(Oct 28)
William told me that on November 28 is the day we leave for the meeting with the Kenava, so I have about a month to prepare.
I am a tad bit anxious since it’s an important event but there’s no use worrying about it now.
What happens, happens.
So many things have happened now, and I realize that worrying over everything is pretty much useless so it’s better to just go with the flow.
I did tell my wife about it though.
Now we wait until November 28 rolls around.
(Oct 31)
Today is Halloween, also known as the day that the SS-ranked Supreme Lich, one of the 8 SS ranked, was born into this world many millenniums ago.
The entire sky was dark, as on this day of every single year, the sun would completely disappear.
No one knows why the sun disappear, we just know it has something to do with the birthday of the Supreme Lich.
Nothing changes though, even without a sun, we are still somehow able to receive heat as if there was a sun still there despite being unable to see it.
Not only that, but monster appear to be more docile on this day. Monsters aren’t as vicious, and they go into hiding during Halloween.
I read some theory books on Halloween as a kid that claimed that the Supreme Lich, on October 31, would spread an illusion miasma all over the sky to remind the world of his existence which is what causes the sun to look as if it disappeared.
However, I don’t know the validity of these claims as there was never any proof.
I remember when Gabi was old enough to realize the sun was gone and started panicking.
She ran up to me crying that the sun had disappeared and was afraid it’ll never be day ever again.
Anyways, since Halloween is holiday, I got a day off and enjoyed the nice darkness.
Looking at the city from the dark and seeing hundreds of lit candles on the house windows along with millions of stars in the sky was quite beautiful.
I’m glad that days like these exist.
(Nov 1)
Halloween is over, back to work again.
Pain.
Well, to be fair, I don’t feel tired at all when I go to work since I have an overabundance of energy and magic.
Still, I like to complain about trivial things to remind myself I’m still human.
Work is work though.
(Nov 2)
Hm.
I discovered some… interesting things today.
The day started off completely normal as any other day would be.
Wake up and go to work as a soldier.
Work has been relatively easy lately since there aren’t that many people outside of their homes, so I didn’t have to worry about much trouble.
I was leisurely strolling around the castle when I noticed a group of soldiers carrying some boxes and stuff.
Since I didn’t have much to do, I decided to approach them and ask if they needed some help.

“Help? Yeah! We’d gladly appreciate it. We’re cleaning up and packing up a lot of the stuff like training gear, wooden swords, armor, and other materials that the kingdom needs. Some of these stuff are from the training week that we soldiers had to participate in a while ago. Just carry them to where our gear is usually held in the soldier storage.”
“Yeah, sounds good.”
And so, I helped some fellow soldiers in need.
I carried boxes back and forth for a while until a couple hours in, one of the other soldiers slipped and dropped his box, causing a bunch of flags to spill out.
“Ah, shit.” The soldier grumbled.
I was nearby so I went over and helped him.
That’s when I noticed it.
The flags that had spilled out of the box were the same flags that were used in the capture the flag that we played during the training week.
But what’s strange was that I sensed magic from them.
To an ordinary person or even a trained person, they wouldn’t have noticed, but with my newly enhanced dragon senses, I was able to detect a faint amount of magic coming from the flags.
Upon closer inspection, I was able to recognize this magic.
It was Alisha’s magic.
Interesting.
For some unknown reason, Alisha’s magic was inside multiple flags…
I could think of a couple reasons why, but the main explanation I could think of is that she cheated.
If her magic was inside of the flag, she would have an easier time finding the flags during capture the flag.
The amount of magic is so minuscule, only someone with extremely sharp senses… like Alisha… or me, could be able to detect it.
But why did she cheat? I have no clue.
I just thought this was a little interesting.
If this were a couple months ago, I probably would’ve confronted Alisha asking her why this was the case, but now I just don’t care.
I think it’s interesting, but I have better things to worry about then someone cheating in capture the flag.
So, I helped the soldier clean up all the spilled flags and continued carrying boxes for a few more hours.
I ended up doing most of the work and we finished early.
For ordinary soldiers, carrying these boxes for hours in the heat was tiring but since I’m basically an A rank now, this is trivially easily.
While other people carried one or two boxes, I could carry 8 – 10 at once at twice the speed!
Yes.
This is why I became strong.
This is what motivates me to train.
Not to defeat powerful monster or slay evil villains, but instead, it’s to carry heavy boxes with ease!!!
All jokes aside, my fellow soldiers were grateful that I helped so that made me a little happy.
“Seriously man, thanks for the help.”
“No problem. But aren’t there quite a lot of soldiers? Why did it seem like you guys were struggling with just cleaning duty?”
“Very few soldiers are put in cleaning duty since it’s supposed to be an easy job, but it’s more tiring than one would assume. Plus, a lot of our soldiers were getting sick recently, so our progress has been a lot slower.”
“Sick? A lot of people? At once?”
The soldier I was talking to nodded.
“Yeah. We’re not sure why either, it’s probably related to the announcement that the kingdom released a couple days ago about the disease spreading around but I’m not sure. It’s strange how it’s mainly effecting soldiers only though. Anyways, it’s been a huge pain since it’s cutting our work force.”
A strange sickness that is being spread among soldiers?
That doesn’t sound good.
The soldier said it might be related to the announcement that the kingdom released about a disease being spread… but that was made up.
William had explained his plan to me before The Grinch fight. He said the city will release a fake disease announcement so people will stay indoors during the day we try to defeat The Grinch, meaning there is no disease. It was made up.
But now people are actually getting sick?
I hope that I’m just overthinking things as I usually do.
There have been so many issues lately. The Grinch. My wife. Kenava. My dragon powers.
I don’t feel like dealing with a pandemic being added onto my list of worries.
But chances are, it’s nothing too serious. Most likely a flu or cold being spread.
“Anyways, if you’re free tomorrow as well. Can you help us again? We could totally use a couple extra hands,” the soldier asked.
I didn’t have anything better to do and will probably be free again tomorrow, so I agreed.
(Nov 3)
Well, I found out the cause of why the soldiers were becoming sick.
Turns out… it’s my fault (again).
I’ll explain from the beginning of the day.
As I promised the soldiers on clean up duty yesterday, I went to help them out with cleaning and carrying.
I met up with them at the same spot yesterday, and together, we all travelled to the same cemetery where I fought The Grinch.
The entire area was a total mess.
There were still blood stains everywhere, and while all the corpses were gone, there were still lingering flesh and smaller body parts laying around.
Not to mention the massive holes and the fact that half of the cemetery was completely destroyed.
“It’s… messy. I was a part of one the squads that were in the city so I didn’t see the actual fight, but from the aftermath, anyone would realize it was brutal.” One of the soldiers said.
“We cleaned up most of the bodies, but we still have a bit of work to do. There are a lot of weapons and canons that were used in battle, so we’ll need to pack those up. Also, be careful of the blood and stuff.” Another soldier explained.
I nodded.
At this point, I felt weird.
Looking at the aftermath of the battle just felt strange. It’s like looking at a mess you’ve made while you were drunk and didn’t remember happening.
But I put that aside and got to work, cleaning up the mess.
However, as I was doing it, I noticed something…
My dragon essence was still lingering in the air.
I sensed my blood that I spilled during The Grinch fight had seeped into the ground and was still partially lingering in the air.
At first, I didn’t think much of it since a powerful battle between A rankers would naturally have some lingering blood and magic… but then I remembered something that William told me.
“Dragon blood is extremely poisonous and even a single drop could kill even strong knights.”
The soldiers were getting sick was from my lingering blood in the air.
