Before twilight, I then hurriedly get back to my island. As I reach the dock, I then hurriedly took the Boar's corpse from the boat, and place it inside the house. I then swiftly went to the shed, and took a long, sewed, black cloth, and wrapped it around the field. I then use a stone and a wooden pillar, just 10 inches tall, and nailed each end of the clothe to the ground.

Right after that, I then tightly tied my boat on the dock, sealed the well, before I headed inside.

Locking the door, I then hastily went over to each window, and tightly close them, while also closing the curtain. I then lit each of the [Induction Lamp], by twisting the small comb. And as I was about to head back in the doorway, where the Boar was

I halted, on alert, as a pitch sound of a beast then resound. It was like a cawing of a crow that got choke. Like I said, the night in this world, isn't lovely.

{Swallowing Night}, is what we referred to this monster. No one really knows what is it, nor what it look like, but rumors said it could easily kill anything with a swift. It was later called as such, as it hunts at night, and basically being devoured by the night itself. A nocturnal monster, and a [Gold Tier] to [Platinum Tier]. The assessment isn't yet finalize, and this is merely an assumption, base on what rank of adventurer was it able to kill.

No weaknesses found, nor do we know how to kill it, just make sure that don't stay too long in the dark, or your dead.

Though my parents might be, imbeciles, or somewhat, but they always make sure to not meet a dead end. So with that, the house I am currently living, has a protective barrier surrounding it, from a talisman they stole from one of the noble they hook.

The barrier doesn't have a very strong defense, but it can hide anyone inside it, completely, just don't make some loud sound though. Knowing that, I then took the Boar's corpse I hunted, and drag it towards the kitchen.

After dismantling the corpse, I then cleaned the kitchen, with row of the monster's flesh, entrails, and some useful materials. I then wash away the blood on the wooden floor, making the water flow towards the dug area I made in the kitchen. It leads underneath like a waste bin.

It won't smell as its merely blood, and the ground will suck all of it underneath. While the bones, that aren't of use, was stored in a wooden box, and place just near the entry way of the back door, I'll be throwing them in the morning.

After I have wrapped all the meat I needed, and also the tusk, and skin of this beast, I then stored them in a wooden box, after rubbing some salt on them to be preserved.

Drinking a refreshing drink after eating a mouthful meal, is such a bless. Resting a bit on the living room, I then took the map I made inside the bag, and checked the area I have been into.

Placing the candle near me, I then examined it

As morning came, I then my usual job in the morning, tending the field, mining, retrieving what was mined, then dried all the meat I have stored, eat my meal, prepare all the things I needed, then headed back towards the island.

(Author's POV)

Yesterday, he headed towards the west of the island, now he is planning to head to the east. Bringing the map with him, with his weapon equipped, he then started his adventure.

Marking his way, he then found himself to an open field, like a meadow, but without any grasses sprouting, just a plain field of green dirt. Flowers loitered around the area, with critters busily going by.

As he moved with precaution

Rustle Rustle Rustle

"!"

He then swiftly scrunch down, and stare around the area with a fixed gaze of vigilance, with his shield and spear ready. He then silently moved towards the bushes to his side, while carefully looking around.

As he got there, he then observed his vicinity, trying to see what monster did made such rustling sound.

Minutes pass, yet nothing appears, no shadow, no noises, just complete silence. For others this might be luck, but for some? This is an omen. Suddenly hearing an out of nowhere noise, yet didn't see anything around, can be concluded as: (1) someone is watching you, (2) it uses some kind of invincibility skill, (3) a trap, or (4) it was merely the wind, brushing the leaves of the bushes.

With so much possibilities, Shin can't stand still with such situation, but still steeled his heart as he move forward. Staying still won't gain him anything, though he has an option to go back, but in this world, there are only few times of peace, than war.

Transversing the wilderness, with stealthness and awareness, he made his way to a small cave, just 2 meters tall with a width of 3 meters. It was placed at the certain of a circular open field, with tall trees surrounding it, and a flat rock at the right side.

The placement of such thing is quite suspicious, so he merely marked it in his map, survey the surrounding area, before he moved forward. He doesn't have time to explore it, but doesn't meant he wouldn't.

