazed when he first opened his eyes, but he quickly adjusted. Once Zane adjusted, he leapt to his feet, threw back his head and let out a loud victorious laugh.
Congratulations! You have reached level fifty-one.
Zane had officially become a tier one expert. As he laughed into the air Zane let his source field spread out around himself. The light from his source field formed a sphere with a radius of one meter before shrinking back to the surface of his skin.
Your Innate ability has finished developing.
Innate ability: Weapon Affinity
Once the light from Zane’s source field finished shrinking back to his skin, he received a message. When he looked at the message the smile on Zane’s face became wider than before. Excitedly, Zane focused his attention on his innate ability so he could get information on what it did.
Weapon Affinity: Increases your affinity with weapons
When Zane looked at the information for his innate ability, he had a neutral reaction. The innate ability wasn’t bad, but it didn’t seem that great either. Zane already had a descent affinity with weapons. Seeing that affinity increase was good, but Zane was hoping for an innate ability that would improve his combat ability.
Innate abilities were created based on the quality of an individual’s source field and their personal experiences. It was more likely to see a dragon than to see two people with the same innate ability. Most innate abilities were defensive in nature. Some innate abilities were offensive, while the others were considered unique. A few innate abilities were a combination of the three.
Valin’s ability to cause humans to feel an extreme amount of pain from their injuries was an example of a unique ability. At least, that’s what Zane thought. It was unlikely for something so unique to be a simple skill that anyone could learn. Although Valin’s ability was unique Zane didn’t think it was all that great.
An innate ability didn’t determine one’s future, but it did show the path that an individual was currently walking. It was clear to see that Valin was consumed with his hatred for humans, and he was able to develop an innate ability that was related to his hatred. Zane would prefer to keep his ordinary innate ability that kept him on the path of weapons rather than have a powerful innate ability that could make him lethal to another race.
Dismissing the information about his innate ability, Zane prepared to leave. However, before he could leave, Zane suddenly felt his bloodline become active. Immediately, Zane sat down and activated Meditation.
Zane could sense that his bloodline had improved, but he couldn’t understand the specific changes that occurred. After a few minutes Zane was only able to sense that the previous abilities had become stronger. Other than that, he was unable to obtain any other information. Giving up, Zane decided to exit meditation. However, before he could do so, the system spoke to him.
The system can help you analyze your bloodline. Are you willing to give the system access to your bloodline?
The moment that Zane finished reading the message he felt a familiar sense of rejection. His bloodline had no intention of interacting with the system and Zane didn’t feel like he should disagree with it. Before Zane could answer the system, he felt it send another message. This message was sent directly to his bloodline.
Sounds and words were not used. Instead, Zane felt the system communicate with his bloodline in a way he couldn’t describe. A few seconds after the system finished communicating with Zane’s bloodline, he felt his bloodline urge him to agree. However, Zane could steel feel some hesitation and rejection from his bloodline. Ultimately, Zane decided to give the system access. He hoped the system could help him understand the changes in his bloodline.
Bloodline Name: ???
Bloodline Status: Damaged?
Bloodline Abilities: Hide, Training, Enlightenment
Hide: ???
Training: Intense training can lead to a tiny increase in stats.
Enlightenment: Enlightenment can lead to a small increase in stats
Hide was Zane’s bloodline’s natural ability to hide itself. Therefore, it wasn’t strange that the system didn’t get much information about that ability. Training was a new ability that Zane didn’t have in the past and Enlightenment was the ability that Zane had been using before. Enlightenment seemed stronger than before, but Zane had a feeling it would be much harder to activate.
Congratulations! The system has upgraded your Legendary Luck Blessing to Mythical Luck Blessing.
Blessing: Mythical Luck
Description: This blessing gives a major boost to the luck of the blessed person. Very few people are luckier than them.
When Zane saw the message about his upgraded blessing he was stunned. He remembered that the system said it would reward him for being able to analyze his bloodline. However, Zane thought the upgrade was completely undeserved. The change in quality when anything went from legendary to mythical was a major increase. Zane expected to see his luck jump one hundred points possibly a thousand.
Source Stats
Aura:18
Spirit:16
Comprehension:21
Luck:2
Anger immediately surged through Zane. He couldn’t help but feel like the system was toying with him. Zane dismissed his source stats and his system messages while vowing to never look at his luck stat again. Once Zane calmed down, he stood up and went down the tree.
“Congratulations on your breakthrough young friend.”
The moment Zane’s feet hit the forest ground he heard someone call out to him. He was able to instantly find the person who spoke, and he saw that it was Old Saber. With a smile on his face Zane offered him a respectful greeting.
“Greetings Old Saber. It’s good to see you again.”
“I was travelling by when I noticed the energy you released from your breakthrough. I can see that you have improved a lot.”
“Ha-ha, yes. It’s a nice improvement, but I still have a long way to go.”
“Although your strength has improved, you should still be adjusting to it, right? If you want, I can be your sparring partner, so you can get use to the increase in your strength faster.”
Zane’s eyes lit up and he didn’t hesitate to agree. Together Zane and Old Saber ran through the forest as they made their way to the training grounds. Zane didn’t know how Old Saber felt, but he was filled with fighting spirit.
