The Threat Looms

The Threat Looms

The next morning, as he rose from his bed, he smiled at the familiar notifications:

[Gained exp points x 32]

[Gained Recovery Pill x 2]

"It seems like the exp gained and the pills made will be given to me automatically each morning if I don't redeem them early. This means I should have around 65 exp points right now, which isn't enough." He thought.

"I should save up my points for a while I think. I already have enough things to focus on without overwhelming myself. I also need to make a decision for if I want to step onto the cultivation path officially by raising my realm, or if I should hold off for a while to build myself a better foundation..." he pondered.

While washing himself and changing his clothes, he decided to open his window and call for Xiao Lei. Petting the eagle for a moment, half-distracted by his thoughts, he eventually gave Xiao Lei a command to return to the lake and catch three more rabbits, keeping one for himself and bringing back the others. With a screech of acknowledgment, the eagle darted off toward the lake.

Making his way to the kitchen for breakfast, he found a meal that included meat alongside the rice. This was much better for his future training. While eating, he chatted with his mother. Soon, he headed out to the courtyard to continue his daily training routine.

As he was eating breakfast with his mother, he had already received a notification from the system about Xiao Lei successfully catching the rabbits, which earned him three more exp points. Unfortunately, there were no white rabbits among the catch this time. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Xiao Lei bring back the rabbits and place them at his feet, puffing up his chest in triumph. Tianyu laughed and praised the eagle before allowing him to return to the sky to enjoy his freedom.

Tianyu delivered the rabbits to the kitchen, informed his mother, and got ready to train.

First, he decided to work on his Cloud Chasing Technique, followed by the Venomous Needle Technique. He believed that, at his current level of strength, his best chance of survival was to focus on speed and precision in his movements.

"Sophia, sign in for today, please."

[Yes, host.]

[Congratulations, host! You have gained 1x Special Tool: Wire Thread.]

Bringing out the spool of thread, it's not very large, it could fit in the palm of his hand. it just seemed like any other spool of thread. He unravels a little bit and makes note of the material. It wasn't regular thread, it almost felt like metal, but slightly different. Almost like the wire you see on a fishing rod.

He did a few tests with the thread which shocked him. He rolled it out to see how much thread there was, thinking that there wouldn't be too much noting how small the spool was, however, he was wrong. He kept pulling and pulling on the thread which seemed like it would never stop. Eventually, it did, however, but it took a while.

"Sophia, how long is the thread I just pulled out?"

[The host has just pulled out 100 meters of wire thread,] she replied.

Tianyu was amazed. "How did all of this fit on such a tiny spool?" he wondered aloud.

While pondering the mess on the floor created during his experiment, he complained about the cleanup. To his surprise, the spool in his hand shook a little, floated in the air for a few seconds, and then, with a whizzing sound, pulled back all the wire from the floor.

"I love this thing," he exclaimed in delight, grateful that he didn't have to spend hours re-spooling the wire.

The next test he conducted with the wire thread shocked him the most. He tied one end around a gate post and walked a little distance away. Using all his strength, he pulled with all his might, but the wire didn't snap. It didn't even show any signs of weakening. Then, he had an idea. He fetched a knife from the kitchen and attempted to cut the wire, but the wire remained unscathed. The knife couldn't even leave a scratch.

He decided to try one more test. Tianyu pulled out his Sky Piercer Halberd, and with a swift motion, he swung the blade at the wire. This time, the wire finally gave way and was cut.

Tianyu couldn't decide what was more shocking: the fact that the kitchen knife couldn't mark the wire, or that his halberd managed to cut it. Both the thread and his tools seemed far from ordinary.

After testing the limits of the wire thread, he nodded in satisfaction and began his training.

Tianyu spent hours training his Cloud Chasing Technique, improving with each repetition. When he reached the point of exhaustion, he would consume one of his Recovery Pills and continue. He did this process once more before running out of pills. Unfortunately, he didn't have many of them yet.

After taking his last Recovery Pill, he continued to practice the movement technique but stopped before reaching exhaustion. He then tended to the rabbits, had a meal with his mother, and chatted for a while. Afterward, he returned to the courtyard to train in the Venomous Needle Technique until bedtime.

With a full day of training behind him, he lay in bed, still undecided about his path forward.

"Sophia, how many exp points did I gain today?"

[Host, you have gained a total of 48 exp points during your training. You have gained 3 exp points from your spirit pet beast and 15 exp points from your training avatar so far today, for a total of 66 exp points,] she reported.

"66 isn't bad, though I thought there would be more," he commented.

[The host must remember that every failure to complete the full Chasing Cloud Technique will reset the exp multiplier, and every time the host stops to take a Recovery Pill also resets the exp multiplier,] she reminded him.

"Yeah, yeah, I know," he responded playfully.

Not long after, Tianyu drifted into a deep sleep.

Over the next five days, his daily routine remained the same. During his daily sign-in, Tianyu received pills that would help him, but not just yet. These were the Spirit Nourishing Pill, Spirit Gathering Pill, and the Spirit Cleansing Pill, he also got some silver coins, which he handed over to his mother. When she asked about this, he made up some excuse about selling some of the rabbits he had caught, and lastly, on the fifth day, he received an avatar redemption ticket, which he was excited about. He contemplated what kind of avatar he should choose while having breakfast.

However, his peaceful routine was disrupted by an unexpected piece of news from his mother. She informed him, "I heard from some people in the market that the young master of the Fu Family was attacked in the street. Apparently, the head of the Fu Family is in a rage and is hellbent on finding the person who attacked his son."