After a distance away from the cave, almost half an hour walk, he then arrived to a lake, just a medium size one.

"Now I know where that streaming water comes from"

He stated, before he looked around the area, and observe. The lake was bountiful with fishes, and some other water living creatures, monster included. But as he don't know what monster is in there, he just speculated some dangerous one.

Knowing it has a lot of creatures living, the water is safe to be drink

"!"

He then swiftly place his shield upfront, with his spear pointing forward. Calming himself, he patiently awaiting. His breath took a slow rhythm, with his movements steady and silent.

And unlike before, the noisy maker shows up

"!?"

Nghrrgg Nghrnnghh

A wild beast with black fur, covering its entire large body, shown itself. It has a shaggy hair, sharp claws on its paws, with small rounded ears and stocky legs, and a short tail. The said beast, gradually move itself towards the basin of water.

'A {Bear}!?'

He thoughtly yelled, surprised, as a formidable foe was now in front of him. Seeing such monster, he then silently back down, moving himself to the thick bushes.

{Bears} are [Copper Tier] to [Silver Tier] rank monsters, with their thick fur, due minimum, they are immune to physical attack, and someone like Shin, throwing his spare at it, won't bore the same effect like that Boar.

Though they have keen sense of smell, with the disgusting scent of the flower he have in hand, the {Bear} won't get near. Even though its nose is blocked, its eyes wasn't, so Shin made sure to hide himself properly.

After marking this place in his map, and adding an additional monster he found in this area, he then continued moving forward, by of course, going around the lake.

An hour pass, since the time he saw that cave, and separating himself from that {Bear}, he then made his way to a dense forest, where he saw

Snort Snort Snort Snort

Grunt Grunt Grunt

A pack of {Wild Boars}, settling themselves in the deep forest. Young ones were playing around with each other, nearby the grown-ups that are looking at them, while their alpha were roaming around the vicinity, carefully checking the area.

The pack were merely composed of 15 {Boars}, including the 4 young ones, with 5 of them are females. Back in earth, {Boars} only form a group with 1 female, and its young, with a male one joining, just to breed. Sounders is what they are called, but in this world, pack of {Wild Boars} aren't rare.

Adding this place in the map, Shin then made his way back to the boat, as it was already an hour or so when he explored this area. Prolonging his stay here, would be a disaster, so he hurriedly went back, with watchful eyes, and careful steps

As he arrived at the lake, he then vigilantly observe his surrounding, trying to see if the said monster is still here, roaming. But as he hide himself in the thick bushes, he couldn't see, nor hear any sign of the {Bear}, deciding, he then stood up, and continued.

Time is his enemy here, as every move is accounted, one single misstep, would be his end.

Passing the cave he once saw, he was just a couple of distance away from the boat

Rustle Rustle Rustle

He then halted

"!?"

Hnnrrghh! Hnnnghh!!

But it seems, fate work wonders on its own, as the {Bear} was now blocking his way, with gaze fixed on him. Shin didn't made his stance, knowing full well he won't stand a chance against such monster, nor is it an option here anyway. But he still griply hold his weapon and shield, as sometimes, unexpectedness tends to follow fate.

Nhhghhrrhh!

As the monster roared at him, Shin eyes were swiftly surveying his vicinity, carefully planning his way out of this mess, making sure he will make it out. This monster might be powerful compared to him, but the night doesn't care.

Foouu~

Taking a deep breath, easing his anxious self, steeping his right foot forward

Nhhghhrrhh!

Swoosh

Shin then dash himself to the right side of the {Bear}, just a couple of distance from its right, after he threw his spear at it, hitting the {Bear} at its face

Nrghhh!!

As the monster roared, it then chased Shin. They might be big, but this monster are quite fast, faster than him, so he made sure to take the 1st dash before this beast.

As they were inside the dense forest, he uses it to his advantage, making some turns from right then left, using the trees as a shield and deceleration material, making the monster's speed decrease, even for a moment. Using his nimble self to the fullest, he was able to overtake the chasing monster.

Nghhrhhh!

Still running as fast as he could, making sure not to even stopped, he then reached where he dock his boat. He then hurriedly untied the rope, then hop on to his boat, and sailed.

Fouuu~

He then arc his back as he gaze down, and sigh in relief
