Tianyu quickly ate down some more Recovery Pills while planning his next moves.
The beast didn't charge straight at Tianyu this time. It seemed to look at him warily. This stand-off only lasted a few seconds when the beast jumped and slammed its arms into the ground.
Tianyu had a bad feeling and quickly dashed to the side just in time to avoid a large stone spike that had erupted through the forest floor.
He stood there shocked that this beast could also attack from range. This would bring an entirely new dynamic to this fight. It seems the beast had also started to take this fight more seriously.
The beast not giving Tianyu a chance to catch his breath stomped on the ground with his foot, which sent a stone spike hurling toward Tianyu.
He was able to see the stone spike, which didn't seem to hold as much power as when he slammed his arms down. He used his halberd and swiped at the spike, destroying it.
The beast kept slamming his feet down over and over, firing a barrage of spikes at Tianyu from all different directions.
Tianyu had to spend all his energy on defending these spikes. Due to the spikes coming at him from all directions, he wasn't able to defend against them all. Which caused his body to develop many cuts over a short period. They were all minor wounds, but after a while, they were taking their toll.
He knew he had to do something, if things carried on as they were, he would be defeated sooner rather than later.
The problem he had was the spikes he was unable to see coming, they posed no real threat to him other than catching him off guard.
The beast once again jumped and smashed his arms into the ground, forcing Tianyu to dodge to the side. The beast had a glint in its eye as it had predicted this and had already begun charging to the location where Tianyu was dodging.
Tianyu saw that he was about to be caught again, and made a split-second decision to transfer Qi into his weapon and slam it hard against the forest floor, using that momentum to springboard him out of the path of the beast.
Tianyu was in agony. Some ribs had already been broken, his body had cuts all over from the spikes and he had also been forced to throw himself to the side in order to dodge multiple times. Due to the broken ribs, he has also had trouble catching his breath. The lack of oxygen also is a big factor in this stamina reserve.

The beast once again began his barrage of stone spikes.
Tianyu just didn't have any opportunity to go on the offensive unless he ignored these spikes. Then he realized it, couldn't he do just that? The spikes are fast and sharp, but fragile. He had an idea and put it to the test. He wrapped his Lightning Qi around the palm of his hand and used it to block a spike. As soon as the spike made contact with the Lightning Qi, it disintegrated, leaving no damage on his palm.
Smiling inwardly, he had a plan. He was going to force the Lightning Qi from inside his body, to the outside, and wrap his entire body in the Lightning Qi. But he needed the opportunity to do it. He would need at least a few seconds to concentrate and channel his Qi. He had to bait out one of the beast's bigger moves.
Unfortunately, this meant taking more pain. Tianyu started to let more and more of the spikes pass his defense. He then dropped to one knee. Seeing this, the beast immediately fell into his trap. It stopped firing off the small spikes and lept into the air, slamming his arms down once more, and charged. But this time, Tianyu was expecting it. He dodges in the opposite direction to where the beast is charging and immediately starts concentrating on his Qi flow.
Outraged, the gorilla beats his chest and roars.
It was very difficult for Tianyu to force his Qi to the outside of his body. It was something he hadn't done before. But under the current situation, he had no choice. It was do or die. Luckily for Tianyu, he did.

Tianyu's body was surrounded by a blue hue. He had succeeded in his goal and fixed his eyes on the gorilla.
Once again, the gorilla barraged Tianyu with spikes, but this time was different. Instead of defending himself, he charged at the Gorilla.
Sensing something was different caused the gorilla to falter for just a moment. Tianyu took advantage of this moment and slashed forward with his halberd.
Shick!
Tianyu made contact with the gorilla and managed to cut through the skin on its arm, but it wasn't enough to cause any significant damage.
Tianyu knew that his own defense was too weak to protect him from the beasts' attacks and with his Qi protection he was safe from the spikes. This gave him the perfect opportunity to use his Raging Bull Technique. Abandoning all defense, Tianyu once again charged at the beast.
Swing after swing, Tianyu was landing attacks at a fast pace. But they just aren't doing enough damage. He was splitting the skin and causing wounds, but he couldn't cut through the muscle.
Time passed and Tianyu was still on the offensive. The beast had all but been suppressed now. As soon as it attempted to attack back, Tianyu would aim for a weak spot to cause as much pain as possible forcing it to defend again. They were once again at a stalemate.
"The answer to the stalemate last time was wrapping Lightning Qi around my weapon, but what if that's only half the answer?" Tianyu was thinking of a way to end this. "Maybe just wrapping the weapon in Qi isn't enough, and I need to make the Qi into a weapon..."
He started concentrating on the Qi around his weapon. He wanted to make it sharper. Instead of adding as much Qi as possible like he had been doing, he made it thinner and thinner. Refining the Qi into a blade. He also needed to be able to freely change the shape of his Qi. The blade on his halberd wasn't big enough to cut through everything, but what if he could extend his Qi, using his halberd as a medium?
With that thought, a light sparked in his eye. Idea after idea popped up in his mind.
While Tianyu was raining down blows on the beast, something interesting was happening. Each strike from his weapon was leaving different cuts. Tianyu was actively experimenting with his Qi while using the gorilla as a test subject.
The gorilla could no longer take this insult and swung its fist out. Tianyu quickly jumped back, not underestimating the power left in those fists.
The beast began to bang on the floor again with anger, sending spike after spike at Tianyu.
Tianyu charged at the beast once more, aiming his halberd high. As he got closer, the beast raised its defense to protect its face from his attack. The beast fell for his feint. Tianyu quickly ducked under the gorilla's arms, and thrust his lightning-coated halberd forward, right into the chest of the beast. Piercing the best and through the heart. Life drained from the face of the beast as its eyes went dim.

Tianyu fell down from exhaustion. In this battle of life and death, he managed to stay alive. As relief washed over him, he couldn't keep from bursting out laughing.
"HAHAHAHAHA, I won you bastard monkey!" Tianyu lay for a while taking in his victory, and processing the fight. He had learned a great deal from this, and in one short fight, his power had increased by leaps and bounds.
He popped a couple more recovery pills and started to drag himself away, back to his Pagoda. He needs to rest and recover as there are plenty more red zones he needs to pay a visit to and he wasn't planning on leaving until he had cleared them all.
