(Aug 22 Continued)
By the time I got back to my seat, the battle had already begun between the B ranked spear user and B ranked assassin, in fact it was almost over.
The spear user had thrusted her spear at the assassin and the assassin nimbly dodged out of the way, but it was clear that the assassin was being forced back and the spear user was slowly winning.
Most of the time, assassins were very bad in one on one fights as they mainly deal with stealth and sneak attacks and one on one fights make it hard for assassins to hide and attack when all the attention is on them.
Of course there are exceptions like the A ranked assassin from before was simply overwhelmingly stronger then it's opponent so the A ranked assassin won but in a normal fight like this, the assassin is almost guaranteed to lose.
The B ranked assassin was wielding two curved daggers, seemly coated in poison but since her opponent was a spear user, she couldn't even get close as the range of a spear is further then daggers(duh).
The assassin had small cuts and bruises, minor damage but it was adding up while the spear user was a little tired, but uninjured without a single wound on her.
The spear user took a big step towards the assassin and spun her spear around with one arm. With the momentum of the spinning, she grabbed the spear with her other hand and now with both hands on the spear, she made a huge upward arch slash cutting right into the assassin.
The assassin had jumped back and barely avoided a major life threatening wound but now she very injured and was unable to continue thus concluding the battle.
The crowd cheered like before and the two fighters left the field.
The final battle of the first round was starting, after this is Briggs vs me. The nerves...
Because I was so nervous and kept thinking of ways to deal with Briggs, I wasn't paying attention much to the battle between the A ranked necromancer and another A ranker.
Hundreds of strategies and tactics ran through my head but I tried to image the fight between me and Briggs but every mental simulation I did ended up with me losing... am I simply not having enough confidence in myself?
I continued run simulations in my mind and came up with a bunch of ideas and I did think of a couple tricks I wanted to try.
Time passed quickly as I was distracted and I snapped back to reality when the crowd cheered wildly again and I look at the field and saw the necromancer had won, by an overwhelming amount.
I swallowed my saliva, it's time.
Me Vs Briggs.

Let's do this.
.
After the necromancer match ended thus concluding the first round of fights, I stood up from my seat and headed to the fighter waiting room where I met up with Briggs.
He greeted me and he seemed completely relaxed and not nervous at all, which did sooth my nerves a bit and I smiled at him.
We parted ways to head to our positions for the match and the iron gates to the field slowly rattled open which I saw Briggs on the other side.
I clenched my longsword hard and I focuses my dragon essence, then I took a massive step forward.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMANNNN!!!! THIS IS THE FIRSSSTTT MATCH OF THE SECONNDDD ROUND!!! A BEAST, A BEAR LIKE BOI, BRIGGGGGSSSS!!!! ON THE OTHER HAND, WE HAVE A NEWBIEEE, BUT IN A SHORT SPAN OF TIME HE ROSE UP TO B RANK!!! I WELCOME YOU, ANTHONYYYY!!! 3! 2! 1! LET THE MATCH BEGINNNNN!!!!"
The announcer commenced the fight and the moment he did I felt an insane pressure press down on me coming from Briggs.
For the first time since meeting him, I thought Briggs was scary.
The magic pressure, his chakra that was pressing down on me caused me to unintentionally hold my breath, it wasn't just his magic though, his confidence that he emitted and his presence was enough to make any normal person wet their pants.
However I was no normal person (heh, self confidence).
I sharpened my determination as a wave of confidence washed over me and injected my dragon essence into my blade and I swung it towards Briggs who was walking towards me.
A magic slash that slightly distorted the air using dragon essence shot out towards Briggs, I knew this attack wasn't going to damage him at all but with this I can buy some time. I was right as Briggs stopped for a second and with one of his two battle axes, he cut the slash in half.
With this time I created two fireballs at the tip of my blade, I trained a lot and I can create fireballs faster and it doesn't have to be created on my palm anymore.
I exploded one of the fireballs which got absorbed by my longsword and my longsword was infused into a burning longsword which amplified damage, fire attributes and inflicts burn effects.
The other fireball that remained, I condensed it into a tiny little bullet and shot it like a sniper towards Briggs's face which Briggs easy moved his head out of way. Briggs may seem like a slow guy but he was surprisingly quick and very smart.
Briggs bent downwards slightly which I noticed and immediately jumped back, after fighting Briggs in sparring matches a lot I learned a bit of his habits and patterns, when he bends down he will likely leap into the air and do a massive ground pound onto his opponent, which is me.
As predicted he leapt into the air and since I had acted quick and dodged he missed me but even so his ground pound was infused with his chakra caused a minor earthquake which momentarily knocked me off balance.
Briggs using the opportunity of me being off balance, he charged at me again like a bear and swung his two greataxes at me like two bear claws. I slowed down time by condensing dragon essence into my head and saw Brigg's claws in slow motion.
I was way too close to Briggs to dodge, so instead I had no choice to face Briggs head on, I transformed my hands into dragon claws and focused all the energy in my body into my arms and legs.
CLASHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
A massive gush of air and magic flew out as I grabbed Brigg's greataxes with my dragon hands, the clash between the blade of Brigg's greataxe and my claws caused a screech sound.
Briggs looked at me with surprise and was impressed but I wasn't done yet, since I was holding both of his greataxes he was in front of me so I sucked in air and breathed out fire directly into Brigg's face, no mercy or holding back.
However suddenly I felt the two greataxes I was holding get pulled back and it got ripped out of my claws and Briggs smashed his head into my forehead, his skull was super tough! What the hell, how do you train your skull to be this hard???
The fire breath I did to him gave him a small little burn but he was nearly perfectly fine, Briggs coated his face in a thick fur like layer of chakra magic protecting himself.
Briggs then proceeded to yell out:
"T'IS BUT A SCRATCH! ROAR!!!"
