What do you think is the most crucial factor for cultivators?
Talent, undoubtedly, but it is not the most essential.
Family and resources? Yes, they play a significant role, but still not the most important.
So, what is the most important factor, you ask?
It is, without a doubt, Luck.
A protagonist without luck is not a true protagonist. In many Xianxia novels, the protagonist is often portrayed as the least talented individual in the world, and the family they are born into is usually the worst. But despite their lack of talent and resources, they still manage to stand out among other cultivators because of an X-factor known as luck.
Just like now, the martial art manual I am holding was placed in a very inconspicuous location in the Scripture Pavillion, and its description was not anything extraordinary. But as soon as the protagonist, Xiao Tian, took possession of this book, its true nature was revealed.
Inside the [Shadowless Movement Art] manual, there was a hidden page within the back cover that described the evolved shadowless movement art, the [Seven Celestial Steps].
The [Seven Celestial Steps] was a top-grade profound movement art, and its value was unsurprisingly high. Yet, this movement art was considered wasted on the protagonist because of his cheat grandpa, who possessed a vast arsenal of not only profound-grade martial arts but also earth-grade martial arts.
"So, I am just here to give justice to this martial art that would have otherwise just collected dust alongside the protagonist. How kind of me," I thought to myself as I picked up the manual without any guilty restraint.
Although this may alter the fate of the protagonist, I have no doubt that they will find a way to overcome any challenges that arise. I wouldn't take this risk in any other fantasy world, but this is a cultivation world where luck is not just an illusion, but a tangible law that governs all.
You might ask, why am I so confident? The answer is simple: there will come a time when a character who can see luck will appear.
Having achieved my goal, I walked out of the Scripture Pavillion with the [Shadowless Movement Art] manual in my hand. On the way out, I encountered the Elder once again, basking in the sunlight.
"Elder, this disciple has chosen the top-grade mortal rank martial art, [Shadowless Movement Art]," I said as I approached him.
The Elder cast a glance at the manual I was holding and said, "Hmm, this is a good choice. Not only is it useful for escaping dangerous situations, but it's also practical in combat. Many new disciples focus solely on attacking martial arts, but they forget the importance of being able to escape danger."
The Elder then gave me an approving nod, recorded the choice, and handed the manual back to me. "You can copy it yourself and return it in two days," he said.
"Thank you, Elder," I said as I bowed to him. Then the old man shooed me away as he once again basked in the sun.
...
What to do now?
Hmm...
Yeah! Let's go to the Treasure Pavilion.
I took out the token that the elder sister in the registration hall had given me and infused it with my Qi. A shimmering spiritual line appeared in front of me, leading me toward another pagoda-style building.
As I walked into the Treasure Hall, my eyes were immediately drawn to the numerous treasures displayed on jade shelves. I was momentarily dazzled by the array of riches before me.
Just as I was about to start browsing, a voice interrupted my thoughts. "Junior, are you here to purchase a treasure?" I turned around to see a mature and beautiful elder sister standing behind me.
Startled by her sudden appearance, I took a step back before answering, "No, I am a new disciple and I heard that we can choose a treasure for free."
The elder sister glanced at me and smiled, "I see, you are a new disciple. That makes sense. Otherwise, I'm sure I would have remembered a cutie like you if I had seen you before."

I replied, "Thank you, elder sister. You are beautiful too."
The elder sister chuckled at my compliment, "Oh, stop flattering me so much. You can pick a human-grade treasure that costs less than 100 merit points." She gestured towards the various shelves.
With excitement, I walked towards the shelves, examining the various weapons on display. In the game, the protagonist with a grandpa, Xiao Tian, relied primarily on his fists in the early stages, so there were no hidden opportunities to strengthen him. And the other protagonist was already overpowered enough to make their own weapons.
However, I still held out hope, as transmigrators are often lucky in these kinds of scenarios. Perhaps there was a hidden opportunity waiting for me here.
...
There are no hopes and dreams.
All that we have are lies and disappointment.
I scoured the room, hoping to find a glimmer of opportunity, but to no avail. No magical mirror capable of duplicating objects, nor a partially-completed treasure that was actually op.
"Maybe I should leave the opportunity seeking to the protagonist," I muttered to myself.
Bai Yu, Bai Yu, You are just an ordinary Transmigrator, you may be a bit more charming than others, have a better temperament than others, be more talented than others but still, the true chosen of this world is not you...
I berated myself for having high expectations as I gazed upon the shelves filled with treasures.
And then, my eyes fell upon a gleaming white sword. It was a straight-edged weapon, with a cool touch. It was roughly 99 centimeters long and heavy in my hand.
As a sword enthusiast, I could tell that it was a well-made weapon, even if it wasn't a profound-grade weapon with magical abilities. It was still a superior sword compared to the others displayed on the shelves.
So, I picked up the sword and decided, "I choose you."
...
[Elder Sister of the Treasure Pavillion.]
Liu Sisi observed the pretty girl in front of her as she leisurely gazed at the various artifacts displayed on the jade shelf. Despite taking a considerable amount of time, Liu Sisi didn't reprimand her. After all, who could blame her for being so cute?
"I am so kind," Liu Sisi thought to herself as she resumed her work repairing one of the profound-grade artifacts. As a master refiner, it was her responsibility to fix all of the broken weapons recovered by the disciples from the outside. Though it was a job, she didn't mind it.
Soon, Liu Sisi heard footsteps approaching and realized that the girl had finally selected her weapon. She was a bit surprised when she saw the weapon she had chosen. It was a massive sword that was longer and heavier than the other swords on display. The sword was almost half as tall as the girl herself.
"Elder sister, I want to choose this sword," the girl declared in a confident voice.
"Are you sure? This sword is very heavy for a beginner and can be challenging to use," Liu Sisi advised, trying to persuade the cute girl to reconsider. However, her resolve didn't waver.
"Elder sister, I am positive. I have taken a liking to this sword," the cute girl confirmed with a firm expression.
Liu Sisi could only offer advice, but if she was set on using the sword, she couldn't forbid it. "Very well. This sword is called the Silversword. It was recovered by a disciple during a mission outside. Please be aware that once you have chosen this sword, you cannot return it."
"Thank you, Elder sister," the cute said with a bright smile that brought a touch of warmth to Liu Sisi's heart.
Since this girl has chosen this sword, it must mean that this weapon has a fate with her. Liu Sisi can just hope for the best.
"Then elder sister, this junior retires."
As Liu Sisi watched the cute girl walk away with a huge sword that didn't match her frame, she imagined her using the sword...
Huh?
Cute girl wielding a big sword, it doesn't seem that bad. Rather the contrast makes it even cuter...
Liu Sisi sighed once again as she continued to fix the broken weapon.
