After the initial confusion, It seems that the senior sister had finally accepted that I was a boy.
"You are assigned to the [First Courtyard]. Here, this is your identification jade. Please be careful to not lose it."
The elder sister handed me a jade and turned back. She then gave me outer disciples' robes, a small bag, and a token.
The elder sister then continued, "These are your outer disciple's robe, a storage bag, and a token of the Treasure Pavilion. After you are promoted to the first stage of Qi condensation, You are also allowed to go to the Scripture Pavilion and select a mortal-grade martial art."
After saying that, the elder sister shooed me away. She must be really busy...
Soon, I met up with Qin Yue and Liuli and learned that both of them were also assigned to the First courtyard.
Qin Yue then coughed and said, "Since we are all assigned to the first courtyard let's go together."
I and Liuli nodded as Qin Yue took out her identification jade and a spiritual line appeared in front of us guiding us toward our courtyard.
"Let's follow this spiritual line."
In the game, there were 13 courtyards and the disciples were sorted out with talent and connections. I remembered that Xiao Tian seemed to be in the 13th courtyard in the game even though he was from a cultivation family.
It was not surprising though. Xiao Tian is the protagonist of waste wood flow. He will always be underestimated and treated as waste until he successfully counterattacks and fulfills the sacred ritual of face-slapping.
Along the way, we passed several disciples exercising in the sunlight. Though some of them took notice of us they quickly withdrew their gazes. Unless one is the protagonist, most of the time people will just mind their own business and will not go out of their way to harass others. Especially, since there is a disciplinary committee here as well.
I walked alongside the sisters, taking in our surroundings. The roads were lined with grey stones, and we passed by various courtyards along the way. During the walk, we got to know each other a little better. Qin Yue was particularly curious about me and asked a few questions.
"Where are you from, Bai Yu?" she asked.
"How old are you?"
"You know, having a top-grade spiritual root is so rare. You're amazing, Bai Yu!"
Her questions were innocent enough, but I could tell that she was a naturally curious person. I responded politely but drily, and Qin Yue seemed to pick up on my reluctance to answer. She stopped her queries soon after. As expected of someone who is an heir of a great clan, her emotional intelligence was quite high.
"Hey, Bai Yu! What do you think of my sister?" She suddenly asked breaking the ice after seeing my reluctance to answer "Isn't she cute too? Of course, she may not be comparable to you, but what about it?"
"Sister! Don't pester Bai Yu with such questions," Liuli scolded.
Qin Yue's smile was tinged with a hint of playful teasing as he gazed at Liuli, causing her to red.
"Hmph! I'm ignoring you," Liuli said, turning her face away.
From our conversation, it was evident that Qin Yue was the outgoing one of the two sisters and was also prone to mischief, as evidenced by her teasing of Liuli. Despite this, the walk to our assigned courtyard was pleasant and enjoyable nonetheless.

As we were about to enter the courtyard, a disciple dressed in a white robe appeared before us. He seemed to be guarding the entrance.
"What is your purpose for visiting the First Courtyard?" the senior asked us seriously.
I and the sisters took out our identification jade and replied, "Senior Brother, we are the new disciples assigned to this courtyard."
The senior brother looked at our identification jade, and his frown turned into a smile. "Oh! Welcome, juniors. My name is Guo Heng, you can call me Brother Heng. There's no need to be formal."
His sudden change in attitude surprised us, but then I realized that those who are assigned to the First Courtyard must either have high talent or a significant background. Thus, he was showing us his favor.
But this sudden face-changing skill, I admire. After all, without the protagonist's halo, the normal IQ of people will not be low.
"Thank you, Brother Heng," we said, cupping our fists to show our respect. Brother Heng still had a higher cultivation level than us, after all.
"No need for thanks. I'm just doing my job. Anyway, I'll take you to your residences." Brother Heng then led us to three houses located close to each other.
"This is your residence. There's a special formation here that prohibits others from entering your house. You can place your identification jade in the formation to register it as yours."
We walked towards the formation and put our identification jade in it, causing it to open.
"We've troubled you, Brother Heng," we said, cupping our hands to show our thanks once more.
But Brother Heng hastened to reply, "You don't need to be so formal. And here, I almost forgot. Take these." He took out six booklets and handed two of them to each of us.
"One is the Outer Sect Guide and the other is the Basic Qi Cultivation Manual. Tomorrow, an Outer Sect Elder will give a lecture to the new disciples. When the three bells are rung, the three of you should go to the square. This is a valuable opportunity for your juniors, so you shouldn't forget it."
I remember this was also mentioned briefly in the game though I don't know much about it since Xiao Tian had missed it.
As I was lost in thought, Senior Guo Heng excused himself, saying, "I must be going now. If you encounter any problems, feel free to find me."
We thanked the senior once again before he departed.
Turning to me, Qin Yue said, "Bai Yu, my sister, and I are going to retire to our residences now. By the way, I'm a bit older than you, so feel free to call me sister."
Considering that Bai Yu appeared to be around 14 years old, I didn't take offense to the suggestion. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised that the sisters didn't exhibit any signs of the typical "young master syndrome." This was a definite plus in my books.
"Sure thing, Sister Yue," I replied.
Sister Yue then smiled at me warmly and said, "Now that you're calling me 'sister,' if anyone ever tries to bully you, just come to us. We'll help you handle it. Our cousin is in the inner sect, after all."
I nodded, and Sister Yue set off toward her residence.
"Bai Yu, I have to go too," Liuli said, cupping her fists. "Let's talk more tomorrow." She then quickly followed after her sister.
With that, the two sisters made their way toward their residences, leaving me to ponder about my newfound circumstances.
